    Don't know anything about MN lakes, but, in Ohio, I use mostly jigs and drop shots when I'm on the lake. But my go-to bait is the Gary Yamamoto 7" green pumpkin. Caught a 9 pounder off that last week. That's a big fish in Ohio

    i like this!!! this combo actually works very well in fast flowing rivers. I used to have the same combo. kinda snapped the rod though.

    no spring here in Ohio. This weather really needs to go away already. Can't even hit the river from all the rain.

    Usually in the winter or early spring, I go for stocked pond bass.. hah.. Not too much going on in the rivers with a winter we just had in OH. If you have a boat, get out there and work the banks with jigs, spinner baits, rooster tails, or 5" Yamamoto Green Pumpkin plastics. Works great for me!! But on the other hand, I had a good laugh when you said you were gonna get out in January.
