  1. Before you tie up heat the hook eyelet with a lighter and then slide bait into desired position and then ad you drop of super glue. Makes them almost invincible.
  2. Why do you think casting gear is more effective then spinning in these applications?
  3. I myself do use bait casters at least 90% of the time. However others make this sound as if it is not possible at all. Which again is not the case. Almost anything we can do with bait casters can also be done with spinning gear as well. Maybe the spinning users aren't able to train themselves to use a casting reels themselves However their outfit does not in any way limit the lures and presentations available to them. I fish with a guy who uses spinning gear only and can outcast myself and is way more accurate. I personally grew up throwing lipless baits for many years with plenty of success using spinning gear. Throwing lipless and spinnerbaits and buzz baits as well. I also believe today there are quite a few more higher ratios for spinning reels available. Why should they be limites their bait "traditionally" labeled for casting reels?
  4. Looks good. As long as you don't see any significant bowing in the middle of the rods you should be just fine. However keep in mind the heat inside your car can get well over the actual temps outside the car. An issue you may run into is the grease inside your reels liquefying and possibly leaking out.
  5. Interesting. Have you had the chance to weigh them yet?
  6. But you noticed a significant difference in the 5" versions?
  7. What differentiates the potential of this tiny fish making it to trophy size as compared to the 3lb fish? Chances of fish making it to double digits Also depends on strain of bass and location.
  8. The 4" dinger fall rate weightless is soooo close to a Senko, that it's almost a non issue. How does this work? Are you saying a 4" dinger weighs more then the 5" dinger?
  9. Was trying to figure this statement out myself. I'm a bit perplexed as to how he doesn't care for it yet seems to like using it because of the qualities he explains.
  10. I don't believe he was speaking of the fish in question as neither a sea bass nor freshwater bass. If so an upsize in equipment and line could have prevented his problem. OP. What kind of fish do you believe this fish was? What size gear were you using? Line, rod, reel etc...
  11. Was the boat anchored? If so there is not much to be done. A party boat captain is not gonna lift the anchor and take all the other paying fares to see what ONE singular fare may have on. It's the chances you take. After working these types of boats in NJ for Fluke, strikers, blues and tuna my best advice is to fish the stern as most captains will angle the bow into the current so naturally the flow of water will pull fish away from the stern.
  12. Tom, this area isn't very productive at all. The Resevoir above and river below hold the majority portion of the bass I believe he's chasing. The area he's explaining has very little in the way of bass and if any they are all very very shorts. 6-8" at best is the regular.
  13. Try the Passaic river if your interested in river fishing. Contains not only bass but pike as well. Rolo had great advice in trying greenwood lake as well. Tappan lake I believe also holds a decent amount of bass but not sure how much is actually in NJ. I can give you a ton of places and a few hook ups to some private lakes if your willing to travel to Morris and Sussex counties. PM me if you want any details.
  14. Maybe it's not the fish that are so DUM....
  15. How is this possible? He's stated that bass do not feed off the bottom.
  16. So you have your starting point. 150$ max. Now it's up to you if you want a new or used rod. Used may get you a "better" higher quality rod but could also cause a lot of heartbreak. Plenty of high quality rods in that range to narrow down. Best advice is to go to local shop and feel for yourself. Some guys like med action up to guys using heavy action rods. Sensitivity is something only YOU can feel for yourself. Too many people worry about what the masses think.
  17. It's all PERSONAL preference. Use what feels right for YOU.
  18. Looks to me as if he's trying to find a material to COVER the cork and not how to clean it.
  19. The line tangles around the PROP!!!!!
  20. I would probably choose a more productive area where you can fish to your strengths.
  21. FALSE statement!!!! And quite honestly the distance lipless can be thrown with a spinning reel is probably way further then any bait casting reel. FYI. Avid bait casting user here... Probably consists of 90% of my uses.
  22. This is the furthest from truth!!!! And burning lipless baits is VERY possible with spinning reels!!!
  23. Please post video of these 75-100 yard casts. I'm sure we can ALL learn something from anyone who can cast that far. What current setup are you achieving this with? I want to order mine tomorrow!!!!! I hope they come in lefty.
  24. Seems to me the OP asked about Clear Lale and Lake Fork. I didn't see anything about Toledo Bend. Your reasoning about fish mortality is beyond me. How are tournaments held on ANY Florida waters? Our water temps here rarely get BELOW 70 degrees at any time of year. So with your reasoning there would be a 100% mortality rate at every event held in Florida.
  25. Being a distance king is equal to girls being a size queen. Lol. Learn to control your placement before you worry about distance. Learn to cast at all angles. Backhand forehand underhand overhead and all angles in between. When you can accurately cast all these different ways then turn around and check your distance. It will have increased significantly.
