  1. Sounds mostly what I just said about them bedding. Although if your finding bedded pairs and it takes 10 casts to hook into one you may want to try something besides your Maribou jigs. I saw and caught several this past Wednesday that were bedded just between woolbright and boynton beach blvd. Was the fish in your avatar caught from any of the deep holes my original title refers to?
  2. This answers what??? I guess I should now change my title to how to catch peacocks from the shore....
  3. USE IT!!!!! They work especially well at night in black. Try using near pads with a 12" worm hooked trigged and they imitate snakes very well and get crushed early mornings.
  4. Wouldn't a bit of logical thinking tell you that NLMB would eat a fish more readily available the further north you go? Why would Florida strain bass be accustomed to eating forage rarely seen in Florida waters? Most of central to south Florida waters get way too warm for trout to survive yet thrive? Fish in general will eat whatever available forage is around that has the highest fat content. FLMB have thrived in south Cali because of the depths of those reservoirs allow the trout to go deep enough to stay in cooler water. NLMB eat trout and have been for years. I grew up fishing a small trout stocked pond and whenever the hatchery truck showed up the larger bass started to school around and would crush anything rainbow trout colored and large baits as well. Another favorite of NLMB to use patterns of are herring. Another high fat content forage fish.
  5. And definitely a mudfish/bowfin.
  6. LMB tails will look like that also when they are prepping beds to spawn in especially in areas where there is rock under the silt they move away to create their beds.
  7. Sweet catch. Always fun catching fish with super distinct patterns or colors.
  8. There's a few here and there bedded up but have noticed most aren't paired up yet. I normally see the mate hanging around the weed sections around the beds but only saw two pairs this past Wednesday. Seems like most are still cruising. A ton of tilapia using the beds now and I think the peas take over when the tilapia are done. My guess is in about 2-3 weeks they'll be bedding in pairs and heavy into it. It becomes almost too easy to catch them at that point. Lol. Small xraps with fastach so they sink slowly are DEADLY for them on the beds. Let sink to bottom of the bed if it even makes it and then one small twitch and fish on. In rare occasions you may have to cast a second time to the bed. If they miss it really ticks them off and become even more super aggressive.
  9. And this answers what?
  10. What area do you think I'm speaking of? Between the two lakes and connecting canals there are a few places with 30+ FOW. If your looking for any tips on eithe place just shoot me a PM
  11. Any guys using these for bass? What times of year do they work best for you?
  12. Anyone ever hear of a hook hone???? Rub said bent or dull hook along this little file type thing and low and behold a sharp hook!!! Same kinda situation is when people just toss certain worms or senkos away. If you rig Texas style mostly and tear the ends just snip torn end off and use for whacky rigging. Especially if someone is using o-rings. Sounds as if everyone on here has an unlimited amount of cash to throw away. It just confuses me how little people reuse certain baits and consider them throw aways.
  13. Was out last Wednesday. Weeks before plenty of numbers and a few 2-5lb fish each trip. Last week the water temps were above 90 and had a hard time catching anything other then mudfish.
  14. If you ever have an open seat let me know. I'm always willing on giving out whatever info I know about whatever waters I have fished. Nobody I currently fish with does any tourney fishing so he spots we find are open info. Would love to learn some new waters also as my main fishing partner is 81 years old and doesn't venture out very far from where we are located. We have consistently found plenty of fish and areas that hold a lot of fish. Just uncertain as to what baits and presentations may work better to up our numbers. 2 weeks ago we sat on a spot in Ida for 2.5 hours catching more then 3 dozen fish between us and was mixed bag of peacocks sunshine and LMB. M major question is should I be dragging the bottom in 30+ FOW or should I be looking at a certain depth and target them there? There's not much in the way of bottom structure in any of the places we've found.
  15. I think the question is on YOUR average day.
  16. They are AWFUL!!!!!! Wires open p and swivel and blades fall off. Had it happen to 6-7 I've owned.
  17. There are a few places I've found with some deeper water in between these lakes and one deep water section in Ida itself. My question is... I'm ASSuming these areas should be holding plenty of fish and a few biguns at that. He one area is 35 FOW. The other is 18 FOW and both areas loaded with bait LMB peacock bass and sunshine bass as well. I'm looking to target mostly the LMB. Wha types of lures/baits would you be using to reach these bigger deeper fish?
  18. Any advice on lake Ida this time of year and any certain areas?
  19. What lakes are you fishing?
  20. Luckily living in south Florida my 5 fish totals avg anywhere from 15-20 lbs. have a had a few days on certain lakes where that number has topped 30#. Although those are pretty exceptional days. The Everglades tourneys I read about consistently have 25# plus bags as their winners.
  21. Simply tighten your tension knob a little as line coming off your spool to fast at the beginning of your cast is most likely your culprit. Also check that your know is super tight around the wire of the main line tie as loose knots will allow the line to shift on the wire bend causing more force towards the outside of the wire arm causing it to start a spin. Weird analogy but think of a curveball being thrown with a baseball. More pressure on one side causes the extra spin. Lastly, try using a bit more thumb at the BEGINNING of your cast and allowing to free spool in mid air and then thumb pressure again as spool is slowing down. The hook and blades should be leading your bait through the air as the friction from your line alone should hold back the line enough to prevent the extra spin.
  22. Buzzbait. Start around the box a few casts to see if any interest and if any signs of interest cast directly over said bass box and speed up retrieve as if the bait has seen her and scurrying away quickly may cause a reaction strike.
  23. Only 3 flouro manufacturers??? May want to check out a better bait shop... BERKLEY vanish I would guess is made by BERKLEY.... I've used their line from 6lb test drop shotting in Cali up to their 20lb for leader material for several types of fish and never had any issues. Sounds to me like it may be faulty knots or user error.
