  1. Some people like it on the bottom and some prefer it on the top, I'm a top man myself.
  2. Don't worry one day you'll figure it out.
  3. See above And yes, you can tell a difference immediately I did it for fun because of this thread to see what I was missing out on, turns out I was missing out on quite a bit of reduced distance.
  4. Definitely cast further with it over and not under. It's pretty clear in this picture. If you fully understand the purpose of the T-Wing then you'll realize it goes over. People saying it goes under probably hold their spinning setup like this also.
  5. The newest Metanium or the most recent previous? I've had a few of the previous version MGL I also have tons of Daiwa reels, to me the Steez SV TW a better comparison than a Steez A. The Steez SV TWS casts a broad variety of lures better than most reels. The Steez A is more of a work horse, I use it on my heavy rated rods. The Steez SV TW I use for Medium and Medium Heavy. The Metaniums I had were very nice but after having so many Daiwa reels I just preferred the braking system more on them, other than that i felt that they were equally refined, the finish on the previous MGL were off easily vs the Steez reels similar to how the old school Zillions had fragile finishes.
  6. It goes over it doesn't matter what iteration it is.
  7. It goes over not under, otherwise what's the purpose of the T wing.....
  8. I dont have a favorite per say but if you could only have one I would recommend the 7ft1 MH XFast, it can perform a plethora of tasks. The 7ft4 H is surprisingly versatile for a heavy rated rod, with 1/4 Bass Patrol rubber skirted jig and no trailer I can cast it an easy 85 feet and that's with 14 lb Sunline Structure and a Steez A. I've used it for Swim jigs, Carolina Rigs, Frogs, dragging heavy football Jigs, Spinnerbaits, Chatterbaits.
  9. I have 4 of these new Xtremes so far, OVERALL they are probably the best rods I've ever purchased or used, I'm just waiting on more of the models to be released before purchasing more, hopefully soon but who knows now with this pandemic. Right now I have One 7ft4 H Casting Two 7ft1 MH Casting One 7ft M Casting Dont worry about overall weight with these, they practically float in your hand.
  10. A 6ft Medium Heavy Spider Cast casting rod with a Spidercast Baitcaster to match, I mowed a million yards to save up for that setup because Roland Martin touted it as the best ever, I was a kid and didn't know any better, what a piece of Junk!
  11. The Alphas CT SV70 Or The brand new 2020 Alphas Air TW
  12. It all depends, the NRX is a sensitive and light blank, but it's built like a 100 dollar Chinese rod. People have Rose colored glasses with the NRX rods for whatever reason. They are the most underwhelming of all the higher end rods, the bent in a round shape paper clip guides are also laughable. LOOMIS GLX or Shimano Conquest if you want to stay under the shimano umbrella, both are solid choices. The legend elite is also extremely nice.
  13. Straight from St. Croix on the new Xtreme AGS blank. The reengineered SCV carbon found in the new Legend Xtreme is an example of St. Croix’s constant drive to obtain the unimaginable – proven Xtreme durability with proven, unprecedented sensitivity – so anglers can fish without compromise. Engineered as a result of a new proprietary manufacturing process, the new Legend Xtreme employs a resin that significantly increases strength in compression during the hookset, as well as flexural strength when the rod is under load. The new SCV carbon construction also incorporates an improved, overlaid ART (Advanced Reinforcing Technology) to yield the highest levels of carbon fiber density found on any fishing rod on earth. Simply put, the new Legend Xtreme offers an unquestionably pure and dense carbon, to transmit the slightest vibration through a carbon fiber guide train and proprietary handle, all while achieving a tensile strength never attained in any previous St. Croix fishing rod.
  14. First impression is the build quality of the Xtreme vs the NRX, the NRX looks like a budget rod next to the Xtreme. The next observation is the Xtreme has a weightless feel when fishing tip up, Not so with a comparable NRX. And the biggest difference is the crispness of the sensitivity, the Xtreme transmits what's going on in ultra high definition, the NRX is remarkably sensitive as well but not like the Xtreme. It's like a Corvette ZR1 trying to compete with a Porsche 911 GT2 RS. The Corvette is amazing in it's own right but the Porsche just makes it unfair.
  15. I've had everything including the much touted NRX rods, these are on a whole other level, they have that "IT" factor to them.
  16. More on the way if I like these.
  17. We all have different personal preferences, which is a good thing and is what makes these forums interesting. Everyone also has different physical and structural characteristics in regards to strength, arm length, hand size, resistance to fatigue and so on that can affect fishing on the water, that's why some feel that lighter more sensitive rods have a tip heavy feel and would rather fish a rod that has additional weight added to the butt section, adding a little polish to the rod if you will, while others dont notice any tip heaviness whatsoever. Different strokes for different folks.
  18. Around 60 to 65 degrees for my area in California.
  19. I would look at the classifieds, more Dobyns pop up consistently than any other brand it seems and often in lots or bunches, people seem to put up more than one of their dobyns for sale, you can grab them for real cheap then and try one out and see if you like it. Fish a St. Croix and Dobyns heavily for a year and see which one holds up the best as far as fit and finish and judge for yourself.
  20. The sensitivity on the new AGS Xtremes with take a Nrx lunch money for sure.
  21. Which models have you deemed tip heavy? See below https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/224808-help-selecting-14-oz-t-rig-jig-rod/?do=findComment&comment=2541761
  22. The price point after the 40% is deducted should be what the retail should regularly be on Dobyns rods, hopefully people that are on the fence take advantage of these much more realistic prices.
  23. I'm obviously a fan of St. Croix but I'm not a fan of misinformation. Yes previous generations of the Legend Tournament series were tip heavy, that has since been corrected with the newest line up, the newer St. Croix rods in general are more balanced than a lot of rods on the market and durable to boot. These are a few examples that seem non tip heavy to me. LTB 7ft10 H with Lexa 300 HD LTB 7ft4 MH with Coastal SV 6ft 10 ML with Alpha CT SV Legend Xtreme 7ft4 H with Steez A TW And lastly a rod that's relevant to the OP's needs 7ft M Legend X mounted on a fairly light Steez SV TWS
  24. Killer for me in the spring for decent size fish.
