  1. Great bait. Fillet out and you'll catch the heck out of channel cat
  2. These are just a few of the many we caught. Pictures don't really do a few of these justice. There's 4 really big bass there.
  3. I agree. I'm sure it had just ate prior to you catching him. Ive caught a few with the tail fin still sticking out of their throat that looked like this.
  4. Talked my uncle out of the house and on too the boat. We threw everything at them before I decided to go to my go to bait. Got out the 10 inch paddle tail worm a yum grape with red flake. And dang did our work. Right at dark my fishing partner threw on the same bait in a 12inch and got in on the fun!
  5. I don't drink on the boat and I don't litter. I fish for enjoyment I don't understand the need to drink alcohol while doing so. I'm not completely anti drinking I'll have the occasional beer here and there. I may even have several a couple times a year but never while operating a vehicle or boat. Littering just disgusts me
  6. I fish a buzz bait hard. I've tried them all and to me the booyah is the only one I'll fish anymore.
  7. O I know what the debate is about. I just don't understand it. Many believe if it doesn't have a name on it It's no good. I'm off the belief of something works great doesn't matter if out cost a penny or $100. I watched a guy fish from the shore with a Clorox jug as a reel. Guy wore gloves to retrieve his line he wrapped it around the jug on retrieve. The guy packed up and left the channel while we were there he pulled a stringer full of fish out of the water with around 12 bass on it. Talked to a couple guys who had around 8 baitcaster strapped on their boat who'd caught 1 fish all day. Poor workmen grumble at their tools. Make the most of what you've got and have fun. That's what it's all about
  8. 1 hour after sun up put it up get it back out an hr b4 dark. Fish it during that period until you've really mastered it. Those are the 2 best hours of the day to fish a buzz bait. The next tip to me is the most important one. Of you watch videos and read about buzz fishing many will tell you to run it slow and steady and while there are plenty of days while that may work it's no different than any other bait in the sense that different days different retrieval speeds. If I'm casting from a boat to a weedline or a moss line I'll burn it from the beginning the extra action and noise seems to draw them out better. The calmer the water the faster I'll retrieve it with a little ripple just barely break the surface and let it plop along. The real trick is too find the presentation they're wanting that day. Everyone that knows me will tell you I'm a buzz bait addict. I've fished beside a lot of people buzzing that just can't get the hang of it. It's not for everyone. My tournament partner will catch 3fish to my 1 with a jig I'll catch 20 to his 1 with a buzz. It takes time and practice but I assure you that you will love it and catch big bass once you catch on.
  9. I catch more than half of my big bass every year on buzz baits and I wouldn't give you a nickel for a buzz bait without a clacker. I've caught 10+ 5lb bass on a booyah buzz this year alone. I've tried every buzz on the market. Here's the best buzz made!
  10. I've decided to really get in to swimbait fishing and the storm live kicking shad caught my eye. Any experience with them? Lure mods I may want to consider?
  11. Booyah and terminator are my spinners of choice. I have 2 of every color of the Wal-Mart spinners as well. For fishing a medium speed retrieve shallow the Wal-Mart spinners are as good as any I use them a lot but they are limited in how you CaN use them and their skirts are terrible about coming off. I have had zero problems with the hooks. They're plenty sharp and durable. Not sure what the major debate is about. These lures used properly in their place will catch fish.
  12. Where are you from? Just curious as to what conditions you're fishing in.
  13. So I've had a handful of swimbaits for awhile and just never used them. My son wanted to use them last night and caught a couple fish on them so tonight I was on the water alone and decided I was going to give them a shot and try to figure out what all the fuss was about. 10 minutes in I had landed a 4 lb bass. I didn't get on the water till 7 so I didn't have a lot of time but I did catch 10 bass and 5 crappie on it and really enjoyed it. Caught all of them on our local reservoir. The biggest one I caught was super long I've caught 6lbers that weren't any longer he just wasnt very fat. Here's a few of the fish I caught and a sho on the way in.
  14. Congrats on a great catch and a new pb.
  15. Flats shallow water buzz bait you will catch fish at night.
  16. The good is my 10yr old and I had a great time out on the boat this evening and he caught 5 bass and 2 crappie on a shad swimbait. The bad was Im an idiot and lost 2 great fish tonight. The first one I just flat missed with a buzz bait. Then a couple minutes later about 80ydds north of us I see a pig explode on the edge of a weedline in the shallow flats. He came completely out of the water I knew it was a big fish so I headed straight for him. First cast I catch a 3 lber but this isn't the fish I saw very next cast BOOM short struck complete miss I throw right back at him and oh I'm fishing a buzz still and a huge eruption I've got him this time pulls a little drag my little 2 man is spinning circles water swirling over got this pig hooked good get him right to the boat reach in and what? Yes I did something I know better than to do I grab my buzz and began to lift him out of the water by my lure. That's a big no no. Two head shakes right as I'm getting ready to drop him in boat and he's gone!
  17. Guess I'm the odd duck but most of my succes comes with a white belly
  18. Booyah buzzbait no doubt
  19. My buddy Joe and I have fished really hard this year and had succes every trip out. I've been fishing regularly for 25yrs but the last two I've really decided to become a fisherman and not just fish a lot. To me there's a difference a guy who fishes a lot has his spinnerbait and a couple exciting top water lures and a fisherman wants to learn how and why to fish every lure and syle there is. Since I decided to take the challenge of being a fisherman my overall experience has been awesome. I've caught fish in places I never would have before and I've caught them in conditions I never would have before. Heck I even took second in the first fishing tournament I ever entered. Well I said all that to say this. Sunday Joe and I took the boat to one of my favorite lakes. After a daylight to dark outing and the worst overall sucess I've had in years and I began questioning everything I've learned the last couple years as a serious "FISHERMAN". We caught a total of 12 bass the entire day and not one over 13 inches. I threw every lure and technique I know at them. I threw at the bank in the deep on structure in pads in grass and just couldn't produce a good fish. Ill also throw out there this lake is loaded with good fish. Our last outing there produce 10 bass over 3lbs with the largest a 7lb 10ozer and it was a 4hr event not an all dayer. This lake is awesome water. We've been hammered with rain this lake is up as high as I've ever seen it. Just curious on what everyone's thoughts are on high waters after a lot of rain. Do you believe the high water was a factor? Since becoming a better fisherman I'm of the belief you can find a way to catch them. Is there days where they just won't bite?
  20. If I'm starting at daylight ill have a booyah buzzbait tied on no doubt about that. Nothing like buzz baits at daylight
  21. So I've never made it over to braid. Was wondering how you guys felt about power pro and what would be the ideal lb test to start with. I was going to start with the 20lb test but not sure if I need to heavier I know the 20lb is 6lb diameter and I'm concerned o may birdsnest it a few times as I adjust and to me the smaller diameter is harder to pull a mess out. Thoughts and opinions on power pro?
  22. Whatever puts a smile on your face
  23. Happened to me yesterday I yanked to set the hook slapped my uncle right across the face with my worm. Yes I missed him
  24. Id start throwing a 12 inch ribbon tailed worm. Small fish are quicker you may be running into an issue where the lake may be getting a little overpopulated and the little fish are quicker to bait and your just not catching the better fish. Is throw a larger lure as the smaller fish are a little less likely to be as aggressive with it. You'll still catch some smaller fish heck I fish a 12 in worm a lot and will catch a few 12 in fish on it but more times than not it's a better fish over the long haul vs an 8in worm
  25. Im with you there. I have as much luck with a buzz as anything. The trick is being accurate with your cast and navigating it through openings. I'd a pad gets in your path speed it up and pop it up to and go right over. Love me sooner buzz bait fishing. To me it's the most under utilized lures available. Buzz baits produce big bass.
