  1. An easy way to discourage tailgaters, weather you trailering your boat or not, is to gently ease on to the shoulder of the road just enough to let the tires start to throw up some stones, this usually gets peoples attention real quick. I know that you guys with the expensive fiberglass rigs are all about not marring the finish, but with my old aluminum boat that I take into any kind of jungle on the water, I dont to much mind an extra nick or two. What I actually hate worse than tailgaiters is the dad gum idiots that pull right out in front of you when no one else is behind you and then take their sweet time to get up to speed limit or even worse drive below the limit.
  2. Does anyone have any tips or areas on or near to lake Wisconsin. Was there last week and the water was high and dirty from all the rain. found a couple in some sloughs on topwater frogs but am looking for any advice for this Saturday.
  3. Have you checked the liquid level in the batteries?
  4. I live about 20 miles west of Ohare and am looking for any one willing to get together and split expenses for some fishing. I fish NE Il. and SE Wi. mostly.
  5. Have been doing good in NE Il. and SE Wi. jig and pig at the docks, frogs & buzzbaits over the weeds and slop, footballhead jig and hula grub in about 10' of water on flats near to deep water when boat traffic is heavy.
  6. I fish with an IBFN sanctioned club out of Palatine, most of the tourneys are in Wi.,if your looking to step it up a notch check out the Big Bucks series.
  7. Don't forget the Florocarbon line, or at least a leader.
  8. Hit any docs with crankbaits
  9. where are you fishing?
  10. P.M. sent.
  11. It's mid March, has anything been put together yet for this excursion?
  12. If you are up to traveling a bit north, Lilly lake in Lakemore is a great for bank fishing, but it is catch n'release only for bass. Have gotten lots of 4 & 5lbers there. 8-)
  13. I am going to be fishing there the weekend of April 17-18. Is anyone familiar with this lake at that time of year?I have never been there before so I will be picking up a lake map, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
  14. Lilly Lake In Lakemoor Il., on Rte 120 a couple miles west of Rte 12. When the Lilly Pads come up, throw senko's into the pads. Use a stout rod and braided line as they really like to dig into the weeds.
  15. let me know when & where, if not involved in a tourney at the time I'd be in!
  16. I have to agree, in the summer months and fall, any of the numerous weed patches are excelant places to do some froggin. use braded line and hold on tight.
  17. Hey Koop, I fish a lot in Wisconsin and would be interested if it doesn't fall on a tourny weekend. Keep us up to date on what you have in mind, the when and the where.
  18. I live about 30 miles west of O'hare and fish in Northern Illinois, also lakes in southern Wisconson. Not very much info in your profile, where in the northern part of the state do you live, and what kind of fishing are you looking for?
  19. When a new O/S is introduced, a lot of sellers take there in stock machines and do just the minimal updates to get the machines to run the new software and if you use them for much more than web browsing, yo find out pretty fast how inadequite the machines are. I would also agree that B.B. is selling there Geek Squad services more than a really good unit, that of course is just my $0.02 worth.
  20. It is suposed to be in the 50's and partly sunny on Sunday. I think one more trip is in order, has anybody been on Lake Geneva lately?
  21. I used to spend a week there every year during that time period, march = jig and pig in coves and off points in coves, I used to worker them from deep to shallow dragging up slopes. In April if the weather has been stable , I alloways would connect with crankbaits, around the docks in the coves or working out from the shore with crankbaits, soft plastics around shallower cover. also try throwing spinnerbaits at bluffs on the main lake. At that time of year, bring some warm clothes, one year I got down there on the last Saturday of March and it was in the 70's, woke up the next morning and it was in the 30's, never got out of the 30's untill the next Friday and there was not a piece of warm clothing to be found in any of the local stores. Froze our buts off running the river from cove to cove, but caught quality fish on the jig and pig.
  22. Out of curiousity, what happens if a fish hits while you are changing hands?
  23. Rooster wrote on oct 10th As For the left handed retrieve reel, it is just like any piece of gear that we buy, it is a tool. Wether you want to learn to use it or not is up to you. I got one because it seemed to me the way to go as i am right handed. it felt very awkard at first, but I stuck with it and would now not use any thing else. I also find that when pitchin , when the lure hits the target that I can instantly engage the spool with my right thumb after stopping the spool, and as I am mooving my other hand toward the crank. Not preaching just explaining what works for me as you will figure out what works best for you. As for the line getting caught up on the crank when flippin, try grabbing it between the 1st and 2cnd guide instead of between the reel and the 1st guide, not only will this prevent the line from catching on the crank but you will find that if you want to, it will allow you to let out more line for more distance on your flips. Hope this helps.
  24. Simp, sorry that last post was ment for chromedog :-[
  25. Simp, if you are setting the cast control knob the way that you are it is a good way to start out and learn with a baitcaster, but you need to educate your thumb to control the spool. If you can 'teach' your thumb to replace the cast control knob you will find yourself becomming more proficient in all aspects of your fishing. as for pitchin if you are in water clear enough to need fluoro why not just put 15 or so yrds of 15 lb fluoro on a backing of whatever, you will than have more than enough line for most pitchin situations. If you buy a 150 yd. spool and use it that way, it should last you most of the season and not be to costly that way. by the way I agree that if you use 6lb. leader on that set up you are just asking for trouble.
