  1. The senko FAQ is a great resource. Like someone in that thread mentioned, I like a green like watermelon and a black like black and blue. Those two colors will cover most situations.
  2. Thats actually the model I had in mind. Well it's nice to know you like it. I'm not to worried about it. Like iabass said most of my hand is on the reel, not the rod. I was just worried about how it grips. I don't really like the handle on the rage I handled in the store, but obviously that's a completely different grade of rod
  3. Yep. Seems a little fishy.
  4. I use my hunting day pack with 2 3700s, 1 3600, and a 3500. A pack is a lot easier especially if you're carrying a couple rods.
  5. I would suggest starting out with spooks, buzz baits, and poppers. I'm not afraid to throw a more expensive topwater because you hardly ever lose them! On a side note, I think it's interesting how many posts there are about topwaters in the middle of winter, when topwater fishing is at its worst. I guess everybody's preparing for spring:) But I've never seen so many posts about topwaters and buzz baits!
  6. I know what rod and reel I'm gonna throw the a-rig on, but not 100% sure about line. I've heard braid, mono, and flouro. What do you use? #test?
  7. It is kind of a pain how the elite doesn't have more model options. Although the 7 ft mh or h shoud suit my needs, I'm looking for a jig and worm rod. But I usually prefer something over 7', like a 7'4" for jigs, so maybe the xtreme is a better choice. I'm not looking for a moderate though, I don't want to spend $300+ on cranking rod lol.
  8. Interesting. I didn't know the 5 wire a-rig was illegal in Kansas. Thought it was just california and colorado. I haven't gotten into alabama rigs yet but when I do this spring ill use something like this^^.
  9. A priest, a politician, and a clown walk into a bar. The bartender says, "What is this, some kind of joke?"
  10. 2 casting rods and 1 spinning for me. One 7'-7'6" medium moderate for crankbaits, jerkbaits, topwaters, blade baits, and small swimbaits with treble hooks. One 7'-7'6" medium heavy to heavy fast action rod (something versatile like a Dobyns Champion 734) for jigs, texas rigs, Carolina rigs, and small swimbaits. Finally, one 6'8"-7' spinning rod with 6-8 lb line for dropshots, shakeyheads, tubes, small senkos, ball head jigs, etc.
  11. Nice! Good gift idea. Might get some for myself too.
  12. Looks great! I like the idea of leaving the hooks on lol, that's hilarious.
  13. Somewhere in between 5 and 6, I'd say. Nice smallie either way!
  14. Welcome to the forum. Those cranks look sweet!
  15. Life isn't fair, is it.;(;(
  16. I can't decide. Three-way tie between senko, tube, and crankbait. Just because they catch fish. Frog or toad when they're biting it.
  17. Dropshots, tubes, jerkbaits, and crankbaits work year round for me. Like blue said, kinda depends on the conditions and time of year.
  18. That's a good idea. A custom would be fun. Never done one before. I've always heard the SCV blanks are great.
  19. Yep. What a-jay said. I've had the most success on the 5XD and 6XD. Normans are great. Haven't tried the 6th sense yet though... Heard good things about it.
  20. Mono/fluoro: 6 turn San Diego jam Braid: Palomar Connection: Blood knot I use the San Diego jam the most. Works for braid, too.
  21. The reel seat does look a little uncomfortable. Ill try to get into a tackle shop that has one and handle it with a reel.
  22. The foregrip is a nice touch. Looks like a sweet rod. I've been looking into those heliums look like really nice rods.
  23. For those who own one or have used one, what do you think of the handle on the new St Croix Legend Xtreme? It's definitely different, and it has mixed reviews on TW. I want to buy a high-end St Croix, and I was thinking Legend Tournament, but heard it has a tip heavy problem. Plus I don't like the tiny split-grip handle. Price aside, which would you recommend: Legend Xtreme or Legend Elite? Looking for some opinions from people who've owned both. Thanks.
  24. Nice fish! And combo. Is that a helium? Or a custom?
