  1. Yes. I've been told but yet to witness myself that many bass here in Florida will spawn two times a year.
  2. Guess you didn't read that bait casting consists of 90% of my reel usage. Lol.
  3. You ALREADY did!!!! Don't burn it back to the boat and you shouldn't have any more issues.
  4. Razor blades. Cheap as hell just watch your storage of them. Can use one of those razor knifes that the tips break off of for quite a few seasons.
  5. Your covering a lot more bottom with your jig presentation then while drop shotting. It's a killer technique for bedding bass in the super clear and deep lakes out in Cali and other similar places.
  6. You WILL have one break at some point.
  7. There are plenty of stick baits on the list... Maybe guys just realizing you don't HAVE to pay twice the money when there are plenty of alternatives out there now.
  8. Punching= tiring from catching pigs all day!!! Lol
  9. Snapped off EWG.... Where was the hook snapped if it still had line connected?
  10. So can't the same type of structure be built on the side of an existing lake? I think yes.
  11. Growing up a friends father would fillet crappie and other panfish and the rib bones would still be intact. After skinning the fillets he would use a meat grinder and grind them up like course chopped meat. He would then add other fillers such as egg and bread and made the most spectacular fish cakes that he would fry in oil that I've had my entire life. Never did we have a problem with the bones. They DO melt in oil when that small. Whole ribcages trying to fry still attached to a whole fillet I think would be a bit different.
  12. Does this include dams they make in natural rivers to divert water into some kind of power plant used for cooling as well?
  13. Well YouTube can't be wrong in making a Legend.... If you NEVER win how do you become legendary?!? Lol
  14. Favorite is spinner bait buzz bait combo depending on water temp. Least favorite is drop shotting although it does work and can produce pigs.
  15. Great advice!!! But check the entire thread as he has stated multiple times the rod was put in there like that for pictures only. Not how he normally stores or travels any distance with them that way.
  16. X100000000 Although it doesn't seem as if some people read an entire thread before making an assumption in that your automatically in the wrong doing something a good percentage of guys are doing. I would contact shimano and see what they have to say. They stand behind their products pretty well and the worse they can say is no. I think you should really check out the pool noodle trick as it has worked well for myself a good number of guys I have told about it. Hope it helps!!!
  17. From his original post... I just started getting into fishing this year. Today I tied my 3/8 oz. chatterbait to a size 12 Eagle Claw barrel swivel. It got caught up in some weeds/lily pads so I jerked it to get it free, only to find half of the barrel swivel remaining on my line.
  18. One reason also that guys dismiss is that the longer a fish is in the water the more lactic acid build up they get during the fight. Depending on water temps and conditions this can be deadly to ANY type fish.
  19. I think his reference pic as he states in his second post has guys believing he beats and stores his rod as the picture depicts. I'm in no way saying it isn't a possibility there could have been a scratch or ding on his rod but as I said before it seems from his description it was fairly new and doesn't abuse his rods. What I am saying is that it possibly was a faulty blank as it can happen with any price range and quality of a rod. I'm also gonna go out on my own limb and say that at least 75% of the guys on here have boated or flipped fish of similar weights with zero issues and a good % of guys still do the same without the same result.
  20. The OP's rod was pretty new from his description. And the hook sets I'm referring to and there are plenty of videos showing it are guys that will reel down to 0 degrees and go BEYOND the 90degree mark. I myself tend to boat fish starting closer to a 30degree with the fishes head just coming out of the water up to about 60degrees. What I may be missing or not understanding is how it's possible for the weight exerted between 30-60 degrees holding a dead weight of 3# is greater than the force of these hook sets I see or when you have an 8-9# bass that's able to break a 12-14# drag free while holding a rod at a 45 is greater. If that was the case wouldn't people be snapping rods every time they catch a fish able to break their drag free?
  21. Mag uvibe fan also... Junebug for me though. Use them whacky also when they get beat up. Just cut off the tail and a little of hook worn head and you have a 6" stick bait.
  22. Lake musconetcong?
  23. Please explain this theory... Not sure how the angle of the rod when these home run swings happen where the fish is ultimately BELOW your feet and pulling past the 12oclock position is any worse then having your line at 6oclock and rod at say 10-11oclock positions is worse... Also.... If fish being lifted is able to cause a surge and pull a little drag during moments of the fight, how that causes more pressure when you get them boat side and are able to lift them without your drag being pulled out is any different... Which personally is my indicator if certain fish get lifted or not. If I do not have to thumb my spool to keep my drag from breaking free then I should have zero issues boating said fish.
  24. Maybe it's too violent of a hook set.... I very rarely lose fish on buzz baits and fish straight braid on all the rods I throw buzz baits with... If your hooks are SHARP and just give a slight sweep of the rod when you feel the weight of the fish you should have almost zero problems. Plastics are a bit different depending on the bait itself and how far through the plastic your hook point needs to travel before it's even able to penetrate a fishes mouth. Too many people out there with the home run swings when using a line with ZERO stretch IMO.
