  1. I have a half dozen old Shimano 50mg reels. Most are 15+ years old. Keep them clean and lubed and they are still amazing. Wouldn't trade them for anything on the market today. I paid a fortune for the first Shimano DC reel (Calcutta 2500 DC). It was and is a fine reel, but it was over-priced and wasn't the magic it was hyped to be. I'm glad I have it now, but I haven't been tempted by DC reels since. JMHO
  2. I use tiny zip lock bags for hooks and small parts. Works a charm.
  3. Toho would be fine. I should be able to make it. Sounds great!
  4. If I could only have one rod my 844 GLX would be it.
  5. I lost my wife to this terrible cancer (GBM) in 2001. 20 years later and no closer to a cure. I am heartsick for he and his family.
  6. My first time fishing in FL. My first FL fish.........
  7. On the small reservoir I fished in NJ, after picking apart all the cover & structure I would go to the middle of the lake and plop a dropshot finesse worm on the bottom and drift with the breeze. Almost always kept me from getting skunked.
  8. Caught my PB on an Arkie jig and Uncle Josh black widow eel. Used to buy #11 pork by the case. Another oldie but goodie was the "Snagless Sally" in-line spinner bait. I caught quite few fish with them back in the day.
  9. Thanks Tom, I have already ordered what I need. Have a good day!
  10. I throw frogs on my Loomis FS904 flippin stick . Its a broom handle, but invincible in heavy grass and pads. I also pitch heavy jigs, punch mats and throw medium sized swimbaits with it. I actually use it more than I thought I would. With 60lb braid, if you get wrapped up, you can land the tree too. LOL
  11. Your rods will bend more than that when you cast and 3X that when you set the hook. I doubt seriously if your rods are compromised at all.
  12. This looks like a winner. I ordered it and a new hinge pin. THANK YOU very much! BassResource for the win!
  13. Henry Ford said of the Model T, "you can have it any color, as long as it's black". I agree where worms are concerned. I have many other colors, but Black shad Culprits and black Trickworms are my go-to worms.
  14. Thanks for the effort, but the part I need is the cast metal door that wraps around the friction bushing in your link. You were close though.
  15. Surveyed a huge cypress swamp (27 square miles) in south Louisiana back in the early 80s. Most days in knee deep mud and chest deep water. Saw many gators every day but never had one come toward us. We paid them no mind and never had a problem. Now in more populated areas where suburbs have encroached on their habitat, I imagine they are more of a problem.
  16. Went fishing with a friend yesterday and had an accident that broke the mount on his trolling motor. It is an older "Motorguide" Pro series 46 SN 8M3000136. The clamp door broke and is not available anymore. I'm hoping a BR member might have an old one sitting in the garage or might know where I can find one. I am happy to pay for the part, no matter how old. This is the part I need, its the clamp door that holds the motor shaft with a few pics to help identify..... If I can't find this part, I'm going to give him the new trolling motor off my boat, any help will be greatly appreciated. God bless, Ronnie
  17. I live on the Harris chain, but Toho would be fine. Interested!
  18. You can't go wrong with "Lamiglas" blanks. Great selection for any type fishing and they have some great sales if you watch out for them.
  19. Gamakatsu octopus with an o-ring.
  20. Black shad, green pumpkin and solid black.
  21. The cork sealer looks fine. Use it.
  22. Midway had a sale on "Yum Dingers" so I bought a couple of hundred. Yep, I needed them....?
  23. Shimano Antares, because "Shimano".
