  1. TW should have one
  2. Ty for the answer
  3. You want year round outdoor wilderness Minnesota has it. In the winter there is ice fishing plus any other outdoor sport you want. Spring and summer go up north to the BWCA and get you share of wilderness. While we lack 10lb bass we make up in monster 52in Muskie 40in northerns, and some of the best bass lakes around. There is no shortage of lake either. With well over 100,000 (I think the number is actually closer to 130,000) you could try a new lake ever day. And for the hunters we have good game life, deer, bear, Turkey and they are all good size. Yeah our state bird is a mosquito, and they seem to wear parkas in the winter. Minnesota has a lot.
  4. Okay, so one thing I am still working on is hook sizes. I am getting better on 5/0 vs 4/0 but when it comes to treble hooks I'm still learning. So the question I am looking at is what size is on SK red eyes, DT's. And if I'm looking for covers what size do I want to look for?
  5. Worse case Abu will let you send it in, but a good local bait shop might give it a once over for free if you ask. Gl
  6. Do you store your reel with the breaks on and tension tightened? It might be a problem of the disc sticking to each other. Other problems might be bearings are going, or even dirt in the spool. Clean it out. If you do take it apart... and I can not stress this enough TAKE PICTURES. I didn't and ended up taking apart another Abu Garcia just to match the disc. Grease and oil, damp rag.
  7. My new trend is taking my lip less red eyes and removing the back hook. I replace it with a small silver willow. Just nailed my personal best on opener with this mod. It's simple and easy. Plus I think it gives it that extra flash.
  8. Clear Lake (In Forest Lake) Date: Saturday 5/9 Morning to mid afternoon Temp 40 - 60 So it was clear with a slight breeze from the north ish. Topwater baits were hot. Bass looked to have move off the beds in the shallow and where mainily in the 6+ foot range. Walleye on cClear Lake where around 12+ ft range and the bite was hot. Many anglers reporting good cathces on the north side of the lake with nothing but a jig and tube. Northern bit was also good. I personaly used a SK Red Eye Shad in Pearl moded with the back hook removed and a willow added. and pulled in multipul northern.
  9. Okay so I did a search and I couldn't find a post on this, but with the season taking off here in Minnesota I thought I would start this post. So if you hit the lakes please try to give a detailed report of what is going on. I don't blame anyone for not wanting to give away their lucky spot, but lets help the local anglers out.
  10. Right off 23 & 35 I think it it's in Forest lake. It started off slow, and than I remembered I marked a bunch of potential sites to check. The second spot paid off big.
  11. It can come down to something as simple as pressure, and what the fish want/don't want. I have gone many times to my local pond and have thrown my lucky spinner only to be shut out, and the same with chatter. Don't give up on such a great bait. I know you said you have tried many things. But alter the appearance, different combo of colors, blades, trailers, no trailers. All of these items with infinite choices of options sometimes feels like you are stuck in a corner. Keep it up and stay positive.
  12. So Yesterday was the offical MN walleye, and northern opener (Bass right now is C&R only), and it was one of the best openers I have had yet. So I though I would post a couple pics of the better catches. But how was everone on elses opener? Anyone from the area have a good opener? Just an FYI to the locals Clear Lake was going nuts for not only northern, but also bass and walleye!
  13. Many factors can be contributed to fish kill. Here in the northern States we see it a lot during the spring. The O2 levels drop and the fish can not take the change in the drop. Toxins can also contribute to fish kill. Run off, yard waste, fertilizer, and so on can add deadly levels that fish are unable to handle. I wouldn't be too alarmed and would chalk it up to an abnormality. So check though with your local DNR site. They should list of that lake contains higher levels that could be harmful.
  14. I think you mentioned this in a previous post, and I looked into this. Is there a way to zero out the scale after adding a fish grip to it?
  15. I was into C rigging worms last year so much, but this year I'm going lizards. I bought a bunch of V&M's and Berkley and can't wait.
  16. I can say proudly the bait monkey has taken a back seat. I put in a small order for parts for my boat, shoes, and a small chatter bait and fluke order from TW. With opener a week away I should only be placing replacement orders here and there
  17. So my battery had finally given out on me. I'm looking for a new battery that is a do all. It has to start my 9.9. I also use it to run my 30lb trolling motor and fish finder. I think it says my engine need 320 - 450ish CCA. Can anyone suggest a good brand battery that they have used and trust?
  18. Soft plastic swims and hard body swims this is how I define them.
  19. You don't have to buy Megabass, there are plenty of other company's out there that have a cheaper line up of cranks, and some might say that these cheaper cranks are just as (if not more) affective.
  20. That's the best thing. When I was looking into swim baits someone told that. You can drop 30, 40 and much more on a swim, but if you don't use it right. Or it's not your thing, it's a waste.
  21. X2 The old original Z's imo where junk. The shirts slipped, and you could never keep on a trailer. Now the new projects are good quality. And I am liking the D&M's. There another great dual cam weed guard one out there, but the name gets blocked .... So yeah.
  22. Yeah, you have to slip them in between the skirt and head to properly hold them. When I first got it, I didn't really know. I thought it was complete junk. However after about 4 months of storage, all baits are fine and bounce back. That and you can take this one and shake it, and they should stay in place.
  23. ^ Decent plano hanging JUNK! Plano Best option
