I never just buy a lure for the heck of it. I always buy lures that I know will produce.
In such cases it depends where I need to pick up the certain lure.
If the place only has 5, I will buy all 5. If they have a bunch, I buy as many as I can afford at the time.
But I usually buy several of the good uns' just so I have lots of extras for when one breaks, or gets snagged.
Sort of in an indirect sort of way I guess I did.
I was fishing a tournament at a lake that is always crowded with summer activities.
It was maybe 40 minutes until weigh in and we were fishing near a no wake bouy marker. Apparently this lake had one boat owner who thinks he owns the lake, and apparently it was his duty to annoy every fisherman on the lake all by himself.
So this guy keeps getting closer and closer to us as he is towing a skier. Finally he cuts between us and the bouy which was only 40 feet away. I had just casted and figured he would turn to the outside of us, but nope, he went right over my line.
All of the sudden my reel is smoking! The boat caught my lure and was pulling out line! All of the sudden the line broke and the skier fell face first into the water.
Now I dont know if the skier caught a foot full of hooks or not.
I reeled in my line and got out my heaviest jig that I had and just waited for that guy to come back. I was going to test my casting skills on a moving target! Well he never came back around and he tied his boat up and went inside his cabin.
My boating partner wanted to go over and sabotage his boat but I didnt think it right.
It seems I have this desease that can only be helped by making fishing related purchases during the hard water months.
I finally decided to get myself some higher end equipment!
Today I went down to a local tackle shop and bought myself a Curado 200E7 and an e21 CLTX761H-F-C carrot stick to put it on.
Too bad I cant fish with it yet.
I still can't believe I spent so much on ONE setup, hopefully everyone on here who spends copious amounts of money on gear and swears it is worth the price, is right.

Bass fisherman, about how long did that take?

And I do have a girlfriend, her name is JIll. ;D
For all you haters out there, Pittsburgh did it yet again!!!!!!!!!
6 time Super Bowl Champs!!!!!!
You people should here it outside my house, there's fire whistles going off, people lighting fireworks, shooting guns, screaming, and yelling!
[move]Way to go Steelers!![/move]
I used to love those worms!! Well they were packaged as Walmart/FLW brand, and they weren't hardnose. But they were the same exact worms, minus the hardnose, still made by Manns.
To me, those worms are one of those lures that you throw when nothing else works. At one of the ponds I fish I will throw them weightless and usually the fish will clobber them right after they hit the water.
The downfall was that they are very soft and rip off your hook after each fish. The hardnose should correct that issue though.
You can use them for any technique dealing with worms really. The only thing I wouldn't do with them is use them as a flipping or pitching bait. Other than that, your golden!
I'd advise you to save your money.
I too thought that the twitchin bar was a good idea until I hit the water with it. With in the first 5 casts I relised what I didn't while wanting one.
When you move a bait, you use your rod, not your reel. When you use the twitchin bar to move a bait, it drops your rod tip and makes for an odd retreive. You dont feel the bottom as well, nor do you feel light hits when you engage the bar.
I bought the Megaforce during that whole fad last year. Very dissapointed!
The only thing I have found the twitchin bar to be good for is picking up slack in your line.
There is a sucker born every minute!
Poor guy, that really sucks!
I too have gotten that email about an inheritance. If it was the same exact email, you would have to be really dumb to fall for it.
The email was so generic it was funny. I could tell right off the bat that it was mass mailed to a bunch of people. I should have saved it, but didn't.
I'll be there!!!!
I have some gift cards from Christmas that I'll use.
I can't wait!
Muddy,
Do we have to wear name tags so you can remember who we are? ;D
