Is that walker lake in mono county? Also have u heard of round valley reservoir southeast of almanor? My parents camped there a long time ago I heard there's bass.
Interesting. I might have to try those colors. I mean, they're great jerkbaits action and hooks are great I just had a problem with the paint. Old glory looks like a nice color.
What's the fishing like @ butt valley and walker? Largemouth and/or smallmouth? Sorry it's hard to find info online about these lakes. We probably won't make it to antelope just a little too far. Butt valley looks close enough tho.
It's good, but beware of the paint. Comes off easily. I had the chrome shad color lasted about 2-3 weeks almost all the paint was gone.;( All the jerkbaits that others have listed are good I would also add the strike king KVD.
Mike long=longer handle. The 795ml handle is 3 inches longer than the standard champ swimbait, and the 806ml is 5 inches longer. You just have to decide if you want that extra long handle...
^^ Agreed. Aaron martens has good videos on dropshotting I also read a great article in bassmaster magazine about dropshotting from him. He uses everything from 2-15+ lb test and explains when to use different line and weights. Mono should work fine for dropshotting most prefer flouro.
Anyone got any reports and/or tips for this lake? I might be going soon and possibly this spring around march/April. Does almanor have largemouth? Or just smallmouth. Any feedback would be appreciated.
I've had the black max and pro max both good reels pro max is better haven't used it for a while though lost the spool tension cap! Can't cast it without backlashing! But it does cast far and is fairly smooth. 4.5 out of 5 stars for the price.
I got a powell max for $125 @ TW not sure if they still have them in stock but its 7 ft medium hvy mod fast rated 3/16-1/2 ounce perfect jerkbait rod IMO.
The m1 7 ft 2 medium x-fast is a nice rod. The sweet spot is 1/4-1/2 IMO it's a little stiff for 1/8 ounce lures but handles the 1/8-3/4 ounce lure weight rating fine.
I look for a reel that is tight, the knobs don't move in and out and there's minimal handle backplay. I also look for good casting distance like the tatula. I don't care as much about light weight I feel like most reels in the 6-8 1/2 ounce balance well on rods I've never had a rod that isn't tip-heavy.
