  1. +1 on wood. We heat our house with a wood stove. House was built in 1899, we don't even have AC! Of course it doesn't get very cold here in central cali but still.
  2. Shoot. That article changed my perspective a little. I still think it tastes better though!
  3. Hardbait: Ghost Minnow jerkbait Softbait: Morning Dawn roboworm or jackall crosstail shad
  4. I don't have any pics of mussels on hooks but as you can see in this picture, there's plenty
  5. That happens to me all the time on my home lake, lake cachuma. We have a really bad quagga mussel problem here in SoCal
  6. Which lake did Cody Meyer and Jason Johnson catch all those huge spots out of? I would think that would make at least the top 20.
  7. Like a couple already said, #1 could easily be chickamauga. Usually the list is pretty surprising though, there's always quite a few lakes that I can't believe they missed.
  8. Which lake do you think should be #1 this year?
  9. You can't go wrong with a gitzit. They work great. I like dry creek too because of the wide variety of colors and sizes.
  10. Jerkbaits, football jigs and drospshot/splitshot rigs are definitely a good place to start. Good colors for jerkbaits are see-through colors like ghost shad and ghost bluegill. Football jigs, black and blue, pb&j and green pumpkin will cover the bases. Dropshot rigs, I would use rigs with roboworms in purple and ghost colors.
  11. http://www.roboworm.com/Robo: Roboworms. Finesse worms. MMII, red crawler and oxblood are colors.
  12. There is a 15 minute parking area just outside the gate (on the point) but that's it as far as free parking. There are parking lots on tequepis point if you pay the $10 fee to get in. It is easy to access the water from most of those parking areas.
  13. How do it feel in your hand? What do you think of the knobs?
  14. http://www.fishersnet.com/cachuma.htmlYou can see it on this map. Across from Johnson canyon.
  15. Follow WRBs advice and fish slow and you should be able to get some fish. Unfortunately there are few fishing situations harder than cachuma (which is already notorious for being a tough lake) in the middle of winter in the middle of a major drought from the bank. Don't be discouraged though, I've had some of my best days of fishing at cachuma.
  16. February 23rd should be better than right now. It seems like the lake gets a little bit better every week. The structure on the lake is hard cover, mostly rock and timber. There are muddy areas too, be careful when walking around them you could lose your shoes! I forgot to mention fishing around the docks at the marina can be good as well. Marina is on Tequepis point. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck.
  17. Good lord I didn't even know such a thing existed. That's just wrong that it's more popular than bassresource lol
  18. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Internet_forums Shouldn't Bassresource be on this list based on post and member count?
  19. Holy cow that was you? I'm gonna rewatch that episode lol
  20. Exactly. I think it's a combination of this and what flyfisher said. Some people just want to bump the thread back to the top because they're wondering the same thing, others because they think a huge post count is some kind of status symbol on this site... (It might be but I don't really care lol )
  21. When will you be there? This time is of year is super slow there and the fish are deep (10-40 feet) so bank fishing is even more difficult. You'll probably have the best luck fishing early in the morning with jerkbaits, jigs, and dropshot rigs. Jackrabbit flats and tequepis point are good places to fish along the pass. The ramp under Barona Shores campground used to be a great place to fish, now with the drought it's just a big shallow mud flat. Right now the smallmouth are definitely dominant, last fish I caught there was a 2 lb smallie on the left side of tequepis point by an old parking lot.
  22. No. I've only been bass fishing for 1 year though so that could change. Maybe this year! We'll see.
  23. If you're used to an extra fast you might want to step it up a power, for example if you use a medium heavy you might want to use a heavy. Personally I think mod-fast is perfect. Hookset might be a little less powerful, but you'll land a lot more fish trust me.
  24. The best soda IMO is Mexican coca cola, like the kind that comes in a glass bottle. It's made with real sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup so its healthier and tastes way better, less watered down.
