  1. I use H2O Express 20# and spider wire 10#. Never thought about backing the brake off. Might try that and then maybe I'll go with the heavier braid. Thanks for the info guys I really appreciate it.
  2. 8# mono. 10# braid on one 20# on the other.
  3. There are plenty of bass in Thunderbird, just have to find them. A buddy and I went out there in mid march. Probably caught 12 between the 2 of us with an occasional saugeye in the mix. Bass fishing on tbird is complicated. Most of the brush and timber is occupied by crappie or sand bass. If you have a decent depth finder with sonar and a troller motor you can find honey holes in places that most fishermen fly right over on their way to points or brush piles. There is not much rock on most of the lake bottom, but when you find the rock, its almost a guarantee you'll find the bass. I hope this helps a little bit on your next trip. Good luck to you.
  4. If you're going to be in the Arbuckle area you'll be in the southern central part of the state. Arbuckle has produced some nice fish so far this year. My personal best there is 6lb15oz. But there have been many over 10lb come out of Arbuckle this year. Stick tight to the rocks, ledges, and shelves and you should have some success. Hope you land a big one. Good luck to you.
  5. I recently switched from monofilament to braided line on my baitcasters. (Abu Garcia blackmax) It seems to me that the braid is easier to cast and feather without getting an overrun, but I can't cast it as far as I can with plastic lines. Seeing as to how I fish from the bank, I can't reach out to the schooling fish that are 10' - 15' further than I can cast with the braid like I can with a plastic line, but I also can't rip through grass or reeds as well as I can with braid as opposed to plastic. Is there a way that I can get the best of both worlds or a happy medium with my baitcasters and be able to do it all?
  6. Sometimes trying to remove it is worse than leaving it there. I try to clip as much of the hook off as I can reach and leave the rest to rust away or work itself free. As long as the fish can still eat it will be just fine.
  7. 10'9". Nice catch.
