  1. My clubs president loves hers, I believe it was a Medallion. I've seen good and bad reviews on them though, but its entirely possible it was operator error on the bad ones.
  2. As a college student cheap is my middle name...or ought to be. But I have heard wonderful things on the new Mitchell 300 Pro reel and the combo both, all at a whopping $90. Other than that I shop the bargin areas at Bass Pro and Cabelas since they are the outdoor shops near me.I have found all kinds of gear at dirt cheap prices, its just a matter of sniffing them out.
  3. I didnt bass fish until a few years ago when I moved to NW Mo for college, before that it was all catfish and crappie. And the only advice I really have to give is live on the water and give everything you think will work atleast a few casts. Ive gone from accidently catching bass while targeting other species to consistently landing 3-5# fish and a heavily pressured fishery. All from trial and error. Best of luck!
  4. If you are willing to make the run 90minutes north, Mozingo lake in Maryville is awesome. The bite can be slow on weekends especially right now since schools out and what not but I pull great fish from there all the time.
  5. Don't know if you've done gone and returned but Fellows lake is iffy. It was alright ten years ago but then went to crap. I've since moved north for college so I don't know now. Springfield lake was never worth fishing. And there is a small park called Valley Water Mill, its been perked up alot since my old man fished it it the 80's but there is supposed to be 4lbers galore in there.
  6. Alright, my big question is are Copper River rods of a respectable quality? Id never even heard of them until I saw them on sale at Cabela's earlier this week. But my cheap college student self couldn't pass up a $25 spinning rod that felt good with the testing it got in store. It handled several 2-3 lb bass at the lake well when paired with my Pflueger Presidential very well, but I want to know if this sucker is going to blow up on me after a few trips to the lake?
