  1. I like to use offset shank hooks with rubber type ribbon tail worms. I use EWG hooks with Senko type baits and Fat Ikas. As far as hookup ratios, I'm not sure how much difference it makes. Ronnie
  2. Steven Howe (Yes) Leo Kotke (12 string genius) Al-DiMeola John McLaughlin Paco De Lucia Andres Segovia Michael Lorrimer Stevie Ray Vaughn John Williams Glen Campbel Melanie Safka Carlos Montoya (I touched his guitar) LOL Roy Clark (like him or not, awesome player) George Benson Earl Klue Hutson Brock Mason Williams I have to stop, I could quickly name a dozen more...... Ronnie
  3. I cut all the guides off my G. Loomis CR724 IMX and spiral wrapped the guides. How's that for a mod? Ronnie
  4. You guys will laugh, but if I am going serious crappie fishing, I take 4 or 5 bamboo cane poles and a box of 1/16 & 1/8 oz crappie jigs & some garden worms. I cover the jig hook with a worm, then I set the depth of the jigs at each pole 2' deeper than the last one. When they start hitting, I set all poles to the hungry depth. I can usually clean em up if I find what depth they are feeding. Ronnie
  5. I have rheumatoid arthritis and my hands look like a tangled mess. The palomar knot is the best thing that's happened to my fishing in years. The improved clinch knot that I used for decades is hard for me to tie. I buried a hook in my lip using my teeth to tie on a worm hook. LOL The title of this thread is best QUICKEST knot. The palomar is not only stronger with most lines, it is very easy and QUICK to tie. JMHE Ronnie
  6. If it's in good shape it's a heck of a deal. Retails for $245. I think the MB series of Loomis IMX rods are the best rod for the money there is. I have several. Jump on this one, if you don't like it you will have no trouble getting your money back. If it's broken send it to Loomis with $20 and they will send you a brand new one, no questions asked. JMHO Ronnie
  7. Sounds like the anti reverse is crapping out. I would send it back if it's in warranty or let a pro take a look at it. JMHO Ronnie
  8. If you want others to listen to what you have to say, then you must be understandable. The written word is one of the most powerful forces on earth. Written words shape the way we live and bring order to whole societies. Think about 'The Constitution', 'The Bible', 'The Credit Agreement' on your fancy bass boat. If the words are wrongly used or unintelligible, it can hurt a lot. Just ask a lawyer. LOL The above paragraph notwithstanding, Long Mike is still a crochety old fart. ;D Ronnie
  9. KYbass, The sight doesn't have any model #s or anything stamped on it. I bought it along with the arrow rest and a folding stabilizer all at the same time. That's the only way I know they are all cobra. My stuff has been around a few years so I'm not sure they still make these parts. Here's a few pics......... Ronnie
  10. Yep, you never know when the little lady might show a sudden interest in fishing. You certainly wouldn't want her to get discouraged by having to use poor quality gear. However, you may want to consider that her divorce lawyer may end up fishing with it. Ronnie
  11. Bow: Bear Super Striker XLR single cam. Rest: Cobra Carbon launcher Arrows: AFC V-Max Carbon Sight: Cobra fiber optic Broad heads: Muzzy Phantoms Ronnie
  12. Muddy's line is funny, but still the truth. I never cast any farther than the stump, rock, bush, drop-off or dock where I think the fish live. LOL Ronnie
  13. Mine are Lens Crafters prescription polarized in Ray Ban frames. I have to agree that when it comes to eye protection and seeing well, don't go the the cheap route. I also noticed when I bought my last pair, I got a much lighter shade of tinting than before and I could see much better into the water. Ronnie
  14. I use a custom Loomis SJ722 6' Med. Fast. Ronnie
  15. All are 100s. Ronnie
  16. I'm not sure I completely understand all that goes into their graphite and blank construction. What sells me on them is how light, sensitve and well made the IMX & GLX models are. Best warranty in the buisness and when you hold one in your hand or fish with it, you just know it can't be beat. You can feel a fish breath on your bait and you can fish all day and your arm isn't worn out. As far as the GL2 & GL3 models, I think you pay a little extra for the G-Loomis name. I only have one GL2 and it is an OK rod, but doesn't compare at all to the IMX. Ronnie
  17. I use my crankin stick. 7' Lamiglas fiberglass, MH power, Mod. action. Ronnie
  18. Dom, Big Game is good line, if it's on a good sale, you should give it a try. I think you will like it. Nothing beats it for the money. JMHO Ronnie
  19. WELCOME to the forum! G-Loomis rod fans (and I am one of them) will tell you they are certainly worth what we pay for them, because they are superior rods in every way. G-Loomis fans will also tell you that no other rods compare at any price. Maybe a better question would be what rods compete with Loomis in the same price range? Loomis has some low end rods (GL2) that don't compare at all to their higher end rods. You will get a lot of opinions about this. This is JMHO Ronnie
  20. Avid is so cool when his fridge breaks down, he just puts his food in his pockets so it won't go bad. JMHO Ronnie
  21. I guess my Alzheimer's is acting up again, because I have absolutely no recollection of this. No harm, no foul as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for being compassionate and following your heart. You are always OK with me Avid, but I hope you already knew that. Ronnie
  22. WELCOME ABOARD!! Ronnie
  23. Yep, the clock got alzhimers and crapped out. At least three guys will show up in Guntersville sometime in May. LOL I got a new clock and it works much better. Thanks for the heads up. Ronnie
  24. +1 8-) +2 Fastest knot that I know. + 3 Ronnie
