  1. I've thrown spinner baits a lot over the years! I use either a weightless swimbait or Senko as a follow up when I got a fish that boils on the spinner bait and doesn't take. I think that the follow-up bait slowly sinking in the spot where the boil was imitates a stunned or crippled bait and triggers that lit up bass to eat.
  2. Not sure what to tell you, Ineed, It's a spinning reel and 3/16ths oz or above should cast very easily, especially with a 7'6" ML rod. I am wondering if your braid could be wrapped loosely on the spool and it would cause problems with your casting. It would be jerky or just not throw very far at all. To fix that. Go tie your line to a fence post or tree something immovable. Then open your bail and walk half the spool or more off the reel far away. Then when you think your way past that casting distance. Close the reel bail and start reeling your line back onto the reel tightly. Try casting with it after that. let's us know how it goes, please. You might try putting the line on another reel or spool or something. Re-spool your reel with 4lb or 6 lb test mono. Berkley Big game or Stren. That should really make a difference. Best, FM
  3. Order placed, I'm interested in a 1/2 oz and 3/4 oz also. Thank's Mike, I'm interested in getting them wet! FM
  4. If you haven't sold by Monday? I'll check back in then. Best, FM
  5. 20lb, just because my old eyes have a hard time dealing with frog's hair especially if it is windy. FM
  6. Not sure if I'd call it a super power, but... I am semi-ambidextrous. I do most things left handed. I use right handed reels and cast with my left and reel with the right. So I never have to switch hands on a cast. It allows me to control the entry of a bait so much better. I can cast a 1/2 oz spinner bait into eight inches of water with four inches of filamentous algae growing up from the bottom start the bait moving and blades turning without fouling the bait. FWIW, We've had the lefty/righty discussion here before. FM
  7. I wish I could Hunker like that again and be comfortable doing it. FM
  8. Oh definitely, You know you need one of those Bantam's like Ajay got. FM
  9. The difference is in the handle length "as far as I know". Knobs may be different too. Try the search function I think this has been discussed before with more knowledgeable replies then mine. FM
  10. FFS can bite both ways. It doesn't tell you if it is a bass or not. You can catch white bass, Crappie, Catfish and Drum using FFS. Don't ask me how I know. You can also get screen fixated and lose a ton of precious tournament time just looking for or casting to fish that aren't Bass. Again don't ask me how I know. It can also get really interesting when you cast to a fish and it swims away, sometimes rapidly. It's a tool, it helps you see what is going on under the water and the interpretation of what you see is what determines how useful it can be for you. I have been using FFS for about three years now. I don't get to fish nearly as often as I'd like to. I don't use FFS all of the time, maybe half to a quarter of the time at best. But I do use it when I want to know more about whats under and around me. Yes, it is a rush when all of the stars align and you get it all right. The cast, the retrieve and to see the reaction and the "eat" of a good fish! My two cents, FM
  11. Sounds like a good move! We will fish together one of these kayak tourneys! FM
  12. Once you get it in hand and use it. I wonder how your going to explain the purchase of the second one... FM
  13. Those are some very serious Bass, Dwight! FM
  14. Great write up Tox! Thanks for taking me along. 250-280 bass in a week sounds like a blast! FM
  15. Couple of mine from 1/4.
  16. Tackle warehouse has this Falcon travel rod it is a bit above your price range at $149. But I feel it is a better rod then the Diawa Ardito. The link is a spinning rod, medium, moderate action. The bait casting travel rod is MH/F same price. They come with travel cases also. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Falcon_Lowrider_Traveler_Spinning_Rods/descpage-WTR.ht Here is a couple more links: https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Lews_Speed_Stick_Traveler_3pc_Spinning_Rods_w__Tube/descpage-SST3.html https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/6th_Sense_Lux_4-Piece_Travel_Spinning_Rod/descpage-LUTS.html https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/6th_Sense_Milliken_Series_Travel_Spinning_Rod/descpage-MITSS.html The above are all within your price range. 17. I've been using Fluorocarbon as a main line on most of my reels. I think you've got it with your diagnosis. I have had experiences where the line broke from kinking several times. The kinks were a result from picking out backlashes. I have found since then that "gently" picking out backlash without hard tugging on the line has eliminated my line breakage from kinking. I have tried many of the brands of Fluorocarbon from almost all of the major brands. I've settled on three. My most preferred now is Diawa Samurai, Both Seaguar Tatsu and Invisx are the other two. With Tatsu being the best of Seaguar's offerings. The Samurai and the Tatsu can be had sort of reasonable priced by watching for sales. I do the same thing as one of the other posters said. I spool about a third or half way with mono and top shot 60-70 yards of Fluoro. MickD is "spot on" Fluoro is very finicky. It doesn't like to be kinked or stretched hard. MNfisher, I'm going to have to try that MK knot. I've been using the improved clinch knot forever and it does the job very well. The SDJ knot is another that is high up on my radar for fluorocarbon knots. Best, Fishingmickey
  18. Don't forget Catt! I, myself also prefer a 3/0 straight shank Gamakatsu round bend for 5-7" worms. 9" and above worms get 5/0or 6/0 hook. 7'2" MH/F, Metanium 7:1 w/18# Diawa Samurai. I am very interested in fishing the Nano coated too.
  19. Using a trolling motor of say 55# thrust or so. that trolling motor at full speed your motor is pulling about 50 amps. On a 100ah battery that means roughly at most two hours of run time. So basically what that means is if your looking to travel long distances at high speed you need serious battery. If your just going to run your pond hopper at say 2 or 3 setting in short bursts on a 5 speed motor. Your battery charge is going to last a much longer time. Look at the spec's for your trolling motor and your fishing needs to determine what size battery you are going to need. A 30ah or 50ah battery might suit perfectly and weigh a lot less. FM
  20. I've been fishing all my life and I've been fishing Kayak bass tournaments for the last 10+ years. I have fished several Hobie and BASS national events in that time too. I fished a Saltwater tournament for about 30 years. it was a really good excuse to go offshore fishing for three days. It was the Port Aransas outboard fishing tournament "for outboard motors only". That outboard only was supposed to level the playing field somewhat. Covid, Hurricane Harvey and all of the organizers retiring or dying was the demise of that tournament. It was a benefit tournament for the Port Aransas volunteer fire department. $75 dollar entry and free food and beer for the weekend. Trophies for first and second place in numerous species and a serious raffle with great prizes the final night. Always looked forward to seeing the other teams each year. We were the Good and Lucky fishing time. I was Good, my partner was Lucky. We had shirts with a hand on it pointing to the other person. Mine said I'm Good above the hand and below the hand was said he's Lucky. FM I've been fishing all my life and I've been fishing Kayak bass tournaments for the last 10+ years. 21. Hobie makes a inflatable pedal drive. Hobie Itrek 11 is pedal driven and has a good seat. I'm sure if your determined you can add some electronics to it too. FM
  22. Good luck, Koz. May the force be with you! Fishingmickey
