  1. How do you make your jigs? I'd like to see pictures as well. Thanks
  2. I have 3600 and 3700 plano boxes for bass, and a smaller terminal tackle box. Some crankbait boxes, miscellaneous boxes, and plastics boxes, etc. I have one 3500 I store my panfish and trout gear in.
  3. I caught a fish "deadsticking" a KVD 1.5 squarebill accidently! I cast my lure into the wind to a point and backlashed. It sat on the top of the water barely moving in the wind as I picked out the backlash. The bass came up up and exploded on it just like a topwater and I ended up catching him, a nice little 3 lber. But yes, you can fish a crankbait too slow, you just need to let the bass tell you what they want.
  4. It looks like it could fish similar but a little heavier than the Loomis 855CBR, which is exactly what I want, especially for ripping lipless cranks.
  5. I'm thinking about buying a heavier rod for 1/2-7/8 ounce squarebills, 1/2-11/4 ounce topwaters, and 3/4 ounce lipless cranks in grass with 19 lb defier armilo. Is the champ 706cb the right choice for this application? How does it cast a 1/2 ounce squarebill or topwater? Thanks.
  6. Sounds pretty good. I'll have to check that out.
  7. This sounds pretty interesting. I might have to try it. TW has the new 3" fat senko, looks perfect for the ned rig. What do you think? What is your favorite head?
  8. That's great news! Hopefully Cachuma and Piru come next.
  9. 7'6"-8' is the ideal rod length for flipping. Fast action for flipping, moderate fast for punching. I believe the mod-fast is to pin the fish up against a mat while you bring the boat in to lip the fish. Whereas with flipping and pitching, you're immediately bringing it out of cover to open water where you can fight it.
  10. I like FLW Outdoors on NBC and Major League Fishing on the Outdoor Channel.
  11. I think Chester Ca near Lake Almanor would be a nice place to live. Great fishing and hunting with lots of good bass lakes in the area, and of course Almanor. Demographics look nice (at least for California) lol. Texas sounds great besides the weather, but then Chester probably gets pretty cold!
  12. I like the blood knot for braid-to-flouro because for me at least it's simple and the fastest to tie. Alberto knot works great as well.
  13. 1/4 ounce Panther Martin for me. Any black/gold, rainbow trout, or yellow red color works great.
  14. I don't have a boat, so I guess my method for knowing when to drop a line is going along the shore and looking for places that look "fishy". I usually cast around with a crankbait or jerkbait, and then if I get bit ill catch a few and then come back through with jigs and plastics and "clean up".
  15. It makes fishing from the shore extremely difficult!;( I snag a lot more lures as well. I lost about $50 worth of crankbaits today, 2.5s, 5xds, and little johns.;( Lots of stumps and trees in the water right now. I flipped and pitched for a while too got a few bites but didn't hook up with any. Tried a FB jig for a little while too, no bites. The crankbaits were the ticket, but I lost more than the fish were worth probably!
  16. No, it was down another 5-6 feet since the last time I was there, a few weeks ago. I wish the lake would come up. I think it would really improve the fishing.
  17. Went to cachuma today. Caught some smallmouth on SK 2.5s early in the morning. Got bit on gitzits as well. Fishing is tough down there.
  18. Like every body else said, 30-40 lb braid with a leader. That'll cover most applications. Yo-Zuri Hybrid would be a great choice as well, I cant wait to try it.
  19. That's awesome! Pretty fish right there.
  20. I wouldn't be surprised to see california put out a world record largemouth, spotted bass, or even smallmouth bass in the next few years. The best chance to catch a record would probably be a spotted bass. There's plenty of ca lakes putting out 9+ lbers. I think there's a couple lakes in NorCal that could cough up a world record smallie too... Just some of my thoughts on the subject idk.
  21. Wow that thing's huge! That's gotta be one of the fattest bass I've ever seen. Really nice looking fish guys.
  22. What's the fattest bass you've ever caught? Mine was this 5 lber out of trinity lake on a 5xd. Girth measured 15 inches. Almost as wide as she was long:D What's yours? What did you catch it on?
