  1. 40 or 50 lb braid. I wouldn't use fluorocarbon if you're going to fish frogs because it sinks, ruins the action of your frog!
  2. X2. Mosquito for nose hooking, down shot for weedless rigging. Btw roboworms and proworms 4 and 6 inch are my favorite ds baits.
  3. I use #2 & #1 owner mosquito and down shot cutting points 95% of the time. I'll go up to a 1/0 or 2/0 with bigger baits.
  4. I noticed this on sale for $200 at TW looks like a good reel the 6.4:1 is on sale. I have 2 6.4:1 reels right now so I don't really need it very much, as I only use 6.4:1s for crankbaits. But it looks like a nice reel and I'd like a good reel for crankbait fishing with a phenix composite x-10 ill be picking up soon. What do you guys think of this reel?
  5. The sedona is a great reel for the money! My first reel was a sedona sold it to my brother it's still working great! I would definitely recommend a sedona with a lightning rod or ugly stik as a spinning combo under $100.
  6. I had a black max with a cabelas magtouch for a while got the combo for $100. It was a good frogging/flipping combo for the $.
  7. Yes. Buying plastics is fun!!!
  8. I like a 3/4 ounce flipping jig with rattles and a missile baby d-bomb bruiser flash for trailer. I tried the rage rodents but didn't like them, the plastic is too hard!
  9. I'd go to Clear Lake for largemouth, Lake Erie for smallmouth, and Bullards Bar for big spots!
  10. I like split grip a little bit better but I really don't care. I guess it's a little easier casting.
  11. It happens all the time fishing with senkos, tubes, dropshots, etc. Caught a 2 lb smallmouth the other day 3 seconds after my dropshot rig hit the water.
  12. Bassresource, ***, YouTube. Nobody in my family is into fishing haha.;(
  13. Ugly stik w/ shimano Sedona and panther martins.
  14. I recently bought a phenix m1 7' 2" m spinning I caught a few largemouth and smallmouth on it up to 2.5 lbs and performed great. It's lighter and better balanced then the dobyns champ IMO. Used it for dropshotting and tubes my friend has the m1 7' 2" mh casting, composite x, and m1 inshore and he loves them. So my question is, why don't they get more attention in the bass fishing industry? Are there any other phenix fans out there?
  15. Update: 4.5 lbs.
  16. Dropshot roboworm and tube.
  17. I went to to trinity lake on a hunting trip this weekend did a little bass fishing on Saturday. Caught 20 keeper bass long lining crankbaits. Caught a 5 lb largemouth and three 4+ lb smallmouth. Broke my PB as well with a 4 1/2 lber! Fisherrw caught a 7 lb largemouth, his PB! Finished the day with a double hookup on 2 smallmouth 4 and 3.5 lbs! It was literally a bass every cast definitely the most amazing fishing trip I've ever had! What's the best fishing day you've ever had?
  18. I've never used a duckett ghost, but I agree that a mh/f is the most versatile rod IMO. That lews 6.8:1 is an excellent choice for an all-around reel. I recently bought a 6.8:1 speed spool lfs for worming and shallow cranking on a 7 ft mh/f. It's much better than the old speed spool btw.
  19. X2. BPS is my favorite but I mainly order from TW. I order my panfish ,trout, hunting, camping gear, etc. from cabelas though...
  20. I've seen a school of carp with a couple that were in the 10-12 lb range. The biggest bass I've seen but failed to catch was 4-5 lbs on a bed.
  21. I would definitely consider the new Daiwa Ballistic ex. I don't own one (yet) but I've heard great stuff about it! Check out the reviews at TW.
  22. I like Panther Martins. My favorite color is holographic trout and 3/8 ounce size.
  23. I find buying the rod more enjoyable. But putting the reel on the rod is the best part!
