  1. Yeah, they usually start biting at around 8:40. Not much time before the park closes, unfortunately. Nice job though!
  2. Hey! I also fish at Puddingstone Reservoir frequently. Try Sailboat Cove. There's plenty of cover there and I get many topwater bites at night. The fish here are very finicky. One day they might go for topwater, the next day they won't. Like you, I've skunked majority of my time here (at night), but don't give up.
  3. 4.5 inch Roboworm
  4. I've noticed rust building on some of my hardbaits. Is there anything I can do I prevent this? And how can I remove the rust?
  5. Get straight A+s. Just kidding. It sounds like there really is no way to convince your parents. I'm sure your parents have a good reason for you not to own a kayak. Don't fret though, perhaps as time passes they'll oblige to your request. You'll go fishing on your friend's kayak, correct? If danger is their concern then returning safely after every trip will eventually assuage their worries.
  6. Yes there is. According to ESPN, "Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love is "intrigued" by the idea of being traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers and would commit long-term to the team, a source close to the situation told ESPN.com's Marc Stein." Personally, Cleveland looks strong right now. However, can they win a championship? My answer is "no". They have to hurdle through the Pacers which I don't see happening next year.
  7. Congrats! A bass that's 21" is a bass you'll remember your entire fishing career.
  8. Welcome to SoCal. Be sure to check out Lake Perris or Diamond Valley Marina. Like Tom said, take the drought into account. The water is no longer pertains to its basin, creating shores that descend into deeper water at an graduate rate. This occurs because of the low water level.
  9. Depends on the type of bait I'm using. If I'm using top water or jerkbait, I'll cast in every direction twice then move on. If I'm using soft plastic finesse bait, I'll sit there for a good 30 minutes or so.
  10. This really upsets me too. The boys needed that lecture; otherwise, they might commit the same felony again. Props to you.
  11. Life long Los Angeles Dodgers and Lakers fan. Grew up watching them.
  12. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. San Luis and Lexington look pretty promising. If they don't work out, I'll probably go for Calico bass. One more question, do I need to fish on a jetty to catch Calico bass? I went yesterday on Corona del Mar's jetty to target Calico... boy did my knees have a tough time. Thanks for the reply. Oh wow, that's unfortunate the lakes are experiencing droughts. I'll check them out when I visit San Jose.
  13. You've understood my question. But yeah, the reason why I'm asking this is to see if I can find any cheaper versions of the mainstream hooks I mentioned above.
  14. Okay guys, I'm really confused. I've been trying to discover what kind of hooks are used for drop shotting. Gamakatsu calls them Drop shot/split shot hooks (which is straightforward), Owner calls them Mosquito hooks, and Lazer calls them Drop shot Octopus hooks. Some say that they are generically called octopus hooks but brands like to put their own label on them. The true identification of the name of the hook used for drop shot is obscure to me and I would be thankful if you guys would help me out here.
  15. Sad to see this. He will be a legend... forever.
  16. Story of my life every day.
  17. Honestly, I go there to see what the hot items are and later order them online for a lesser price. Majority of the items there are overpriced. I'll buy couple Sabikis or sale items from time to time.
  18. Totally agree. As long as you catch fish, then your combo suffices. You don't need expensive gear to catch fish. One thing to keep in mind is to stay healthy. When fishing for long hours, sometimes the hand can't take it anymore or headaches start emerging. Be aware of your body conditions as you fish. Other than that, your plan looks great! Good luck to you!
  19. I wrap them in duct tape to prevent punctures from an exposed barb.
  20. Hey man, and welcome to the site. I've had the same exact issue (using almost every bait and still coming up empty) and came to the conclusion that there is no fish at the lake I was fishing at. Once I moved over to a different lake, I caught my first bass. Try drop shotting with a Roboworm. It worked pretty well for me last time I went fishing.
  21. The Delta seems a bit too far away. I'll check out the San Luis Reservoir though. Thanks.
  22. There are many ways the word 'Pro' can be interpreted. These are two ways that are commonly brought up. 1. 'Pro' is short for the word 'Professional' which implies those who hold an occupation as a fisherman are considered as 'Pros'. 2. Today's usage of 'Pro' is stretched these days. Now, those who excel in fishing can also be considered as 'Pros'. It's up to you how you interpret 'Pro' as.
  23. I always end up spending too much on fishing tackle whenever I go to Walmart... one purchase leads to another.
  24. This happens a lot especially around those who do not fish. I think the reason why peers think anything they perceive as skeptical as Photoshopped is that so many pictures online are Photoshopped these days that it makes it difficult to discern what is Photoshopped from what is legitimate. Like you, Glenn, it bugs me whenever someone questions the validity of my catch. Such comments discredits my accomplishments. I agree, they should take their false accusations elsewhere.
  25. Hello, I'll be moving to Santa Cruz in roughly 5 months and I'm wondering if anyone recommends any lakes to fish at. It would be even better if you would share your experience at that lake as well (i.e. what worked and didn't work). Thank you.
