  1. Speaking of gold and Colorado; Isn't that where that Acapulco Gold is legal?
  2. If you don't mind, could you give this newbie bank fisherman some pointers on fishing a Toad?Or anybody!?
  3. Nice bass OP! Can you do me and maybe others a favor and give a quick review of your kayak. Likes, dislikes, for those of us looking to buy. Thanks in advance and good luck fishing!
  4. Bump and following because I'm in the same boat too (no pun intended). Looking to buy a similar kayak as the OP.
  5. Thanks from me too. I'd like to add a bit of info as well. Thinking back, a couple of days before and the day of the last full moon, the bite was on. The evening of the full moon, I had a little time to fish. 13 casts, 6 fish up to 4-5 lb, 2 lost which spit the hook and 2 hits missed. Then 1 or 2 days later, that all changed. Going to go to BPS and try some of these suggestions so I can start catching bass bigger than my hand.
  6. I hear ya, but let me ask you this because I don't know the answer. I bank fish in a man made big pond. How do I find the hard sand bottom?
  7. Sounds like we're in the same boat so to speak. I know it's called fishing and not catching for a reason, but this is getting frustrating, going out nearly a dozen times a catching 2 tiny ones. Maybe I need to have more patience. I'm trying different things too. Went to BPS and bought a mouse and fished that slow on and near Lilly pads, nothing. I guess trying a different pond/lake is an option.
  8. Started bass fishing in Feb. this year. Bank fishing a pond here in Fla. about 120 acres +/-. Up until a week or so ago, I was doing fairly well, fishing mostly black trick worms, T-rigged with a small rattle weight every time out. For the last week, it's like the fawcet was shut off. Just 1 or 2 small ones not much bigger than the worm. I tried different colors, different retrieves and even fished a fluke too. I tried a white spinner and a crank bait as well. I walk the bank and fish the different sections that I have access. My questions. Am I being impatient? Is this normal and part of fishing? I see there's another thread about the bite being on which makes me even more curious tp what's going on.
  9. This is what I love about forums like this, I learn something every time I visit.
  10. I did a quick search and didn't find this technique, so I would like to help out my fellow fisherman, newbies and old veterans alike. If it's been cover in depth, I apologies, but when I searched it wasn't one of the top hits. Discussing a bad backlash I had where I had to cut out a lot of expensive braided line, a friend suggested I go to youtube and search. Here is a video I found. Very well done, I think. I used the technique described on mono, since I lost so much braid, I needed to respool. So, I'm not sure how well it works on braided line. I can attest that I once had a wicked bird nest that I wasn't sure it the trick would work, but with 20 or so attempts, low and behold, it worked. Below is a link to a video I found very helpful.
  11. I'm confused. It's early and yet to have some coffee. "Donaldson says she’s disappointed this happened. She says, “I hate that it hit our sport. I even hate that it was here at home on our home waters.” The two men never entered any of the Bass Trail Tournaments. Donaldson says, “If you cheat you will get caught.” If you don't enter, how can you cheat?
  12. I watched a guy back his new boat up to the ramp for it's maiden voyage. With the boat some 20 or more feet from the edge of the water, he got out of the car, unhooked the winch cable and the strap on the back of the boat. He then got back in his truck and started backing down the ramp and for some reason hit the brake. Sure enough, the boat rolled right off the new trailer and landed high and dry on the ramp. Another time, guy was backing down the ramp and had the drivers door open while he leaned out to back the boat down the ramp. The ramp was going down, the dock was level and just before the door of the car caught the dock I yelled for him to stop. He did make it in time.
  13. This morning I had a half hour to fish before work. 13 casts, landed 6 bass, lost two and two hits that I missed. I was freaking out! Can't wait to head back out this evening. I'm hoping for something close to a repeat.
  14. Someone gave me this reel. It's basically new in the box and looking at the paper work inside, it looks like it's from the early 80's. I put some line on it and fished it. It retrieves smoothly and casts just fine. Here's the problem. After casting, it can take anywhere from one revolution of the handle to a dozen or more before the pushbutton engage. My questions are; Is it worth getting this reel fixed and if so, what rod should I buy to match? More info. New to bass fishing and fish primarily from the bank and one day hope to buy a kayak to fish the small lake by the house.
