  1. It kind of looks like when a line gets rubbed against an edge and becomes straightened out instead of going into an loop.
  2. Hello fellow forum users, I have a weird problem with Fluorocarbon that I can't figure out. I recently spooled my Metanium 13 HG with Toray Super Hard Strong 10lb. The first cast I made, I noticed that the line had some deformity 20m or so into the spool and it wasn't going on the spool properly. I then returned the line and purchased Sunline FC Shooter 10lb to spool onto my reel. Couple of trips in, I noticed that the line had some unevenness around 10m in (makes some grinding sound when I'm reeling it in), and a lot of line deformities around 30m in which causes to spool unevenly. My rod that I have been throwing the lines on is F4-68X7( I checked the guides for any kind of sign of roughness, but found none). Am I doing something wrong with the line? or Am I getting really unlucky? I appreciate any help you guys can offer me. Thanks in advance
  3. Also, you can get the Kattobi Air Bearing 1030 kit from hedgehog studio as well for roughly 37 dollars total. It handles things below 1/4 oz very well on my Metanium 13, and I believe its the same bearing for Chronarch Ci4+. If you really want to spend the extra bucks, you can always get the shallow spool from Avail(on hedgehog studio website) which is additional 100 ish dollars.
  4. Pretty much this ^^
  5. It will do fine job if you are talking about 1/4th oz things, especially if you spool it lightly with 8 lb line. If you want to go below 1/4th oz, you could always get bearing upgrade from ZPI or Hedgehog Studio to help with the lighter finesse stuff. You also want a medium light or light rod with fast action to help throw the lighter things.
  6. We are talking about Dobyn vs Duckett, and I am making a point that Dobyn Champion Series have better build quality than any of the Duckett rods. How are those Pros not doing the same thing? They are paid by the Duckett people to promote their products, since most of professional sports is basically advertisements. That's like saying that you work for a company and you are willing to give a negative opinion to the mass public about that company. Doesn't this sound silly to you? I am not trying to argue whether Duckett is a better value(because value means different things for each one of us), all I am saying is that these comments will be biased and uninformative, because of how open the question OP gave.
  7. Aren't the Duckett pros you listed below doing absolutely the same thing? Are you really going to tell me that a $150-200 Duckett rod will outperform the $350 Champion series? The build quality aren't even in the same ball park. The OP should ask more specific question such as comparing the brands at specific price range or specific series of rod, since comparing two brands only leads to biased and uninformative answers.
  8. While I agree some of the folks can get off-topic when posting on topics, it doesn't change the fact that there are plenty of nice and helpful people here. Next time if you get a birdnest, why don't you try this method: It can take a while and patience is certainly required but it does work! Best of luck!
  9. So Fluorocarbon and Mono-filament can offer distinct advantages to Crankbait fishing. Fluorocarbon can help you get to a lot deeper area because it is more dense than other lines and it will help the lure sink. Mono-filament being a much lighter line so it will float and inhibit the lure from reaching the maximum depth. The advantage to this is the higher angle from bottom that you are pulling the lure from, which can help you avoid snag a bit better than the fluorocarbon. My recommendation is to get fluorocarbon if you are mostly fishing from boat, and mono-filament if you are fishing from shore. Also, more expensive lines does have a lot longer shelf life on your reel than the cheaper ones which means less need for replacements! Whatever your choice is, best of luck!
  10. The bail arm only costs 3.48 on the shimano usa parts website. The entire bail replacement is only 21 dollars. Unless they charge 25 bucks for shipping, why don't you check it out there? https://fishshop.shimano.com/vip/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441848684
  11. I understood why when I went down fishing at Miami FL last week. The sun down there is no slouch, and Sunscreen just doesn't cut it.
  12. To be fair, not all warts did this nor did the people at storm understand what was causing it. If Megabass can make ones that search consistently, I will take a bunch! (Been waiting for them to come to the states for a while now...)
  13. Sweet reel ^^ what rod are you putting that baby on?
  14. I should have posted...the lakes and canals near Miami International Airport was a lot harder to navigate than expected. Thanks for the offer friend
  15. As most of the Florida natives above me have stated, it is better to post about what region you are visiting when asking for what to bring. I just came back from Florida(Miami area) last week, and I personally went to hunt for the Peacock Bass in that area. I have always heard about how Peacocks were so good at hitting the top water so I threw my Sammy,X-pod,Popmax all day, but I got no hits. What I finally started to catch them on was with the little 1/4 oz X-rap jerkbaits. I recommend carrying jerkbaits in both 1/2 oz and 1/4 oz size with natural and killer clown color. The water in that area was so clear that, you can definitely get some follows throwing jerkbaits around.
  16. Not encroaching in someone else's territory when fishing, especially when on a boat is something that I will always abide by.
  17. I don't get how I am trying to get away with BS here lol? Can't I say that I am annoyed at how everyone is posting something irrelevant to the OP's initial question just because of one silly unrealistic answer another guy has given? I am done getting so off-topic so this will be the last for me.
  18. Everyone just taking a turn at the guy who said "casting a 1/8th shakyhead for 40 some yards" just seem dry and pointless to me. I don't want to say what I mean't since I am not quite sure about the languages we are suppose to use
  19. I think you should edit this into your original post since it clarifies your question a lot. I would choose crankbait out of group 1 because its very effective in multiple conditions, and jig from group 2 since it catches bigger fish consistently.
  20. Before you ask us what kind of line to put on it, what kind of fishing method are you going to be using it for? If it's just going to be general purpose, I would stick with 15 pound mono/fluoro or 20 pound braid.
  21. I'd take group 1 if I can only fish one, since I don't find joy in fishing group 2.
  22. If you can get the Tatula for 100 dollars, I would go with that. It has less plastic parts than the Lews and overall better value at that price. Off topic, but the circle bashing is as annoying as the unrealistic claims.
  23. I just have the Chili Craw color. I will give that chartreuse color a shot.
  24. I use them same way that I have used for my other crankbait like the XCS/FX Knuckle 60s/Askas, which is same as what you have suggested. I have caught plenty of fish with those but none with the KVD. It's gone to a point that I'm pretty sure I have the wrong colors for the KVDs.
