  1. I am definitely interested in the Lund Pro V bass. I worry that I might get a case of onefootitis though. If it was 20 ft in length I would feel better about it.
  2. Thanks for all the replies. Saw in another thread that Lund is coming out with a Pro V bass boat. I'm going to give that a good look before deciding. Still considering a bay boat but most reply have been lukewarm about using a bay boat for bass fishing.
  3. Thanks for the reply. Why couldn't you cast form other directions? Did it have a tower which got in the way? What other limitations did you experience?
  4. Yeah I really like the Ranger bay boats quite a lot. I also like salt water fishing and that's how I discovered bay boats. They refer to them as bass boats on steroids and that's kinda what I'm looking for. Recently my son and I took fishing trip to Alabama and fished Pickwick and Guntersville. We really could have used a bay boat or something bigger than our 17 foot bass boat for that trip. I was surprised how rough the water can get there and how quickly it can develop. I did't mention that in my post above but that's another reason why I think I would like another boat.
  5. I currently have a bass boat but am thinking of getting something different. I like my current bass boat but it is somewhat limiting. I would like a boat that I can use for conventional bass fishing, trolling for stripers and something that can fish 3-4 guys comfortably. The more I explore boats the more I keep coming back to saltwater bay boats. Examples of the boats that I find appealing are the Ranger 2310 and 2410 bay boat and Triton 240lts. There are others I like but these are two in particular that I like and think would work well for me. I'm wondering if anyone else has jumped from a bass boat to a bay boat and what their experience has been like. I would like to see what others think. I am also considering a 'v' hulled boat like a Lund.
  6. I have a spinning reel with 15 lb braid and 10 fluoro line. Here are my reasons for this setup: 1) The flouro is practically invisible as the leader. 2) The braid is very small in diameter which allows a lot of line to go on the reel. 3) The long length of line is a bonus because it will cast a mile which is great when working certain lures such as a topwater popper. 4) I find that the braid and fluoro combo is very sensitive to strikes and I think I can feel structure better than with heavier line. 5) The lighter setup makes the 'fight' of the fish more rewarding. There are drawbacks to such a setup but I think the advantages outweigh them and this is one of my favorite setups.
  7. I have several Black Max combos. They are good combos for the money. The medium heavy on your link is especially good IMO. I think a medium heavy rod at that length is very versatile.
  8. Haven't noticed the line fray yet but will watch for it.
  9. I bought my son a Duckett Ghost rod recently. We both love it. The micro guides are quite nice. I thought they were gimmicky but they actually do seem to make the rod more sensitive to strikes.
  10. Do you have a link? I can't seem to find them at the BP web site.
  11. My son and I are going to Guntersville next week. We have never fished there before but given it's reputation we are both very excited. What approach should we take to fishing this lake at this time of the year? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  12. What is the Rage bug and where do you get them? I like Rage plastics and would love to try any new ones that come out.
