  1. I use slow reels for deep cranks and big swimbaits.
  2. I also use a mh crankbait rod with a 6.8:1 reel for worms a lot. Works fine I actually really like the moderate fast action for senkos. And the 6.8:1 gear ratio lews makes a good cross-over reel for crankbaits and worms.
  3. I would definitely add dropshot. Tubes and senkos are also good. Anything finesse on light line is ideal for clear water smallies.
  4. I lost $55 worth of lures fishing from the shore one day. A spro bbz1 8 inch, spro little john, strike king squarebill, and rattletrap. It was a rough day. All that and the only thing I caught was a catfish.;(
  5. Was it a St Croix? I don't know why they call that extra fast action a "jerkbait/topwater" rod, I like a moderate or moderate-fast for jerkbaits and topwaters. The extra-fast action is more suited to jigs and plastics IMO.
  6. Nice! Looks like an awesome day of fishing. Swim jigs are very good this time of year!
  7. Couldn't resist I read it.
  8. ^^ Holy cow. Nice fish!
  9. X2. I really enjoy the challenge of fishing lakes, especially deep, clear reservoirs. Pond fishing is almost too easy lol. I saw a lady who'd never fished before catch a 4 lb largemouth on a cheap spin cast combo on a small colorado farm pond. Which is a good thing, of course, ponds are a lot of fun!
  10. Sexy shad. But I like a color with red in it, like a craw pattern, in winter.
  11. I prefer the dirty jigs california with an ez-shad trailer. 1/2 oz is a good all-around size, 3/4 around heavy cover.
  12. That's the truth. I can't believe we haven't closed this thread yet lol.
  13. Some of you might not agree with this, but I think video games are a big part of the problem as well...
  14. I know it's hard haha here's the cropped pics of my PB.
  15. 4.5 inch straight tail roboworms and tubes are top producers for me. Morning dawn is my favorite color robo, the best tube I've found is the gitzit 3 inch by far the best color is brown craw/salt pepper at least in my area...
  16. Definitely spooks! Buzzbaits and frogs are some of my favorites as well.
  17. Those are good colors too anything with purple in it seems to work for me!
  18. PB largemouth: Spro little john 1/2 ounce. PB smallmouth: Strike King 5xd. Crankbaits are awesome!
  19. My brother and best friend.
  20. I got a max on sale for $130 and I love it. Can't speak to the endurance though...
  21. X2. That's what I'm talkin about! If your'e willing to spend a little extra get a lucky craft. The colors alone are worth it!
  22. Brush hog, d-bomb, and berkley havoc craw fatty.
  23. 1/4 ounce football or pitchin jig.
  24. Roboworms are great shakey-head baits. 6 inch works best, I prefer the fat version color oxblood light red flake or morning dawn.
