  1. Well thanks for the replies guys. Looking back, I wish I would've gone with 20 lb, but I'm just going to get new hooks. I've got plenty of mono and flouro leader in case it doesn't work out!
  2. The new lews super duty 8.0:1 would be a great choice as well. You can get one at TW for around $140 with the Black Friday sale.
  3. D-bombs and sweet beavers are definitely my favorite "non-realistic" craws. As far as realistic goes, the huddle-bug is a bait I'd like to try, maybe in my TW Black Friday order;)
  4. 3/0 for a ribbon tail, curly tail, or 7 inch roboworm; 6/0 for a 7 inch senko though.
  5. Besides casting distance and "invisibility", is there any other advantages to 20 lb? I got 50 because the lakes I fish are very dirty right now, so I'm not worried about fish seeing the line. Plus I don't think it's a problem anyways because its a reaction bait. I snag a lot of trees, stumps, brush, and rocks fishing from shore, it'll be nice to have a little extra strength.
  6. I fish my 5xds in the deepest water possible (near dams, docks, boat ramps) and I do fine. Although I lose a couple 5xds every trip (at least they're pretty cheap!) I'm probably going to make a TW order and get some hooks and maybe an 8.0.
  7. X2.
  8. Rods and reels are definitely the most important. Strike king 5xds and 6xds are my favorite deep divers. I actually prefer them over the spros and lucky crafts I've used. Same goes for roboworms. Cheap, and work better for me than more expensive worms like yamamotos.
  9. I was going to get 40 or even 30 lb but Walmart only had 50 and 20. 20 just seemed a little too light for me.
  10. Ill be shore fishing so depth is not a problem.
  11. ^^ This is a good way to do it. I catch fish off docks with deep divers. At cachuma lake there's also a couple old boat ramps that I deep crank a lot and catch fish (small ones so far). I have caught fish on the bank with 5xds though.
  12. I'd like to try some of those huddle bugs myself. I don't think I've ever seen any soft plastic so realistic! In spring, one of my favorite baits to throw are strike king squarebills. Cheap, and they just plain work!
  13. I'm just gonna stick to the stock trebles for now.
  14. Idk just something I read on * about switching to braid Matt allen said to step up your hooks to 3x or even 4x trebles.
  15. Help I only have a couple minutes to decide!
  16. I'm at Walmart buying some 50 lb power pro for cranking are the stock hooks on my strike king 5xds fine? Do I need to buy heavier wire hooks?
  17. Ill be using the new megabass orochi xx leviathan, rated 1/2-8 ounces. Ill be throwing glide baits, huddlestons, and smaller boot tail swimbaits. I had a Cardiff 100 for a while used it for small swimbaits and cranks its a nice reel. I just want to try something nicer idk. I'm pretty set on a shimano, just can't decide which model.
  18. MB destroyer evoluzion c40 elseil. Paired with a Stella fi of course. Might as well if money isn't an issue...
  19. Lake cachuma is the hardest for me.
  20. Puttin together a little order. Some neccecities.
  21. Spinnerbaits haven't worked for me yet.
  22. That's what I figured. (That would be a fun little lake to fish though!)
  23. I might just wait for the TW Shimano sale. If I remember correctly, it's 25% off. Then I could get the DC for $400 brand new with free shipping. (That's probably how long it'll take me to save up the $$ as well!)
