  1. Only one way to find out! Go fish!
  2. Bigger bill generally the deeper diver... I reccomend that every time you open a new crank you get a sharpee and write the depth range on the bottom of the crank.
  3. The rod has more to do with casting distance than the reel IMHO
  4. Aaron martens is diffenetly top ten...
  5. Its obviously a work in progress and a new concept, its great to see people using their minds trying to invent better reels.
  6. Sweet! Congrats on the fish
  7. There would still be backlashes I would assume, he said something about feathering the spool.
  8. Yeah it does look cool, and complicated... But like all things it will be improved with time..
  9. One day I cast a soft plastic lure out and forgot to engage the spool and before I switched hands I gave it a few pops and something grabbed it, I switched hands and tried setting the hook and created the mother of all birds nest...
  10. I watch fox on TV but when I'm on the computer I use CNN just because I like their website and its easy to use... EDIT: Im reading some stuff on this empire website and its ridiculous, I'm such an idiot for thinking this was a legitimate news site.
  11. I'm glad you bought it! 64$ is a steal considering the zeles combo is worth paying the full 120$... I use a black max combo a family member has all the time while they fish with me and I would give the edge to the zeles, but dont get me wrong the black max is an alright combo... The reel on the black max is a good beginner reel but I don't care for the rod very much. You will be very pleased with the zeles and I look forward to your review! I'm curious did you order the 7' MH fast action one or the 6'6 medium fast action one? I'm only familiar with the medium heavy.
  12. Oh thanks for letting me know guys.... Probably shouldn't have believed it so easy. A Freind sent me the link and he is a huge NASCAR fan so I figured he knew it was true. Great to hear its a hoax though!
  13. That's why I always have my camera ready to go, won't take me more than 5-10 seconds to take a picture... But if you were by yourself you wouldn't have gotten a good picture anyways! Glad you had a good day of fishing!
  14. What brand were these frogs?? I've never had that happen and I fish in 95+ degree heat all the time.
  15. http://empirenews.net/nascar-tony-stewart-to-announce-retirement-from-auto-racing-after-accident-that-kills-competing-driver/#.U-0bQEZgKwo.facebook There goes another good racer....
  16. I've thrown stinger treble hooks on crank baits but to get it to run good and straight you have to experiment a lot... whether it be changing hook sizes up and down or even removing the back treble all together and replacing it with a stinger. That being said it doesn't work great... crankbaits are meant to be bumped, banged, and ripped off and through cover to be fully effective and having a trailer hook hanging off the back farther than a normal hook will just get you hung up that much more. But one story I have is one day at a place called rays mill pond, which is a crystal clear shallow lake I fish, I was fishing KVD square bills and bass kept coming and taking a shot at my crankbait but always coming up short. So to solve the problem I took the back treble off and replaced it with a stinger treble hook and started hooking up a lot! A lot of times a simple change in lure color can get them to start hitting it better, or switching from silent to rattles or vice versa. This is a stinger hook if your not familiar with it, you don't have to use a wire one either, you can easily tie your own using fishing line. Also be aware that you will foul hook more fish this way, a lot of time they will get the back treble and during the fight the front treble will swing around and hook them out of them mouth, that's from my experiences at least.
  17. I don't fish deep lakes, The lake I fish is 6-8 foot deep average with some places being 12 and I almost never use my fish finder... I pretty much know where everything is now but I always used heavy jigs, Carolina rigs to find the edges of grass, Cyprus knee systems, little humps, etc etc...
  18. You mean this rig? that's pretty sweet, I might have to try that the next time I go salt fishing!
  19. lately I've been starting with a top water like a buzz bait, frog, or popper in the morning then when that slows ill switch to a crank bait, Texas-Rig, Carolina-Rig, start flipping and pitching, or something along those lines... Its really different on a day to day basis.
  20. The way I've always saw it is that before the storm there is a low pressure causing bass to feed and after the storm there is high pressure causing bass bite to slow...
  21. My actual oldest lures I own is probably creek chub injured minnows or jitterbugs, I have a bunch that are 30+ years old...
  22. Welcome to the forums! Nice to meet ya Brennan
  23. What the?
  24. 1. There are soooo many hard baits and Soo many plastics that is a broad question... 2. You don't need to worry a whole lot about color starting out, just throw the colors you ha ve the most confidence in! 3. The rage craw diffently doesn't have to be thrown on a rocky bottom, they can be fished pretty much anywhere and will produce. 4. Dropshotting the finesse worms or flukes can produce very well sometimes, but he Texas rig is a rig everyone should get familiar with. I reccomend buying some hooks and sinkers and practicing the Texas rig! 5. You got that pretty figured out, but they will both produce in both conditions on then right days... 6. I don't fish chatterbaits someone else will have to chime in on that.... 7. For clear water ethier bright or natural colors produce well for me, in muddy/low via water I have much more confidence in a bright color like chartreuse than black, for crankbaits that is. There's my quick answers, but again I'm sure all these questions have been answered in the past with much much more detail, give em a search!
  25. I might have to go buy one of these mettles if I can find one at 25$ like kikstand mentioned!
