  1. Couldn't help ya as far as fishing from shore, but most of the bass have spawned and moved off of beds, anybody else in the area that says otherwise hasn't fished enough. I was catching 5+ lbers off of beds up until last week in the lake and river, and they have moved off of all of my prespawn spots into deeper water. Soft plastic jerkbaits, small crankbaits, and spinnerbaits while the bait is still in the river. I would say a tube but most of the bass I'm catching aren't feeding much off of the bottom.

  3. Fished Lake Erie yesterday for a half hour after walleye fishing. Walleye bite was slow and caught 15 smallies on a spinnerbait biggest being almost 5lbs.
  4. Some fish still holding on to beds as of these last couple of days in the river. All of the good fishing will start making its way to the lake shortly.
  5. Interesting topic to me, as I'm seeing much different responses than what I expected! can any of the guys using braid/mono explain why? I've always used a fluoro or copoly depending on how deep I want to get the bait. To answer the OP- Squarebills-15lb YZ Hybrid 1-10'-10lb YZ Hybrid 10'+-10lb Seaguar
  6. Does a motorguide x3 70# 24v trolling motor and a lowrance elite 5 fishfinder count? I couldn't help myself with the 25% off from TW.
  7. I throw it on a 7'4 heavy Rapsody Crank it Up glass rod. I've had good experience with it hopping it up to get it moving through the water column as well as a steady retrieve.
  8. Because I fish 90% of my time on the water in the great lakes (Erie and Ontario), I have a pretty good idea about which colors will work for each technique I use, most of these being tried-and-true for many people in the area. That being said, I know from experience and time on the water every week what the fish are hitting. I generally rig up a dropshot (3-4 different colors), a spinnerbait (always white), a tube on two different rods to hit different depths (3-5 different colors), a crankbait (3 colors), a jerkbait (5 colors), a jig (1-2 colors), and a soft swimbait (white or some variation of white). Generally, if I'm on and marking fish and can't get them to bite, I will usually change colors once or twice in ~30 mins. After that I'll switch presentations. I've found the longer your line is in the water the better chances you have to catch fish. Color does make a difference but only to the extent that I may have a handful of colors that makes up 90% of my tackle.
  9. Lews bb2, I have one and it is pretty wide.
  10. I can't wait to see this thread after tackle warehouses next sale, I also can't wait to post about the damage I will do.
  11. 3.5 in tube on a 3/8 tube head, or on a drop shot, or on a Carolina rig, or Texas rigged
  12. Impulse bought a g loomis E6X rod, a shimano ci4+ 3000 size, and 2 curado I's today....instead of feeling guilty thinking I need a few more rods and baits to go along with it. This is the problem with taking two weeks paid vacation and being caught up on bills.....
  13. Anyone have any recommendations? Looking to get out this week.
  14. 20 fish on Lake Erie in a quick morning. 2 fish over 5lbs, 5 fish over 4lbs, and a handful of other 2-3lb chunks.
  15. This is what being bored at work gets me when I'm reading through these forums.....
  16. Believe it or not, I see a ton of people doing it. If you go out when the winds aren't too bad, you can have a heck of a time. And many of the people I see stay behind the break walls or in the river.....
  17. There was one guy out in a kayak just trolling with flicker shads that was doing really well. Deep divers down to 22 ft. You can probably do well dragging a tube jig as well over structure.
  18. I had to do a little improv on mine though, couldn't get them to bite any of the usual suspects, so I threw a tube on the drop shot setup with a big hook and kept it just above the bottom.
  19. I'll be out again Friday, and then unfortunately will be out of town for work the following 10 days. The fish should be starting to pile up in shallower water soon. Fish further North up the lake if you get out again. ***If you throw a dropshot at all, very short leader, maybe 6 inches off of the bottom, and I was only using 6# FC.
  20. Fishing in Lake Erie is really turning on with the ice being gone and temps going up. Went out by myself and caught 20 fish on Saturday and 10 on Sunday. Best was 4.5lbs and lost what I think had to be at least 5.5 right at the boat.
  21. Owned and nearly paid off a masters degree, boat, and car before I turned 23.
  22. That is one chunky toad, congrats!
