  1. Springy line with a lot of memory will sometimes cause a spinning reel to launch a tangled mess instead of a smooth cast. On a baitcaster, when you get that occasional overrun, springy line will make it hard to untangle stripped off line when fixing a backlash. That's my experience for what it's worth. Ronnie
  2. I'm not a big tournament fisherman, but I thought the whole idea of the 300 HP boats was to see who could get there first. I thought that drawing a better hole shot is a part of the game. First guy to the spot gets to fish it. There are rules about how close another angler can get. I don't understand the controversy. Ronnie
  3. Before you re-spool, take the rig out in the yard and send one of your kids out with the end of the line to peel off all the line. Just retrieve the line through the grass with a little tension between your fingers. That should remove the twists. Try this before you change line. Braided line will twist also if you spool it wrong. JMHE Ronnie
  4. Great review Blaine! God help me, I just HATE crankbaits! Ronnie
  5. I think my strength is, I don't get frustrated or discouraged. I keep fishing according to my plan and I believe every next cast is a chance to hook a fish. Ronnie
  6. All brakes set to off on all my bait casters. I use the cast control knob (spool tension) to adjust for lure weight. It is probably harder on the reel, but it makes adjustments for different lures so much simpler. I have gotten used to barely touching my thumb on the spool during the cast to avoid backlash. Although I still get an overrun sometimes, I'm not afraid to throw a bait as hard as I can. Ronnie
  7. Can't go wrong with the 844. My favorite rod. Ronnie

  15. That's freakin amazing!! These sound just exactly like the easy 7 pounders in my NE Lake. Who'd a thunk it? Ronnie
  16. Yep, if the union truckers get involved then heads would turn then. Do you remember the truck strike in the 70's? Didn't it last a week :-? The 70s is what I was referring to. Union drivers pay is not affected by the cost of fuel. Oil companies have some of the largest Teamster contracts out there. Union truckers have nothing to gain. Ronnie
  17. I wouldn't expect too much. Independent truckers are not well organized as a group. I don't expect many will participate. They have done this before with little or no impact. Not trying to dampen spirits, but there is some history here. Ronnie
  18. Welcome aboard! Thanks for supporting the site!
  19. Only place I have seen it is Cabella's. Here ya go... http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0030185119277a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&QueryText=yo+zuri+ultra+soft&N=4887&Ntk=Products&Ntx=mode+matchall&Nty=1&Ntt=yo+zuri+ultra+soft&noImage=0
  20. I already have some of their baits. TOP NOTCH! WELCOME!
  21. Now you know what a really smooth drag sounds like. Nice huh? I love mine. Ronnie
  22. Yo Zuri Hybrid Ultrasoft 12# will work well for almost all baitcasting applications. JMHO Ronnie
  23. I have the latest Flash player and my browser just crawls when the Allstate ad is up. When both the top ad and the side bar ad run at the same time, my system nearly stops. There's a lot of animation going on there. Don't know the answer, just letting you know. Ronnie
  24. I don't know how you came up with this. I have fished Curados for years and there is no comparison. I quit using Curados when I started using the 50 Mgs. Sold my Curados on the flea market here. JMHO Compare the schematics for the 50 Mg and the CU100b. I compared the schematics of both reels and except for a handful of springs, washers and screws, the part #s are all different. They would be the same if they were the same parts. The common washers, springs and such prove that and a lot of those are found throughout the Shimano line. I don't want to argue. I have fished with both for years and they are not the same reels by a long shot. That's only my opinion for what it's worth. I won't fight about it. Folks who study the schematics and fish them can make up their own mind. Ronnie
