  1. I think it's a prestige thing. It's like buying a car. Sure most of us have one, but now he has one with awesome rims. Needed? No, but sure looks good, and a proud badge of honor to hold. We all have those little badges of honor. The Megabass Vision 110 club badge, the Deps club, a BBZ Rat club.
  2. This a classic problem. I find myself putting a couple things into my cart. To find myself saying "well another $X more and I get free shipping" This then leads to "well I have free shipping, but only $X more and I get a free shirt!"
  3. A list of what was needed. My god man, did you just have rods, and an empty tackle box?
  4. Careful on setting a personal best. The bait monkey loves ribbons of achievement.
  5. no problem.. I didn't get anything myself. I bought at gander and got a new shadow rap deep. I have been saving up. We have the sportsmen show here this weekend, and I plan on buying.
  6. Your only going to lose (if that) on reel of line. If you have an empty spool un spool one reel. Than from there use the line from one reel to spool the one you just un spooled. Just tire a uni knot or what ever you prefer. Don't forget the backing our take this time.
  7. Braid is great and strong, but as the saying goes. "A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link" From my experience braid can start to fray or lose its strength if stands start to break. I have had lures break off, but I wasn't vigilant on the condition of the line. You don't have to re tie as much as floro, or mono, but you don't need to check your knot and line from time to time. Just my observation and opinions.
  8. I would use a combo of clothing glue, and heavy stitching. Those two should extend the life of the bag, but that looks to be at the top zipper? You could also bring it into a tailor. They have the heavier thread, and the ability. Just might not be their normal piece of work.
  9. So I stopped by my fleet farm and was finding some great deals. $5 husky, original floaters. Deals on already Clarence items. But a lot of other generally marked down items. That and Gander has clearance on Power Pro line. I got 30 lb 300yd for $22. I guess that price I should of looked for 80 or 65lb for my musky combo.
  10. I use a program called (i think) VCDM.... if I'm wrong I will correct, but it has functions to add movies, pictures, sound, transitions and other great options for free. Not to hard to pick up on either. I use it a lot and plan to put together movies from my Sony action cam this spring with it. I will pm my YouTube video that I used it on to give you an idea of what it can do.
  11. I like a swim jig when there are nice pockets in the grass. If it is too heavy of cover though I will opt for the bladed jig to go over and call them out.
  12. I just tried that site... 1/2 the price on a 110 from TW, but when I try to check out with the items it tells me my adress is no grater than 1....??? Mehh screw it, TW just got $30 for 1
  13. I have been fighting off the monkey for 3 WEEKS! And I may have caved, and I may have ordered a Megabass Vision 110, and I may have bought a Lucky Craft Flash Pointer, And I am sure a Spro McStick made it into my cart. In total I got I think / new Jerk Baits, I couple Chatters, Buzz Baits, and a jig or 2. Total damage $153.39
  14. So I have been thinking about getting s bow mount on my boat. Curently I have a 14'aluminum boat with a 30lb thrust Minn Kota transom. It works great with no wind, but the instant the wind goes over 5mph it starts to become impossible to control in the boat in the wind. I was thinking upgrading to a bow mount because I would be pulling the boat versus pushing. Would it be better? If so I was thinking a 45lb or less would be idea. What are your thoughts, ideas comments/concerns?
  15. With the post of rare lures it got me wondering. It looks like a lot of collectors are going for Megabass. Do tackle companies make some lures with the intention of having them be limited? Do they limit release of certain colors or styles? I know like the wiggle warts, they where bought out by another company leaving the abundant originals to dwindle down to limited amounts.
  16. I love it! I would wish they made a super sized one for Musky/Northern Fishing. Maybe 1oz ish with a masive Beast Owner Hook and trailer.
  17. The insurance that I have covers my boat, motor, electronics and all of my tackle/rods. I have a base coverage for all. In the winter I remover the insurance because the boat is in storage and my home owners insurance will cover it. (It's stored in my garage) The summer coverage is mainly I sink and loose it all,. Value wise.. I didn't put a specific amount on the tackle. But there is an immortalize value where you can say your tackle had a 4 year life. At the end of four years you can sell it for 20%. So over the 4 years it would depreciate 20% value each year.
  18. Does anyone know of a Minnesota sporting flee market? Just looking for so local haggling.
  19. Those look nice, but in no way am I sticking my hands down a Northern's throat with those short things... lol
  20. I don't think I can agree. Fishing gear is considered a non necessity. It isn't really a toy but a tool. With that said, I think it is important that kids be shown fishing, and gives that child an out. I think the saying goes, "if a child busy, there is no time for them to get in trouble"... or something like that. Showing them young also teaches kids the proper ideas of fishing. The idea of CPR, land conservation, and how to protect that land from invasive species. So.. in your definition of a toy.. doesn't every child deserve a toy, and be shown how to properly care for their things?
  21. That is another one I am looking at. The only thing stopping me from putting in the order is a back story of how I didn't order it... lol I got scolded finally the other week about no more tackle for the season, and well if a $200 TW order shows up in my name . Not good. I would love to go to a Cabelas, but I know they don't have 1/4 off what else I want to get.
  22. If you are keeping them in storage and they are wet, that moisture will stick with them and rust it out. A couple things. Dry them out in the sun after a days use prior to putting them away. If you are drying them and they go into a container get one of those rust strips to hopefully slow the process down. Also if you are storing them where other items are and those are rusty you want to start out fresh in a new area free of rust. Throw away/replace/get read of all rust. I have had a set of the berkly's and they sit on an outside tool holder. I have had them out in rain, I have left them for the day in the bottom of the boat (With some standing spots of water) and I still dont have a spot of rust.
  23. They say never more than 10° off horizontal with just the jaw. If you do you could injure the fish.
  24. I will look into them. I know I don't want to go overboard, and if it goes well I will look at higher end. As it stands now I just want the comfort of using them correctly.
