    The avid is a good option, I would also consider the g loomis e6x 783 SJR for the same price.

    Ya I guess what I meant was the dx full handles are the best balanced ive used. The only rod ive held that really compared in my hands was the jackal poison adrena, and that was in the store without a reel. havent tried the endurance. Also I was very surprised with the champion swimbait rods, the 8' heavy felt great! Kind of "floated" in my hand if you know what I mean, very different feeling compared to the loomis swimbait rods I've held.

    Spook: I like the original heddon super spook, ri vixen, and Sammy best. I also like poppers, rebel pop-rs work fine but I really like the megabass pop-x and pop-maxs. The pop max is a really versatile bait. I find myself walking it 90% of the time though. As far as frogs go the spro 65 is the best I've found.

    I also have some plastics in Plano boxes though too. Storing them in that will work.

    X2. I put mine in gallon ziplock bags in original packages and label them by type or brand. Works really well.

    *** *** black is always a good option for this price. New maxim has good reviews as well, but you might want to hold out for the new dobyns fury.

    I agree. Dts you should be fine but I fish scatter raps on a med-light spinning rod and 8 lb fluoro. They're pretty light and hard to cast

    What rod is it? I was playing around with my e6x 845 cbr (rated 3/8-1 ounce) was casting a 3/16 ounce bullet weight a good distance on 12 lb mono. Of course a bullet weight is easier to cast then a crankbait but still.

    With a light reel like that a light rod is nice but you need to remember that good balance is more important, and you'll notice it on the water. The Shimano/Jackall Poison Adrena (would be a SICK combo with the met!), Dobyns Champions and Extremes, and Megabass Orochi XX's are some of the best balanced rods on the market and are all in the $250-$400 range.

    Maxims are a good rod for the money though from what I've heard.

    idk about that, might balance better than the savvy but definitely not the champion: champions and champion extremes, especially the full-handle models, are the best balanced rods I've ever held.

    Fastest gear ratio possible IMO, 7:1+. Especially with walking topwaters, it will make it much easier and you'll be less fatigued.

    4# should be a very manageable line, I would echo the others that the spool's overfilled, you put it on upside down, or both. Also try using kvd line and lure. Helps keep line soft and supple and also helps with casting distance a little.

    Depends on whether or not I'm getting bites. If I don't get bit on something that should be working after about a dozen casts I move on.

    D-bomb is a great flipping/punch bait on its own, baby d-bomb same thing also a great flipping jig trailer. Super soft and good action.

    And no I'm not a "shimano worshipper", I own only 2 shimano reels and one g loomis rod.

    Wow that's a pretty bold statement to make. I agree that some of today's rods and reels are junk, but to say that ALL are garbage... I'm not sure what kind of experience you have with todays rods and reels but obviously you haven't used a new Metanium or even tatula. LOL.

    I know you're a phenix fan, why not get an x13? 7'6", rated 1/2-3 ounces.

    X2. Most of the rods that came to mind are over 7'6", i.e. dobyns 806, *** crankenstein, etc.
