  1. People don't buy more expensive gears to "win tournaments" or catch more fish; people buy them because it really changes your fishing experience. Even if it there is only 10% to 20% difference in actual performance between 100 dollar and 400 dollar gear, you will notice it after you swing it around for god knows how many times through a regular fishing trip.
  2. I have Megabass F6-72X4, and you can use it for jerkbait, crankbait, topwater, jigs, flipping and pitching, big worms, and swimbaits between the range of 3/8th to 3 and 1/4th of oz. If you are considering getting two 200 dollar rods, I would just get the X4.
  3. You should also try oiling the breaking system. Just apply the oil on the area where the break is rubbing against.
  4. Yeah, but those people are the ones who are willing to pay the premium price anyways. (like me)
  5. Still, not everyone is willing to fork over 19 dollars for a lure.

    Pompadour

How well does the Pompadour cast? I know there is a tungsten weight on the bottom, does that help quite a bit?
  7. I'm so jealous about the perfect condition left hand Ito.
  8. PM sent.
  9. The Metanium has X-Ship and Micromodule Gearing, which the Core doesn't. If you really wanted to dig for it, I think you can find the Core and SS SV(basically cheaper version of Steez) for 500 bucks total if you want to try Shimano and Daiwa. I know plat has the SS SV on garage sale for 250 dollars.
  10. I am always cautious about using my high end set ups (IMX with SS SV, F7-72X4 with Chronarch E, F4-68X7 with Metanium 13), but I trust in the product and expect myself to be able to keep it safe.
  11. The most important question is what is your budget? Okuma guide select is pretty solid rod around the 100 dollar range (it's 130 ish) if you are looking to stay around that much.
  12. I heard a lot of good things about the Tatula, so I highly doubt you will be disappointed with the additional 50 dollars you put in. Best of luck!
  13. Thanks for the help Tom, I understand much more the reason behind the JDM swimbait reels and their ridiculously high gear ratios.
  14. Rod being thin has nothing to do with sensitivity of the rod. Its all about the material transmitting the vibration to your hands, so higher quality is always better imo.
  15. Thanks for all of your inputs guys. I will be equipping my Chronarch 201E6 on my MB F6-72X4, so I am not planning to throw anything too heavy.
  16. Hi fellow forum members, I just want to get some thoughts on using 200 sized reels for swimbait fishing. Would 80 yards ish of 20 pound nylon be enough to make roughly 30 yards casts? I just don't like how 300 sized reels feel in my hand. Thanks in advance for your help.
  17. Don't have a price range? Get MB Destroyer Black Jungle Super Red Demon, handles anything from 1/2-8 oz which is really sweet
  18. Pretty much what everyone above said. If you want G.Loomis, save up for the new IMX or find the last gen one for 200 ish.

  20. I feel like fluorocarbon is more sensitive and sinks better than the other lines. So up to you on how much you value that.
  21. Uh...Have you seen the Curado I lately? I don't own one my self, but extremely positive feedback from many websites and communities. Chronach Ci4+ is also regarded as top quality for under 300 dollar range. If you want something under 300 dollars from Shimano, I would check those out.
  22. "Retrieve: The 2013 Metanium reels by Shimano feature a new "micro module" gearing system. Both the primary and pinion gears have approximately twice the number of teeth of a comparable Shimano reel without the advancement. These smaller teeth increase the contact points between gears which should translate into less gearing noise and ultimately, smoother more powerful performance as you turn the handle of the reel. " Taken from http://tackletour.com/reviewshimanometanium2013.html Antares, Metanium, and Chronarch Ci4 all have this system if you want to read more about it.
  23. If you are getting the reel from Japan, you are devoid of most warranties except for manufacturer's defect within a year. Just so you know in case you guys care about stuff. ( I certainly don't. Trust the product, and your abilities to protect it!)
  24. Fx knuckle sexy french pearl has done really well for me.
