  1. The only way to repair a rod broken the way you describe, is to glue ferrules to the shaft and make it a two piece. If it's a high end rod, this would ruin the action and if it's a cheap rod, it's not worth the cost of the repair. I would only do it if it had a lot of sentimental value. Passed down from grandpa or used to belong to a pro, etc. That's my $0.02. I hope it helps. Ronnie
  2. That's what it's about! ;D Ronnie
  3. No one is picking on you. We are all friends here. This is a fishing board and "off topic' and "everything else" threads tend to get a little passionate sometimes. Don't let it bother you, we all express what we feel, based on what we believe to be true. It's a good thing we all don't think alike. A debate is just a debate. Try to learn what you can and be smarter as you go along. Keep on keeping on. We can get along even if we don't agree all the time. Thanks for your input. Ronnie
  4. I custom wrapped a Lamiglas 3wt fly rod with spinning guides just for crappie and bluegill fishing. Give it a try, you will like it. Ronnie
  5. The only thought that that site provokes is, how can anyone swallow that koolaid? I'm sorry, but that is just plain ultra liberal, way far left, silliness. JMHO Ronnie
  6. I just bought 1500 yards of 50lb Power Pro on e-bay. I will re-spool 1/2 dozen reels with it. I use braid for everything except crank baits and ultra light fishing. I like it. Ronnie
  7. I have a 2500 "Twin Power" Japanese Sustain and I love it. Very nice reel. I also have Stradics and a Stella, but if I lost this one, I would get another one. JMHO Ronnie
  8. Same thing at my Walmart. they seem to be adding/upgrading my store. 8-) Ronnie
  9. Unfortunately NASCAR is frought with this. Guys who don't cheat are the exception not the rule (pun intended). He is only among a handfull who got caught. Sad for the sport. Ronnie
  10. THANKS TEX!! That is indeed very generous. Are we there yet??? Ronnie
  11. EXCELLENT! Pond-Pro! Now start a thread asking about the best reel to pair that beauty up with. Congratulations on the new rod. Ronnie
  12. You laid out the facts about German history correctly, Glenn. However, I do not see a correlation between us and the Germans of the WWII era. Muslim extremists are out to destroy America. It has been said before, and I will say it again: we face a new generation of enemy here. Terrorists are extreme cowards. They will hide amongst innocent civilians. They stoop to levels of planting bombs on innocent children. They WILL NOT hold peace talks. Terrorists do not believe in compromise or peace. They will not be stopped until their work is done, or until someone stops them. I cannot stress that enough. You are correct and wise, way beyond your years young man. Ronnie
  13. Casting - Shimano Calais CL200A Spinning - Shimano Stella 1000FB Ronnie
  14. My current line up 2 Loomis GLX 4 Loomis IMX 1 Loomis BounceBack 3 Lamiglas 2 St. Croix SCIII I am partial G-Loomis rods. Ronnie
  15. As near as anyone can tell, MossyBacks are IMX graphite rods. It seems that Loomis has designated MossyBack as the IMX version of their "BCR" SPECIALTY RODS, e.g. Jig & Worm, Senko, Bass/Cast/Flip and Carolina Rig rods. It looks like marketing more than anything. These rods are sold as GLX and MossyBack only, there is no "IMX" version available. No need to compare the two, because you can't buy the same mossyback rod in an IMX and conversely you can't buy their traditional rods MagBass, SpinJig etc. in a mossyback. I think it is safe to say that Mossyback is IMX quality. JMHO Ronnie
  16. Avid, I'm down real good with the corn on the cob, but I have a few questions. Why would anyone eat the cuffs on a fancy shirt? Do you soufled with a torch or a hammer? Who is the Rothschild dude and why isn't he on the sign up list? Just curious ;D ;D Ronnie
  17. WELCOME to the forum! There are no best, only favorites. If you ask a more specific question, you will get a more specific answer. Try "what's the best 200 series reel for $50 or $60? Or whats the best cranking reel for under $100? Or "what are hard core smallmouth fishermen using these days"? I hope this is helpful. BTW I like Shimano reels and use them in various types and price points for all bass fishing. Also try the search feature and read the articles, there is an amazing amount of info on this site. Ronnie
  18. That's funny because Quantum is Zebco. Same company makes both reels. They also distribute Martin Fly reels and Lew's Reels. Also, being in the Shimano posse, I can't help but notice that Shimano users are slightly ahead in the poll. Ronnie
  19. Hookemdown, Sorry for hijacking your thread to make fun of gimmick lures, but I'll bet you that you won't find better information anywhere on solar/lunar phases than poasted here by Roger & Catt. Ronnie
  20. OK Robert here's the five I would choose....Their names all start with G-Loomis... JMHO Ronnie
  21. Yes, but there is a rumour that Roland Martin's Rocket Caster will be banned soon. Ronnie
  22. You said what I was thinking, but it would probably start a war. Ronnie
  23. I unplug the lights to keep cold water from breaking hot bulbs and the to prevent the longshot chance of a short circuit. JMHO Ronnie
  24. I love Shimano products and I am a card carrying member of the Shimano posse, but I have to dissagree about the warranty. Shimano will not help you with a rod unless the rod is obviously defective and you are the original purchaser. The following is copied from their respective websites. Shimano's deal.... G-Loomis asks no questions they just replace the rod..... Ronnie
  25. I likeadda spaghetti paisano Ronnie
