  1. I have a buddy that bought a few of them on a sale, 4 if I recall, two had varying issues and the others were fine, it was enough of a deal breaker for him that he returned all of them. My personal opinion is to use that one for a whole season and see how it holds up before buying more.
  2. Buy the best between the two you can afford, if you can afford the NRX but considering a GLX just go with the NRX otherwise you'll always be wondering "what if" The Conquest is a better rod than the NRX under the Shimano Umbrella, if you want the best of the best in the Shimano line up consider the Poison Ultima.
  3. Picked up a new Daiwa SLP Works Ryoga 1016, pretty slick little reel.
  4. My most productive days are when I'm alone on my boat, I'm not concerned with making sure the other person gets on fish or getting them unstuck, I can fish exactly how I want for as long as I want.
  5. Another custom rod by Walker Nelson. Bottom contact for casting jigs from 3/8-1/2 St. Croix SCV INSHORE MODEL - 5SW70MF It's right between a St Croix Medium fast and Medium Heavy fast. Loaded with acid wrapped Fuji titanium torzite guides. Light as a feather and seems to float in your hand, all business.
  6. You need to buy casting dropshot weights.
  7. A Dobyns rod true calling is a Lure Retriever. Here are the ingredients if you have a less than useful rod laying around. Serves 1 Prep time: 5 minutes Build time: 5 minutes 0 calories. CHAMPION EXTREME HP just cut to size. STEEZ A CRAZY CRANKER. 100 LB BRAID HOUND DOG LURE RETRIEVER.
  8. My advice is to not take advice from 99% of people at tackle shops, most don't know their butt from a hole in the ground, and they think they are experts at whatever subject you have questions about. A uni-knot or blood knot is sufficient for the majority of braid to leader connections in regards to bass fishing. I myself use blood knots and have never had one braid to leader fail. Palomar knot, trilene knot, snell knot and rapala knot are the only knots you need to know for the majority of lure or hook connections in Freshwater.
  9. The Daiwa Steez AGS 7'6" Medium/Medium Light will cover your needs and then some.
  10. Sure thing, I can tell you that just with initial observations, the power and action is very similar to a St Croix 6ft10 ml xfast blank, which is a good thing because the st croix blank does a lot of finesse stuff well while still having great backbone.
  11. Picked up a new Megabass P5 Destroyer Bait Finesse. And paired it with a new Millionaire CT SV. Pretty awesome little combo, I'll probably make it my dedicated Vision Oneten Jr combo.
  12. The Conquest has a much more balanced feel, they just feel "right". Also the difference in sensitivity to myself at least is the same if not better on the Conquest. The attention to detail is better on the Conquest as far as build quality. And the Conquest does not have those horrid recoil guides. The NRX and NRX+ seem like a test mule or concept version of the Conquest, where they slap stuff on it rush the build, but in the end after all the testing and feedback the final product is a lot more refined and appealing. Plus the Conquest is also more expensive if you care about stuff like that. I have a lot of high end and custom built rods to compare against the NRX rods I have, some people might get upset at what I'm gonna say but the NRX line is mostly Hype these days and relies on the past reputation to sell nowadays, some companies have caught up or surpassed the NRX line. Don't get me wrong they are still nice rods though. Why not get a 172mh Poison Ultima instead, everybody and their brother has a NRX thinking it's the pinnacle of bass rods.
  13. Just get both then you don't have to wonder, you'll know. Also the Conquest is just a better series all around, I would look into those over the NRX+
  14. I have a few of the Sensitive models, they are up there as far as value overall, great choice.
  15. New combo. Daiwa Steez Racing Design AGS 701MH/HXB-ST 1/4 - 1.25 weights 10-25 lb flourocarbon. Solid tip. Comes in at 3.6 ounces Paired with a Daiwa Steez SV TW 1016SV-SHL 7.1:1 Added a carbon handle and SLP knobs to fancy it up some. This rod makes the AGS Bottom Contact not as special in my opinion.
  16. Disappointed that the picture posted still has that NRX sloppy wrapping. Probably still buy one though get it stripped down and built properly.
  17. That is true, but most of the time cheap insurance gets you the hassle you describe, not all insurance is equal.
  18. Having insurance is part of being a responsible adult.
  19. Was able to nab a new in the box SV103HL, I wish they kept making these guys. Love that IP79.
  20. 912 is a staple anytime anywhere. 213 187 306 These work everywhere. The 187 is a true sleeper color.
  21. This just came in MORETHAN PE1000SHL-TW It's an awesome reel, insanely smooth with the Hyper Digigear. It's basically a very refined Steez A which in itself is a work horse. I'm gonna get some more.
  22. I've had scent work too many times to just be a coincidence, where it was a slow day and most of the fish i would hook was immediately after I had just used scent on whatever I was throwing be it a jig, worm or whatever, right after applying the scent and casting the lure I would get a bite most of the time within seconds of hitting the water. Some days it's the missing link.
  23. Being a boat owner is easy if you're mechanically inclined and you have common sense along with Being diligent with regular maintenance. If you can't do your own oil changes, or able to swap out something basic like a alternator, fuel pump, or wire up a new stereo in a car or truck which is as easy as it gets short of knowing how to pump gas, then you really don't have any business owning a boat unless you like paying someone to do every little thing, but what happens when you are out on the water and you don't have someone with knowledge out on the boat with you when something goes wrong because that's when it will.
  24. Walker Nelson at Nelson rods, build quality is second to none and he responds to inquiries right away not a week or more later.
