  1. Golden Lake It started out real bad. I went to my favorite lake I tried to get my boat started, trolling motor craped out, and my battery never charged.. So we shore fished golden. Started out slow, so I went out to the pier and what a great decision. Was pulling out 1lber no problem. But then I casted and the end caught it and sent it into the Lilly's.. no prob, I have the line a tug and came right out, but I was floored with what happened next. As the lure (Lily and all) goes skipping across the water this lunker just blows up on it. It was a solid 5 lb if not closer to 6 and about 21.. 22 in.
  2. I just have always been told and taught walleye are always deep...
  3. Fathers day Water 72°+/- Temp 80° Clear lake (Forest Lake) The bite was good (for my brother in law..... not me) we found bass shallow in the weed pockets, but not quite under the docks. That was north end of the lake. The northern bite was bad, but I did pull in a small walleye in the shallows. Hot bait of the day way a rat l trap and rattlin rap in chrome.
  4. So I was out on the lake Fathers Day,and I was getting frustrated with the lack of bite. My brother in law and I moved to a shallow flat flanked by a nice weed bed. I thought bingo, perfect spot to start fishing for bass. But the bite I got wasn't from a bass. I pulled in a small 17 inch walleye. I was shocked because I found a walleye hole at about 22 ft on another part of the lake, and didn't know walleye went that shallow.
  5. Wow went back and looked at my current spending. I thought with the season starting "stocking up" would stop. But it is now termed "replacing". I lose a lure, so I buy 2 just in case. Or something breaking, in this case it was a rod so now I MUST replace that with something better. I said around $700, but after a new musky combo I almost added half of that.
  6. I know Thorne Bros. always carries the off stuff and if there not there Capras down the road is another great shop. They will actually order items in if you want. I was looking for some ZMan soft plastic and they didn't have it, so they ordered it. Also great place for firearms. I get deals there a lot when buying.
  7. Last day of my up north vacation. I have been killing it on a chatter. the docks have been a hot spot.
  8. Fifty lakes and lake Washburn. This lake was HOT for small mouths. I fished the docks and shallows. 1 & 2 lbers with water temps on the mid and upper 70's. I think I the back over 20 in the course of a coupe hours.
  9. Remove all hooks! Fish lives matter!
  10. I use to only use spinning reels, but two years I bought my first caster combo. It wasn't easy to make the change. But this year my caster has been my #1 go to setup on the water.
  11. Bait Monkey came on Strong at Cabels. I mean It would be a waste of time to trave 1/2 hr just to look, plus Muskie opener is Saturday. My New Whopper Plopper 190, SK spinner, Lipless, and a jointed bait I got passed down from my uncle when he passed. But I love looking at the size difference between the 90 and the 190. I do have an order of 8 more SK red eyes and a 130 version of the plopper from TW due Thur.
  12. Just to add. Braid will slip on the reel when wet. So without a backing on it the braid will just spin against the spool.
  13. My OP says and is examples of a current sponsor. The other was just throwing it or there. No more than anyone else before me did.
  14. Post sales deals last x - x.than it is taken down. If they email a mod to post it they control it going up. That and it would always be the top post.
  15. There are hundreds of site such as these called coupon sites and they make money by moving people to another site to purchase. They in turn get money for a referral. Same concept as immortalized material on YouTube. But I guess I could jump on that band wagon.
  16. X2 on pool 2. You could launch in Fridley area. It is far enough south of the Dam in Coon Rapids, and gives you a large distance until the MPLS dam. I have looking to launch there this year and test out the waters so to speak of river fishing in my boat.
  17. Look at the dnr website. They have a lossy of local tournaments. Nothing big, just on day tournaments.
  18. Hey nothing says on this thread you have to give away your spot. Just share what's hot on the water. Many of you know it's sometime just as much what you throw as where you through. Two years ago me and my brother in law where pulling in 5+ bass like crazy when people next to us could catch one if their life depended on it. So if you hit a lake let us know if it was a bust or not. I have a couple lakes coming up next weekend. Than in June I am going up north to outing Minnesota and will give a report for up there.
  19. Otter lake (white bear) Tuesday 19th Wind 5 - 10 Temp 40° Almost too cold. Matter of fact I am sick now because of yesterday's trip, but fishing is worth it. Many smaller northerns in the 5 - 8ft range with the monsters still hiding 20 feet down. Spoons, lipless and spinners where hot. Nothing monster to speak of, but did catch a lot. Colors where all over whites, gold and tiger colors caught them. So no patterns.
  20. First crack of a Yamaha 250hp would swamp you. But I was truthful. It's not the boat. I good angler doesn't have to have GPS, power poles, even a fish finder. A rod and tackle will catch you fish. But you want to be competitive. I know a friend here in mn that does smaller tournaments with a 14ft kind with a 40hp. So you don't need 60k, but do upgrade or co.
  21. Should be listed under General section, but imo you are going to get there slower. But a boat didn't catch the fish. It's the person inside. You might want to consider being a co angler in a boat though.
