  1. I appreciate the input... I didn't see see that the line rating went to 14. I feel a lot better about pulling the trigger on it now.
  2. I am looking at getting a Fenwick Aetos (new version) spinning 7' mf action for shakey head. I have a 7' ml HMG spinning rod that has the same lure rating as the new Aetos (1/8 - 5/8oz). Just wondered if the rods have the same action/power? The hmg is a great rod but too soft for shakey heads. Didn't want to pull the trigger on this until I knew the Aetos has a little more backbone than the HMG ml. Thanks
  3. I am looking to replace my current spinning rod (fenwick smallmouth 6'9"xf) that a broke under rod cleat (sad day). Do any of you prefer a longer spinning rod for skipping? I was debating between getting the new Fenwick aetos 6'6" vs the 7' and feel like I can skip the longer rods better but may give up a little accuracy. Just curious if any of you have any issues with accuracy on a longer rod. Thanks
  4. Thanks for your input... Thinking about just getting the Aetos since it's under $80 including shipping at FFO.
  5. I was looking at buying a topwater/jerkbait rod and wanted to ask opinions on these rods. Trying to decide between the 6'6" medium/fast Aetos and the new Mojo (6'8" jerkbait rod). I like a shorter rod for this application but would you rather have a longer rod with short handle (Mojo 6'8") or shorter rod with longer handle (Aetos 6'6")?
  6. Would the Winn grip tape stick to the foam? I think covering cork with this would be great but the foam not so sure.
  7. Thanks for all the responses... I'm going to try light sandpaper first then apply a little alcohol/simple green.
  8. I have a Fenwick Elite Tech Bass rod with the EVA and TAC handle design. The foam has lost it grip and feels almost slick. I love the rod but just curious if there's anything i can do to get recapture some sort of grip on the handle? Anyone else have this issue?
  9. Looking at having a dedicated jerkbait and topwater rod and reel but i currently have 12lb mono on reel. Do any of you ever tie a mono leader to mono? I was thinking of tying a 8lb or 10lb mono leader to this when jerkbait season comes around. I've read on here 12lb mono might be too big in clear water situations. Thanks
  10. No I'm not a member... thanks for your input. Very much appreciated
  11. Thanks, what is the rod compared to a regular moderate rod. I just want somethin with a little backbone to it and didn't think a moderate jerkbait rod would give me this. I've read pretty good reviews about the rod but nothing on the action
  12. Looking for new jerkbait rod and would like some opinions from some people who own this rod 6'4" version. I've read where a lot of people like xf action but this rod is moderate. Is the rod fairly wimpy or do you still get a lot of action? Thanks
  13. Looking at buying a new Medium action rod for throwing lipless cranks, small swimbaits, buzzbaits etc... I was looking at the 7' hmg casting. Noticed the power rating on the medium is 1/4 - 3/4 and wondered if this felt more like a medium heavy. Would like the option to throw lighter stuff on rare occasions. Anybody out there have this rod?
  14. I appreciate the help... The more i read up on this, the xfast tip scares me a little so i probably will not get it. Most likely going to get the Smallmouth 6'3 medium M/F or the Elite Tech Bass 6'6" Medium/Fast. Anyone ever used these rods for Jerkbaits?
  15. would this rod be good for jerkbait? I was looking at replacing my bass pro carbonlite 6'8" med xf because it's just a little long for me as I slap the water occasionally. Would this tip be a little strong for jerkbait considering the short length? I was looking at a 6'6" med fast but found this rod at a good price.
