  1. Might be a reaction jig or a hey let's see if this works. I personal had bright orange chatters made just to try.
  2. If this weather keeps up in Minnesota I might take my boat out on open water to "ice"fish...
  3. I know pike love to hit the small bladed jigs, but I don't date throw them for even pike. And I know Minnetonka grow them big. Family member just caught a 44 in musky on Minnetonka. Any brand specific? Musky lures are still new to me.
  4. I still have some organization. I keep finess, grass, swim all in there separate areas.
  5. I think if I placed each jig in a separate spot I would run out of room real quick.
  6. Last year was my first year really trying for musky. I bought a couple inlines and a few others, but wanted suggestions on your go to baits. In particular anybody use chatters?
  7. Thanks for the info guys. Planning on bringing all of my own gear but definitely going artificial bait. So I will have to stay looking around. I added a couple days to my trip so I need to find something to fill the days.
  8. I love my Abu Garcia casters. My Pro Max pulls in the 6ers all day and the 30+ in Northerns with no problem. (I wouldn't recommend chasing large fish with reels that aren't made for it though). I got a $30 Abu rod from Wal-Mart (vigilante or something) and works great. Look at the articles on here about choosing the right action for the job.
  9. I got my prescriptions from my eye doctor. I got the tinted and polarized. Great for driving.... Not so much for fishing. The glasses are to dark to be helpful to see threw the water. But with most medical you get a yearly exam, and discounted frames.
  10. I use the magnum bag from Cabelas. It is big enough to Carey most of my tackle for those long fishing trips up north or all day excursions. But I have enough (NOT to much) that I also now have a second bag that I carry only when I go shore fishing. I like having all my options on me. Because you never know what that lake may call for and what is hot.
  11. What about boat rentals. I seen toho marina but didn't see that they rent boats.
  12. Hello, I'm coming down next April for a family vacation, but I plan to take 2 days for myself. I found a saltwater charter I plan to use however I'm looking for anyone that may know if a reputable Toho guide. I plan on brining down my rods and tackle for the fresh water trip, just want a knowledgeable person of the area that wants to get out for the day. I'm going to catch a southern hog that I hear about. Anyone know of someone?
  13. I can officially say my bait money is GONE! However.... Those of you may not know the bait money has a family. I now have a relative, and he goes by the name shooter. Shooter money (like his family) makes you compulsively by gun related items. Who would of thought...
  14. So in April I'm doing a family vacation to Florida. But I can't decide what I should charter. I have been thinking about doing a bass charter, but wouldn't mind going to the ocean. Suggestions,
  15. Never have a problem with that up here. I run 30lb braid no leader and have pulled in 32" Northerns with no problem.Only time I lose one is when I birds nest.
  16. X2 on a regular backpack. You can find them at Walmart for around $10 and with little to no modification you can carry 3 poles. The backpack I use for bank fishing I got for $8 during a school sale. It will hold 2 poles, 3 3700's, 1 3600, plus plastics, pair of pliers and a scale. And I could cram more into it if I wanted to.
  17. Last year I didn't think I could have found a more expensive habit than fishing. Then I pondered building an AR. Thoughts of a cheap, fun range gun went from a small and inexpensive to over the top high end. Free floating mil specs where a must. Out with the idea of a two piece with delta ring in consumer spec. Now.. How do I balance a fishing habit with a gun build that isn't suppose to be?? Lol
  18. . Wow..yeah that's it.. I was kind of sick last night and out of it. I don't know how I got p when I can clearly see d in the pic today. Lesson learned not to play with tackle when sick...
  19. So I was going through my rods and came across one I didn't know I had. It it's the rod mentioned above, but some Yahoo searches I am coming up blank. I can find info on a d Force and Triforce.. Anyone know anything past what I may know (action and so on.) Availability, value. I just want to know if it's worth keeping or dumping it locally for a good value or even free to a local kid. DWC-662MS is the model.
  20. I agree. Just adding a box is not going to fix the issue, but maybe it will help curve the problem. But maybe little steps like this will help. On a conversation that I had on another forum a question was brought up. How much of the trash (wrongly discarded plastics) is from Fisher men/women throwing them in the water, and how much is from plastics being pulled off? Maybe this needs to be better looked into, and the problem might not rest in the hands of the Fisher, but the makers. Plastics like Z-Man's elastech (spelling?) might be a new bench mark in plastic making for durability.
  21. So I came across this on TW's Facebook page. I think this is a great effort to help reduce the litter on the lakes, however this can only help if the sportsmen make it work. The idea of them maybe turning a profit on this doesn't bother me because of the the factors involved. The cost of implementation, the profit is all dependable on the amounts of baits received. What are your thoughts. (Link to site) http://rebaits.org/
  22. Yeah they do. I couldn't keep the small mouths off the other weekend.
  23. I guess I can add one that I do different for #1, And I guess it isn't really different. I like to burn it when i know they are top feeding. Sometimes I can get the blade to ripple the top of the water. But mostly I follow the same as others have mentioned. For me I like to use Bruiser paddle tails.
  24. I have consisted doing this for insurance reasons, but found taking close up pictures of each box much easier. I might not be able to name 100% of the baits, I sure could name most. I do this for my rods and reels as well. My guns are the same way. I have pictures, models, and serial numbers all saved on my pc, and in my safe.
  25. Matzuo makes a small popper frog. Cheap, a little stiff but do work. Many times when the big boys don't work I go to these.
