  1. PB LM- Rebel pop-r PB SM- C-rigged dark watermelon tube on Erie.
  2. Hit a few spots today to check the conditions. Northmoreland-lower lake was about 80% frozen. The shallows on the Western side of the lake are thawed. Upper Northmoreland lake was 60% frozen, again the shallows were thawed. Lower Burrell park pond was 60% frozen as well. The ledges on the Northwest side of the lake are accesable as is the brushpile in that area. The Allegheny river is running high, fast, muddy, and icy. Fishing on the river is way to dangerous to even attempt. The ice is moving big time. I fished Burrell pond for a bit with nada. Another fisherman had caught a small crappie on a tiny black grub. Is it spring yet?
  3. I like Norman DD 22's and DD 14's http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_419____SearchResults I also like Strike King Series 5 and 6 cranks. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_46129____SearchResults As far as colors, use whatever you have confidence in. OR.... Find out what forage fish the bass feed on and find a few cranks that resemble that color pattern.
  4. That is the best answer so far IMO. Basic, obvious, and to the point. I read a ton of great answers. The picture has 2 bars, that jut off of the points. The bars show you the current flow, and if there are fish there in April, how they may be positioned on that staging area. Being that some of the bass will be in spawn, those bays are a great place to look. Less obvious is that those bays are just a short run from Kenlake Lodge.
  5. Lots of great replies so far. I havent heard what I am looking for though. Think OBVIOUS.
  6. How else are you going to control traffic? It's tricky though. No longer is it "red on right return", it's more of an English version of traffic control, "White on right return" Be careful out there guys. Does anyone have the link to the thread where the guy explains what programs to download and how to overlay the google earth with the others etc? It was awesome, I'll try to find it http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1226668865/0#0
  7. Maybe........... But what does your angler intuition tell you when looking at that picture?
  8. Hey, way to go Dom!! Glad to hear you got what you worked so hard for! Now you just have to put it to good use$$$$
  9. From what I understand: The whole reason for having a ton of rods all rigged up and ready to go, goes back to tournament anglers. When you start your day, everything is rigged so you dont waste time tieing on new lures every few minutes. In doing so, you have more time to do whats important during a tournament. During a tournament every second counts. If it takes you 20 seconds to tie on a new lure, and you tie on 30 lures throughout the day, that is 6 minutes you wasted tieing on lures when you could have been fishing. It may not seem like much, but when you factor in time to find the lures and time wasted in other ways throughout the day, it all adds up.
  10. I really like the one I highlighted! How about: On occasion I find that I do better in a tournament when I fish more for fun than to win. Has this occurance ever happened with him? And why do you think this happens?
  11. Yes, they do have his autograph, and yes, it's real. Thanks Glenn!!
  12. On his website he is selling some products that in the pics have his autograph. Do they come with his autograph if purchased? And is it really his autograph and not an iron on? What does he rely on that helps him stay focused under pressure after he has had a bad tounament, or day? Does he believe BASS having removed the co-anglers is an advantage or a disadvantage and why? In what ways has winning the 2003 Classic changed his life for the better? How about for the worse?
  13. With all the snow melt from up North, I'd hope they are at normal pool by April.
  14. At that time of year the fish will probably be just starting to bed. Most of the lake is relatively shallow so it will depend on the water clarity for the most part. Indian lake? That's tough man. Good luck! Here is a cool link that should help you alot. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1226668865/0#0
  15. Dude, your a mook!! Of all people I should have to say this to! 2 words Dom, . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Duct tape
  16. Same here. I know why I'm there. I know what I'm looking for. I don't mind if an employee asked me if I need any help finding something, but I do mind if an employee starts a sales pitch. In my case, I cant stand it when the employees ask me if I need help finding something. Chances are, I know what's on the shelves better than they do. And it also bugs me when they are out of something and it has been a few weeks since they have had that product. When I go back a second time to get said product and they still don't have it stocked, that is my cue not to shop there anymore. There are 2 stores that I don't go to anymore because of that very reason. I mainly go to one tackle shop. If they don't have something, they order it, on the spot. Not 2 months later! >
  17. It isnt that your a new fisherman, it is because the lake has very few big fish in it. I fish a ton of "Big Bass lakes", and very few ever yield keeper fish. For example Northmoreland lake: I have only caught maybe 4 keeper fish from this pond. And I have been fishing it my whole life!! Lower Twin lake: I caught 1 keeper bass out of this pond. ONE!!!! Deer lakes: Supposedly there are a lot of BIG bass in the Deer lake ponds. I have yet to catch any fish over 8 inches. The place gets absolutely hammered! The fact of the matter is that these lakes are listed as "Big bass lakes" so that the fish have a chance to grow before they are harvested. The problem is that the lakes get overpopulated with dinks, so the fish have to fight for available forage. In doing so it stunts the normal growth of the fish. My advice to you is to not give up. There are bigger fish in the lake, you just have to learn their habits and patterns.
  18. I drive a 2000 Cavalier and can fit a 7ftr easy. I lower the backseat and from the drivers side rear door, I just put the rod in tip first. The tips rest on the dash and the butt sits on the folded down rear seat. I tried fitting them in from the front, but the door gets in the way. Much easier for me with my car to go in from the back door.
  19. Old and moldy! ;D
  20. One of the only things I truely fear in life is getting old.
  21. When I go into a tackle shop I go there because I want something specific. I will usually go in with the intention to spend only the alloted amount on said product. But by the time I leave I have spent atleast twice that amount. In a small shop I will sit and BS with the guys for an hour or so. When I go to the larger stores, the employees either are totally clueless, or way too busy to stop and chat for a bit. Very rarely do I ever just stop in a store to see what they got. When I do, either I am totally disappointed or I end up spending way too much $$.
  22. Might be convenient, but I bet those places dont throw in extras. Last week I bought a Carrot stick and a new Curado at Lock 3. He threw in 4 jigs, a couple cans of pop I had on the counter, and some other older plastics I grabbed from a discount bin. This past Monday I went down to get my license. I bought it and walked out to the car and searched for my license holder. I couldn't find it and went back in to buy one. He didn't charge me for it. Lee Murray is the owner of Lock 3 and as far as I can tell he makes his living off making money at tournaments. Not only is he one heck of a fisherman, he is one hell of a guy!
  23. $15.00? WOW is that ever a deal!! I just got my license the other day. I paid $38.00 bucks!! But that includes a trout stamp/erie stamp combo permit.
  24. In Pa it runs from Jan 1st until Dec 31st. But you reminded me that I'll need an Ohio license. Thanks!!
