Be confident, make precision casts, do not cast TOO much, use Senko or Trick worm (green pumkin/green) weightless or with 1/16 oz lead weight fished slow.
Somedays the bigger 2+ pound fish will not bite, even when using the best live bait (large minnow on a cork)
I remember that 1980's Bill Dance episode when crazy Jerry Reed (Famous singer/movie star) pushed Bill out of the boat into water over his head. Bill looked ticked. Does anybody else recall that episode?
I like Bill.
I have had my best luck this year fishing a weightless Green pumkin Trickworm over floating moss and near bank. I must fish the weightless worm slow or it will rise to the surface too easily while retrieving. If your Trick worm/hook combo is too light try a heavier hook.
A weightless T rig senko type bait will cast farther than my Trickworm combo. I tried this briefly with good results.
Thanks Raul!!! Your reply helps alot and sounds very logical.
Also, what is a good way to make sound fishing with a Zoom Trick worm? And what would be good examples of the type baits you mentioned for shallow water 2'-5' ?
Thanks, Sparky
I noticed in early spring while fishing in a State Managed lake the water was clear and I could see fish swimming. Then in late spring they fertilized the lake which caused water clarity to be poor (moss green color). Why do they fertilize lakes and what is the best way to fish a newly fertized lake for Large Mouth Bass.
I have been catching too many bass under 12" .
With my SENSITVE MH Worming rod matched with braided line and Eagle Claw #4 hook, I miss about 50% average. It is much harder to feel strikes with a LESS SENSITVE limber rod and monofilament line.
I found Ultra Lite fishing to be very fun until I hung the big one. Broke my line.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzSNAP! :'(
I learned to use some thin but very strong braided line.
A weightless texas style Zoom trick worm (green pumpkin, junebug color) bounced off the lake bottom, around structure, and shady areas close to shore. Fish the lake alot and you will learn the lake.
Bass minnows and crawdads (live bait) are hard to beat also.
