  1. They either overpack or bone dry as you received. Not many I've seen out of the box with just the right amount.
  2. The picture was taken to show the bed of his truck. Not how he always stores his rods.
  3. Haha.... Mines still going strong. Still have mine with 15lb braid on reel and never an issue. That rod takes almost every trip with me and always gets a dozen or so casts. Never has failed me or given up. Mine is from around the same time. When I graduated HS.
  4. Zman. For those NED rigs. TRD's I believe they are packaged as. Not something that's gonna be seen in Florida for I while I think. Not much use.
  5. I agree 100000%. Way too many guys stick with an old school mentality. Like the home run swing hook sets that were the norm YEARS ago to compensate for the stretch mono has.
  6. So if he jumped to Eagle Claw would they be the next best hook out on the market?
  7. You would probably be better served with a medium especially with the archangel series blanks. It's certainly possible with a MH but don't think you'll feel the extra sensitivity your seeking with the MH.
  8. I think his wording and more knowledge of how fish populations are actually counted would have served him better. Asking about what each persons avg numbers per acre they fish would have been a way better way to ask this.
  9. That's not nice.... Isn't NO question stupid they say???
  10. Most places with trophy fish have fish camps and their own boats and guides. Not places I would wanna go out on my own anyway. I know an 80 year old man I dig with goes every year to el Salto every year with zero problems and has been going for 15 years.
  11. Someone please tag this with best answer!!!!!
  12. Not at all. 65lb is common for frog use and for flipping and pitching in the thickest stuff you can find. I know a few guys that even use 80lb. My most common are 30-50lb depending on what baits I'm gonna throw.
  13. Terminator makes a very similar bait as the one your holding.
  14. Great catch. Closer to 5-6 lb range IMO. Invest in a new scale.
  15. Way too random to ask. It has to do with size of the lake firstly and then obviously the amount of forage in each specific lake. Lake Okeechobee is 451,000sq acres where as your local small pond may only be 5 acres. That number is obviously gonna be different.
  16. I have a friend who is a marine biologist and avid bass fishermen who has told me that this is a common occurrence in places such as Florida and Mexico due to the water temps always remaining over their favored spawning temps. I've been told that the same bass will be full of eggs and drop them in feb/match and then again August/sept. The temperatures staying so high screws with them and tricks their bodies into producing eggs a second time in one calendar year. I'm sure their are also some variables as to which places this normally occurs such as fishing pressure/stress on certain bodies of water.
  17. Fish during the rain especially if it's been hot. Grab some rain gear and head out.
  18. X2 Devils Horse
  19. This is the exact same bait he said he already has. Line wise I use braid on all my rods but some prop baits need a mono leader for its floatational qualities and rigidness to prevent prop fouling.
  20. I've tied 80 flouro and hooks the same size typical to bass fishing and never had any issues. I think you would run into the fact it won't fit through the eye itself before you should have these kinking issues. It can definitely be bent and be weakened but using the correct knots normally prevents this.
  21. Also any areas is gets cooler temps the more issues your going to have with greases. Maybe shimano has a decent grease they use but their application of it can be overkill or zero like you've stated.
  22. Meaning? How is there no difference between a grease consistency and an oil? Grease can get gummy and collects any kind of dust or sand a lot easier then a decent synthetic reel oil will. Oil creates way less resistance.
  23. If they never hit the water before you shouldn't have any issues. But if you use one and then store it and use following seasons your begging for a failure. Forget it if they ever touch salt.
  24. Why wait until fall? Spinnerbaits this time of year can be deadly. They can be worked in all areas ofbthebwate column. Burn it so it causes a wake and very similar to a wake bait. Count them down and fish them at a certain depth. Or can be jigged up off the bottom and the blades will helicopter until it touches bottom again. I grew up in NJ and used them from ice out until we got ice again.
  25. Hollow body frogs are typically worked like a Zara spook or other similar "walk the dog" type baits. If you are just reeling in a hollow body frog your not doing it any justice. That being said I have had them been hit before while burning the frog back to make my next cast but not the typical action you want it for.
