I did a quick search and didn't find this technique, so I would like to help out my fellow fisherman, newbies and old veterans alike. If it's been cover in depth, I apologies, but when I searched it wasn't one of the top hits.
Discussing a bad backlash I had where I had to cut out a lot of expensive braided line, a friend suggested I go to youtube and search. Here is a video I found. Very well done, I think. I used the technique described on mono, since I lost so much braid, I needed to respool. So, I'm not sure how well it works on braided line. I can attest that I once had a wicked bird nest that I wasn't sure it the trick would work, but with 20 or so attempts, low and behold, it worked.
Below is a link to a video I found very helpful.
