  1. I'd say a baitcasting combo.... A 6.4 casting reel on a MH fast action rod is pretty versatile. But you can't go wrong with spinning or casting, it comes down with what you want and how you want to fish em.
  2. Thanks guys maybe I won't paint them, I bought a boatload of new lead weights and their all shiny because my academy only carrys shiny ones, only black weights they had were tungsten and my wallet doesnt like tungsten compared to a 1.50$ pack of lead weights lol
  3. I'm about to spray paint all my lead weights black just to be on the safe side but do you guys think lead weights like 1/4 and up that aren't black scare fish sometimes? Oh and I'm mainly worried about Texas rigs btw
  4. Bass is one of my favorite eating fish....
  5. Lol I remember saltwater fishing for anything that was biting one day and a big lady fish bit my lure, which was a lipped bait with 3 treble hooks on it. I set the hook right at the boat and it flew out and hit me in my eyeball and maybe my eye really red. How I didn't get my face messed or or go blind from a hook in the eye beats me... I never wear sunglasses but accidents like that make me want some
  6. I use a white jig in a crystal clear lake near me and it works good when its flipped into holes in matted grass....
  7. I had a johnny morris for like a month and the drag broke on it, sent it in under warranty and got my new one. Its a good reel. That's the only bad experience I've had with it.
  8. From my experience PP super 8 slick digs in the least of any braid I use... 2nd place goes to 832
  9. I've gotten in the habit of no matter what size fish I hook I start saying "oooooo this is a nice one, yup its a nice one" even if its a dink haha
  10. Its different for every lure, for spooks if they slap it or strike and miss I like to just stop it completely and wait... After 5 or so seconds if they haven't struck again I'll give it a few twitchs. Then if that fails I just start my normal retrieve again..
  11. All I gotta say is the band crossfade was my entire childhood.... That's the only band I can sing Every song haha
  12. I've always heard of people catching bass with handprint infections from where people have grabbed bass but personally think that's stretched from the truth... I could believe that except for the handprint shape lol.... When I release bass I'll hold them under their belly and put them in the water horizontally sometimes and I don't think it hurts but who knows
  13. In my local lake 5+ is pretty big
  14. I got these at the lake, that spot in the background is our pond haha
  15. But that doesn't wear you out! Haha man I'm tired after a whole day of cranking squarebills on a 6.4....
  16. Its really all about preference. Most people like a 6.4 or 7.1 for lipless cranks for example but KVD uses a 5 point something sometimes for his lipless cranks. I'm surprised at some of y'all saying y'all fish squarebills with a below 6 reel.... I use a 6.4 only.
  17. Ehh who uses the search function anyways...
  18. Go to the store and buy some bullet sinkers that weigh anywhere from 1/16 - 1/4 and get some 2/0 straight shank worm hooks, then go to the worm section and buy some zoom trick worms, any colors should be fine. Slide the bullet sinker on your line pointy end first then use your favorite fishing knot to Tie the hook on. Then take the point of the hook and go through the tip of the worm and out its bottom and pull the hook through until you get to the little bend and flip it around and push it back into the worm making it weedless. This is called a Texas rig and is very good for beginners and catches fish any time of year!
  19. Yup yup, danny is good, I've watched a few of his movies too
  20. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/138991-arbogast-buzz-plug-jr/?fromsearch=1 Somebody already posted this awhile back and I gave a pretty detailed answer with my opinion
  21. Today's bass bite was great at banks lake GA! I caught loads and brought these home, caught a 4lb bass but no huge ones got lots of good jacks too. Started the day with a zoom speed craw as a topwater and caught a good bit and when the sun came up switched to a squarebill and continued to catch em then later the bite slowed alot and i went to a texas rigged rage craw. Its great having days like these every now and again!
  22. How about dean martin or Perry como , any of y'all like them??
  23. Yup very rarely do you need to have a slow retrieve with a square bill, you want then to hit the thing before they even know what it is! But some days I have done very slow retrieves over and beside grass and lillys with success
