  1. Ive used yozuri for the last 5 years probably, but this year i'm switching to Mustad Thor line. Its a great abrasion resistant line like hybrid but has less memory. Check it out.
  2. theres a reason they push them, because they are the best. They dont want a $120 reel to break and you to return it, so they give you the most reliable product. The stradic is great. Diawas just dont last as long.
  3. You can beat the Shimano Citica / BPS extreme rod combo for $169
  4. that combo does not have an extreme rod, just the reel and its an older reel. It is a cheaper rod.
  5. Its also not an extreme rod on the cheaper one.
  6. Can you use an airbrush on a softbait to add color to it? Do you need to put some sort of coating on it after so the paint stays? thanks
  7. without a doubt the revo stx. hell I would probably buy a revo s instead of the quantum. Although the revo's are new and no one knows if they will hold up over time, its already been proven that the quantum PT wont hold up over time, so why buy it?
  8. hot sauce is the worst thing you can put in a reel
  9. check out tackle tours review of all the different versions of flourocarbon, vanish rated the worst by far.
  10. how often have you cleaned it, oiled it and greased it? Baitcasters need this every few trips, chances are you havent been taking care of your stuff.
  11. HAHAHA loomis blanks for cabelas rod. GEEEZ. CArt7 has it right, most companies dont make there own reels. Although a lot of cabelas reels are Diawa, which makes there own reels. Pflueger, Shakespeare, Silstar, Bass Pro, Browning, Pinnacle, etc, they all come from the same place in china, slap a name brand on em and sell them.
  12. The number of bearings means nothing. The quality of the bearings means everything. More bearings doesnt = smoother reel, quality gears and quality bearings do. Companies put 10 bearings in a $59.99 reel to fool dumb fisherman into thinking they are getting a great reel for the money, while you'd be better off with a couple good Japanese bearings. Diawa uses a combination of high quality bearings and lesser quality bearings to get their count up, which seems like a good compromise.
  13. I would strongly suggest steering clear of the pflueger supreme. When you pick it up it feels cheap. The handle on it is very cheap and will most likely wear away. I know its made of magnesium and light, but they put no protective coating on it, like other manufactures do on their mg reels. Also, I know they want to make a light reel, but the holes in the ported spool are WAY to big, anything could get in there to effect you reeling ability, like seaweed or a stick or line. If you want a high quality reel in that same price range you have to get a shimano or a diawa... even quantum might be better than the supreme. mktrout
  14. they have real fish skin around the outside of them molded to the lure, that they peel off of an actual fish. You'll pay for them once everyone starts talking about how good they are. $49.99 will buy a lot of live bait though.
  15. they are going to be $49.99 each
  16. they are far from a good fishing store, they never know what they are doing and usually have no one even working the department
  17. quest isn't a dicks exclusive but its the only place i've seen spinning and casting rods by them. LL bean sells their fly rods. They are just the same el cheapo rods as other cheap rods with a different name and logo on them.
  18. yea but crystal fireline isnt clear and its not braid
  19. Hawgin - Triumphs and premiers are built on the exact same SCII blank. Good try though.
  20. you definitely don't want to use that reel for lipped crank baits unless your trying to build muscle in your arm.
  21. just wondering how you guys organize your hooks, jigs heads, weights etc. Its a losing battle in my boxes. Also, what do you use to store your minnow, soft plastic swimbait type stuff. thanks
