  1. Steez A Crazy Cranker is the "ONE".
  2. Just saw this, can't believe no one replied. They are awesome finesse jig trailers, but they are tiny, even the large size is small so you have to match the jig size accordingly. Pictured are my two favorite jig color combos to throw and are killer in my California lakes, both with the large size Iovino trailer. These jig skirts are untrimmed, they are the Version 2 Keitech football jigs in 1/2 ounce. The small size trailer is a perfect match for the Keitech mono jig.
  3. What Susie says about Sally, says a lot more about Susie than it says about Sally. Don't be a Susie.
  4. Who cares what everyone uses or whats available, if someone wants a flashy bass boat or multi colored rods with all the latest tackle tied on it doesn't affect you in anyway, unless of course the aforementioned stuff is unattainable to you, then the OP makes sense, smells like jealousy to me.
  5. I was thinking the guides were all screwed up, from the pictures it's not bad by any means, if you really want to complain about guide placement and build quality buy a NRX.
  6. Up to 35 feet for me, most of the time I use 1/15 ounce but if it's windy I'll use 1/10, I use a 7ft Legend Elite Light extra fast with 5 lb straight flourocarbon specifically for deep water ned rigs this setup works unbelievably well.
  7. I believe 98% of the time is does not matter with regards to shakyheads and other diminutive sized jig heads, but to make it easy, black matches everything. I have noticed a difference with swimbait or grub jigheads with baitfish painted heads and eyes, vs plain colored heads though.
  8. ^^^ This, I have a tire change kit specifically for my boat trailer in my trucks tool box, the exact socket size, breaker bar just in case, wrench, small floor jack, gloves, flashlight, towel, wheel chock, fix a flat just in case and a little portable road hazard sign along with a 12v portable tire inflator, my trailer tires are replaced every year and the old ones are sold on Craigslist, I've been told I'm crazy.
  9. Dobyns are way overrated imo the most overrated if you don't count Kastking, the higher end models are serviceable in a pinch though. If your a St. Croix fan check out the new Legend Xtreme AGS, amazing rods. The Steez AGS bottom contact is also special. Of course GLX, NRX, Conquest and K2 A few other rods also have that "IT" factor, but Dobyns isn't part of that list.
  10. I personally think it has gotten easier over the last few years, especially with all these bass fishing YouTube yahoo's and or influencers pushing products and unrealistic expectations due to clever video editing. People are using the next "MAGIC" product or "NEW" techniques constantly being pushed on social media and these fish see this day in day out, lures flying through the water column on 50.0:1 baitcasters because the newer generation of anglers are impatient and expect a 5+ lb "Slaunch" on every other cast. Makes it easier on myself and other more experienced anglers to follow right behind them and pick up all the fish they passed up on the weekly "THE SECRET, PROS DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW THIS" lure they were told to throw on the hourly upload. The over exposure of bass fishing has benefited the seasoned angler greatly IMO.
  11. This design has a free swinging screw lock, on the 4x4 4/0 version i use i have no hookup issues because of the free swinging screw lock
  12. Thanks for the suggestions. I have myriads of shaky heads from lead to tungsten, been fishing them for years, I'm looking for a smaller 3/0 to 2/0 version of the style in the attached image, that fit a 4.5 roboworm and bottom hopper better that a 4/0, with that worm head flush style jig.
  13. Yes.
  14. Thanks for the recommendation, I know about those, my attached picture is a totally different head and line tie.
  15. I'm looking for someone that makes a worm head style jig with a screw lock like the style I attached, but it needs to be 3/0 or 2/0, I've found a few companies that have 4/0, but I'm not interested in those.
  16. Don't leave out the Powerbait Bottom Hoppers the standard ones not the "fattys", Awesome shakyhead worm.
  17. Daiwa SV reels are gonna be the closest to a backlash free reel you can get. The Shimano DC reels are second if they are setup right, but for the Shimano DC to work properly you need minimal spool tension, so you still need to thumb them towards the end of the cast before they hit the water or you'll risk a overrun. With the Daiwa SV line you can run them with a little tighter spool tension to mitigate overrun at the end of the cast if you want to mindlessly cast all day. I've had the Metanium DC for a few months, and played with a friends Curado DC, if you went with a Shimano skip the Curado, it's clunky, the DC system is not as refined and the material used is not nearly on the same level as the Metanium DC. The Tatula SV is what I would recommend in the Daiwa line up but all of the SV reels are good. The other option is just get better with a baitcaster, if you want to chuck stuff around and not want to learn how to properly use equipment, then what other shortcuts are you taking that are potentially costing you fish?
  18. Get a faster boat to get on the spot first, then it's his problem and he's in the wrong for trying to encroach, beat him at his own game, it's a tournament after all.
  19. You won't catch fish without the line in the water, if they they aren't biting try new techniques you aren't good at or rarely use.
  20. Dubbing on the body yes, a little bucktail, rabbit zonkers claws, a few thin cut silicone strands
  21. That's why I'm sharing. The color combo works for me in a silicone jig with a reddish brown trailer, why not in a hair jig.
  22. I did not, just told the designer what I wanted.
  23. A few new items to throw around at Clearlake.
  24. That is correct, to myself the St. Croix felt better overall, I like the way the vibrations transmit through the entire handle vs the steez where it feels more dampened to me if I'm dragging a Carolina rig horizontally while the entire handle is against my side, it's still splitting hairs though, the only way to tell is fishing both on the same day, with the same line, reel and lure in the same area which I did. I feel both are a step above the NRX overall, those rods left me underwhelmed to say the least. If your on the fence between the steez and NRX I would definitely go with the Steez, no contest.
