  1. Sounds like Carolina rigs aren't on your favorites list either from another post you've made. Lol. Me as well.
  2. Size and hooks used have me thinking solid. But a bow in your line while reeling doesn't make a ton of sense. My line with solid bodies tends to go straight from my rod tip to the frog especially in cover.
  3. Nothing is ever dumb in fishing. Look at the size of OUR brains compared to theirs.... Now who's dumb??? Lol. Consistency is key. There are reasons whacky rigs work as they emulate something in the water a fish will eat. This however I have no idea. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut on occasion.
  4. Is this a solid plastic frog or hollow body? Hollow bodies tend to be a little harder with hookup rates.
  5. Key... Bottom half white. Bass see most baits from underneath them. White worms do work and especially if they've never seen them on the waters your fishing.
  6. No problem. Hope you enjoy!!! Go get em!!!!
  7. Pictures are in his original post.
  8. I don't know or use a ton of different knots myself but check out knot wars on YouTube. Will explain a lot of where these kinks as you say are coming from.
  9. The eye of your hooks aren't square are they? What would cause the kink on your hook? Your knot...
  10. I myself use two brands and both have been good to me so far. Power pro and suffix 832. Don't have much experience with too many others as I haven't found much reason to go beyond those two. I would start with either 30 or 40# and those two will cover a majority of applications you may come across. Anything lighter tends to start to bury itself in the spool because of its small diameter.
  11. Using braid you always have the option to use a leader in clear water or different lure applications. Using a braid leader trying to get the added sensitivity would do absolutely zero for you.
  12. You may want to think about a MH mojo. And I would definitely try braid if your missing a lot of hookups. There's almost ZERO stretch with braid where flouro averages about 15-20% stretch and mono put to almost 40%.
  13. Simply stated.... Manufacturer grease SUCKS. Take it apart and clean the grease outbandbuse a high quality reel lube and all should be ok. The coming and going part... Do you notice it happens more as the reel gets "warmed" up? Whether from actual use and even outside temperatures?
  14. Doesn't your profile say your PB is between 4-5lbs?
  15. Is that a twist lock frog hook? Where do the hooks come out from?
  16. Wouldn't this theory depend on which knots your using?
  17. Not sure how much you've used these reels as I also have both as well but use more for saltwater applications. The bait feeder options do NOT work from hook setting motion. They click back into gear when the handles are turned. If your plan to use the 4500 for bass fishing I would seriously reconsider unless your 6'6" and 300lbs. It's a pretty heavy reel to try to work any type of baits with. The okuma is more towards the size I MAY consider for bass for your jigging applications and such. Still a little on the heavy side to use all day. I would consider using braid to save some piece of mind as both tend to allow line to loosen up with straight mono on them. The only way you can and will prevent it is to have a constant pressure on your line. They are great reels for bait fishing for larger species of fish but aren't best suited for strictly bass fishing and especially for moving type baits that need to be constantly caster and retrieved. Just my opinion but as I said before I do own both and love them both but you'd be better suited for bass fishing with a couple different reels then those.
  18. In a NONdisrespectful meaning look where he is from. Those crazy Canucks. Lol
  19. Best answer IMO. Only time I will pause briefly is if the frog is being fished over SUPER heavy stuff. Then just a brief drop the rod and set.
  20. White Python killer in the mornings from the few times I've gotten out early enough to use them.
  21. That's Franchos point I believe. You won't know how much YOU like them or exactly how the action is until YOU try them yourself. Anyone here can tell you they suck but you could take to your home waters and clean house.
  22. Instead of under a float, try under docks!!!
