  1. I see a lot of people using light wire hooks and saying that everyone should use them because the hook sets can be so much easier and yadda yadda, I was just wondering how many of you guys actually use them. Most of my fishing is done with ethier braid in the 30-50lb range or FC in the 12-14 lb range so I don't use light wire much. However on my light spinning setups with really small braid or FC I'll throw on a light wire hook.
  2. Don't try one retrieve then give up, try multiple retrieves at different speeds until you find what works best...
  3. Doesn't bill dance use quantum? Just wondering
  4. Thanks for all the options guys, if I go by academy this week I'm gonna see if they have any of the ones y'all mentioned or some ones y'all haven't mentioned... If they don't have any good ones I'll just order one
  5. Salmon is probably my favorite fish with tilapia close... I love bass and speckled perch too.... EDIT: I almost forgot, I eat canned tuna almost everyday so that's pretty good too!
  6. Have you used em? are they good for the money
  7. Hey guys, what are some good crankbait rods y'all like in the 20-75$ price range? I've used berkly cherrywood rods that are 20$ and they are decent but I wanna try something new.... I would prefer a 6'6 or 7'0 medium power moderate/fast action rod for squarebill crankbaits.
  8. If were talking only freshwater I like catching chain pickerel, but I've never fished for pike or muskie sadly
  9. Two punks took a 4$ pack of worms from me and ran off from a dock I was fishing real quick haha just glad nobody's ever took anything of real value from me...
  10. This is the size weight I was using, it seems a lot more than a 1/4oz lol, where I fish its 6 feet deep and has a good bit of grass but I wasn't fishing really heavy grass.
  11. Lol I don't know the specific weights of my sinkers... I just have a big pile and I eyeball it and just grab the right size one for the job.... Maybe I need to get more organized
  12. The only places I've ever had luck with tubes is rivers so I think they work... Some people swear by them for small mouth.
  13. How shallow is really shallow where your fishing?
  14. So I've always just used the lightest weight I can get away with for Texas rigs besides when fishing matted grass/hydrilla or something like that, but today I deciedied to give heavy weights a try with a rage craw on the rig. It worked well even though it was shallow and could have easily been fished weightless but I liked it because it caught just as many fish as a weightless approach but I could catch fish and cover water a lot faster... I was just giving it a really fast hop and letting it fall and as soon as it hit the bottom I would give it another pop or two, occasionally letting it sit motionless for about 10 seconds. I'll definitely be trying this more. I did it because of the recent talks about fishing Texas rigs slow/fast Idk if it would work with baits that aren't imitating craws like trick worms or creatures, it had the perfect craw action with the sudden jolts of movement!
  15. They are still happening but its less frequent today, thanks for the replies guys!
  16. This thread was like almost a month old and somebody started the argument again.
  17. Like real meat!?! Haha wow thanks for the link
  18. I used the shimano zeles combo and liked it. Its a 6.4:1 reel on a medium heavy fast action rod, its a good entry level combo that can be used for lots of things and I got on sale for less than 75$ but I think it normally runs for 100-150$
  19. What is a pork trailer? I've heard of people talking about jig & pig but never understood it
  20. My grandpa caught 2 bass awhile back with a trailer less jig and it blew my mind...
  21. I'm a sports guy and I've ran cross country and wrestled for a few years now and we train pretty hard and I've never had these weird spasms... I guess I've never held a weedeater this long before ethier haha its probably something I'll just get used to... Everyone that works out knows that the day after the day after is when the soreness is the worst... I just hope its not the case with these spasms
  22. I started using shakey heads this year and they have saved me many times from getting skunked lol...
  23. Well I got a new job doing lawn work and its good and all but I just had a really long day yesterday of the normal stuff carrying heavy equipment and what not, and its got my arms really sore. I've got this spasm in my arm that's been bothering me all day today, its a little jolt that happens every few seconds right above my elbow in my left bicep that feels like a little shock. Anybody know what could cause this and if there is anything I can do to get it to go away faster? Oh and by the way it didn't start bothering me immediately after work, it was after I woke up the next morning Hopefully itll go away in atleast a few days, but only time will tell.
  24. When I first started using baitcasters I only had one backlash I couldn't get back out... Maybe I was just lucky, I like to think I'm a natural though haha
