  1. Dude if I was not all jacked up right now I would be out there. This sucks
  2. Same approach for tournament and fun. Get them in the boat. Most times the pace of the fight is based on what bait they hit. Longer casting baits are much different then flipping style hookups. Once they are on I try and match that fishes pace and anger. I ski them in over thick vegetation.
  3. Any of the Delaware ponds have them some bigger than others. Millsboro pond and Trapp pond have some big ones. Not much doing on the western side of the bridge that fits your requirements. The magothy is where I have stomped them for many years now. Numbers and size. This time of year is best. Excellent yellow perch fishing as well.
  4. Early this year I made up 50 fantastic looking jigs with 3 different head styles from 1/4 to 1/2oz. Fished them all with various trailers in various cover and depth and caught a few fish but overall felt like i was around more fish than i was catching. I moved to a more compact presentation with a keitech and menace combo and it flipped the switch. The difference in bulk of the jig was costing me bites. The rivers I fish showed me that the go to colors in the right profile perform. The go to colors on the bulky jig was on the outside of what they eat size wise. Play around until your fish show you the way. Profile trumped all other factors in my case
  5. I love my irod Crusher 734 and my custom speed stick mag grass for jigs. 1/2oz keitech casting jig with a menace trailer. Both rods feel excellent through grass and wood. Compact and deadly jig. Crusher up close and mag grass for distance
  6. Well played A few Marshy Hope bass. Caught 15 or so pitching small jigs.
  7. I fish mostly DE ponds and rivers and have yet to find the need to adhere to deep clear water drop shot rules. No special gear or light line is really needed especially when bubba shotting. For muck bottoms use a stick style weight up to 1/2oz, 2 or 3/0 ewg with a rage bug on it and go to work. Break out the sissy sticks when the water is clear and temps are low
  8. Bulking everything up bubba shot style works well with less than desirable bottoms as well...it may help get bigger bites too.
  9. I used KVD frogs and sampo swivels to get my best results. Tried the split ring way from the tube and didn't like it. Switched to running wire through the frog and out the drain hole and it was much better. Put a loop in the wire out the back of the frog so I can slide the rigged tails on and off. Better swivels and smaller tails run fast like a tiny torpedo, and lesser swivels and fat tails put off a slower big gurgle. Trying to find a "squeaky" swivel now.
  10. I made my own in 15 minutes. It does not fill up with water, runs perfect, and was done for about 13bucks. It's a cool bait and the way I made mine allows me to change tail size and color as well as swivel quality quickley.... Tail size and swivel quality put of slightly different sounds.
  11. The 1st fish I ever caught on one was 12" hit it like a truck and went all full acrobatic. Awesome experience at 10 years old.
  12. Crazy how hard they hit hellgramites isn't It? Catching them is fun too.
  13. There goes the neighborhood @MountainMan83
  14. Yikes....thats no good
  15. The sun flat takes it out of you as well. Enjoy the nice morning with some light protection and then cover up. Neck buff, pfg shirt, glacier gloves, huk pants. BC I have not fully learned my lesson. I notice that I am fresher and more alert when I wear my gear. My stuff isnt super expensive and keeps me right.
  16. Nope, I am getting one and it stinks lol.
  17. I fished the Chicamuxen yesterday in the DE federation tournament and weighed 5 for 14.8. Got em on a pit boss in the thick stuff. Not sure where we finished yet. There were 40 some boats.
  18. A few nices ones today on the Potomac
  19. No doubt....made me really trust 12lb sensithin....he ran me under the dock and I pulled him back out with minimal damage to the line....I was shocked. If it were a bass it would have chafed off lol
  20. I was rolling a spinnerbait around docks last May by Hallowing pt and got blasted by a 20lb cat. Followed that up with a 10lber on a swing head and rage bug.....very disappointing
  21. For sure.....woke up this morning w an ear to ear smile (might be permanent). Now I gotta put reels and line on em. I have an MB 7 ratio for the mag heavy cover, so I need a 6 ratio for the hammer, and the door is open on the finess jig rod. 50 braid on the MHC, 14lb FC on the hammer, and gotta figure out that finess jig rod. Might set that up skipping rod. I can fish em all next Sat on the Potomac. Going to prefish for a tourney and I bet the MHC and hammer will get used alot in and around grass.
  22. Good deal today so I gotta tell someone. 3 new lews custom speed sticks for 125!!!!! A 7-6 heavy cover, a 7-3 mag hammer, and the finess jig rod. I am out of town for my mothers 60th B day weekend and the local shop had them marked down to 60 each. After some negotiations I split with 3 for 125. My face hurts from smiling all day.
  23. As I found when DVT stripped down and re wrapped a busted build I had done on an LTB blank. This rod will never leave my possession. It is so very perfect and is my #1. No blue paint, a lighter guide train and a smidge longer handle made a good feeling rod absolutely perfect for me. Keep in mind I sent mine to the pro. I turned 2 full cork grips into split grips by myself and got decent results, but its not work like the real builders do. I like the rods alot better now though and use them 10x more bc of it.
