  1. Yep. I would also add a tube for both largemouth and smallmouth. A great bait if you're looking to catch a lot of fish. You'll have to weed through a lot of dinks, but that doesn't seem to be an problem for the OP.
  2. I was just watching an interesting video on bassresource with Aaron Martens about the gears ratios in his reels. He only uses 7:1 and up. Does anyone else do this? It seems like everyone on this forum at least uses 5:1 and 6:1 for cranking.
  3. X2!
  4. Dirty Jigs! They may cost $.75 more than other jigs, but it's totally worth it imo, the colors are amazing. My favorites are blackend blue and brown/purple.
  5. Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I'm running a little low on lipless cranks, but at least I have plenty of shallow-deep diving cranks. Last time I was there I got one on a 6xd.
  6. Ok thanks somehow I missed that thread!
  7. I'm looking for a good all-around deep cranking rod for everything from 5xds to 10xds with 15 lb defier mono. Will probably pair with a Chronarch 200e5. Is this rod the right choice out of the dobyns CB line-up?
  8. Good point.
  9. I like my speed spool, but I like my new ss lfs a lot better. A little bit smoother, lighter, more compact, and it has a clicking drag. Just my opinion I prefer the lfs. The speed spool is a good reel too.
  10. Currently I use 12 lb sunline super natural mono. But I'm looking to upgrade to 13 lb defier soon.
  11. Dr pepper, beef jerky, snickers, Hostess products, and a few bottles of water.
  12. My thoughts exactly. At the very best I would be getting a 50 yard cast with a 1/2 oz crankbait, if I can get 100 or so yds of .32 diameter 15 lb defier in the reel, that's still only half capacity.
  13. I wasn't quite sure which forum to post this in, but its mostly about tackle. What kind of baits do you guys like to throw when night fishing? I'm assuming dark colored jigs and worms would work, what about rattling crankbaits and topwaters? I also have some black spinnerbaits and buzzbaits that might work. Idk much about this but I'll be on a 3 day camping trip at lake lopez this weekend and my friend and I are planning on trying night fishing, so feedback would be appreciated.
  14. This question is somewhat directed toward WRB (and anyone who uses them) because I know he uses Upton's worms. What are your favorite colors of this bait? Which do you prefer, the straight tail 13" or the UC worm 10"? Also, what kind of weight/hook set-up do you use? Thanks.
  15. Ya a 100 size (core) would probably be perfect for what I'm looking for. 200 is a little bigger than I like for a cranking/topwater/jerkbait combo. Unfortunately I can't afford one yet!
  16. I'll be using 10 lb diameter sunline mono, so line capacity is not an issue. I was mostly concerned about how heavy a bait I can throw on this reel. So you guys are comfortable fishing 3/4 oz baits occasionally? Thanks for the answers. I appreciate the feedback.
  17. I have a couple questions about this reel. First, is it the same thing as the curado 50 that everybody loves with a different paint job? Also, what is the heaviest lure you are comfortable casting on this reel? I'm considering buying one my friend has the 200e and loves it I'd like to try a 50 just wondering what the heaviest lure you guys are comfortable fishing w/ this reel is.
  18. ^^ Nice combo! And fish.
  19. I used to use spinning gear for flukes, and I still do sometimes, but I definitely prefer casting. Longer, more accurate casts are a plus. Also I've gotten used to casting.
  20. I use the owner twistlock and vmc EWG hooks. Both are pretty heavy wire. Occasionally I throw flukes on spinning gear with 6-10 lb flouro, then I'll drop down to a lighter wire for a better hook-up ratio.
  21. 3.5 inch=2/0 EWG. 5 inch=4/0 EWG. Just what I use...
  22. I like a 7-7 ft 3 in fast action med-mh power rod, 6.8-7:1 reel, and 12-16 lb mono. Btw welcome to the forum.
  23. Good point. I'll probably use a 12 lb mono leader. The rod I'm using is pretty soft though, 7 ft mod fast action medium power. It will probably help a little. Invisibility doesn't matter as much to me, the lakes I fish are pretty muddy right now.
