  1. I'm looking to buy a spinning reel that will not cause severe line twist. I would like to spend less than $150.00 on the reel. Any suggestions?
  2. I agree 100%! In the sega fishing game you can pick from different lures and as you advance in the tournament season, more lures open up to where you can amass over 100 lures from topwaters to deep diving cranks as well as as assortment of plastics. You can pitch lures under docks, and cast a coutry mile. Great game and very realistic. The only thing I don't like about it is that when you fish a sub-surface lure you can see all the fish under the water. If you are fishing a dock and a huge bass is holding in a specific section, it is simple to cast right to it, and as long as your using the right lure it's as good as caught. My record for a 5 bass limit in the game was close to 55 pounds.
  3. Try both, let the fish tell you what they want.
  4. I thought that was alot to spend on hooks but as I thought about it later, I relized that I had spent almost as much on jigs for the 2008 tournament season. Better to have way to much than to run out during a tournament.
  5. I went yesterday for an hour or so. I hit a spot on the Freeport pool, right under the Freeport bridge. Lookin to catch a walleye or two, but only got snagged.
  6. I've fished Berlin, Mosquito, and the Ohio river. No offense, but Ohio lakes are not on my list of favorites.

  8. Sweet!!! Did you happen to email that to Glenn D.?
  9. For sure!!!! I went out this past Saturday to the freeport pool just below lock 5 trying for walleye. Not a bite, but going threw the motions helps alot. As I was fishing I had a WC-officer come and check my license. He said I'm the first person he has seen out fishing in a few weeks as he snickered at me. FYI, the areas below the dams is not totally frozen. Parts are slushy but not totally frozen. Not that you could get your boat in the water anyway.
  10. I went to Lowes this morning and picked up the board and the pegs. Only cost me $33.00! Thanks for all the help. Once I get it all together, I'll try and post a few pics.
  11. I was thinking that a craft store would have something like a pegboard, but I think Lowes or Home depot would have something more along the lines that Im looking for. I currently have one of those 6 drawer storage containers and that thing is jam packed. I'd need to buy another one, but I think the peg board would be much better to keep everything organized and neat.
  12. I am looking for a place to by peg board and the pegs to fit into them so I have a place to store bags of plastics, along with crankbaits and the like. Does anyone know of a place to pick up a peg board and the pegs?
  13. That looks just like my 1981 Hydro sport bass boat. I may need some advice once it warms up a bit. The floor in my boat needs replaced as well. Nice work so far!
  14. I think it would be alot of fun, providing the weather cooperates. I know of another much much smaller lake about 20 minutes south of Erie that has some great fishing too. Maybe if Erie is too rough we could try the other lake for the day.
  15. Just like any other lure there is a proper time and place. No lure will always catch fish. In 2007 I picked up a pack of Storm swimbaits, and have caught around 60 fish on them, and over 30 of those fish in one day. With 1/4 of those fish being above average for the lakes I was fishing. Just because you didn't catch fish on a lure doesn't mean it's crap, it just means you were either: -not fishing the lure properly ie..too fast or too slow. -fishing the lure in the wrong place whether that pertains to the water column or the actual spot (that may be void of fish). or -not fishing the lure in the proper conditions, ie.. water conditions, fronts, etc...
  16. Boy you guys are lucky! At the expo in Pittsburgh we only get guys who I've never heard of that do demos. KVD, Rojas, man that alone is worth the price of admission.
  17. I was unaware of this news, but Im glad it went well. Ed is one hell of a guy!
  18. plnoldrick, I went out to Twin lakes today and both "lakes" were frozen over. The same with Keystone state park lake, and another "secret" lake in the same area. Maybe with the warm rain we've had today, the lakes will be ice free tomorrow and Monday.
  19. The area in the circle is a big deep flat. On the side you mention, near the point in the circle is the deepest area in the lake dropping down to almost 25 feet as well as the most verticle dropoff in the lake.
  20. This might help some. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/seasonal.html#winter
  21. Anyone been out lately? I hit Twin lakes park this Saturday. I tried the upper lake at the dam for a couple hours without a single bite. Went down to the lower lake near the boathouse for another couple hours also without a bite. I tried all sorts or stuff. Bucktail jigs, shakeyhead jigs, jerkbaits, dropshot rigs, combo rigs, I even combined some stuff just to give the odd stuff a try, such as a dropshot with a bucktail jig as the weight, as well as a tiny husky jerk on a c-rig. I didn't have one bite all day! While I was fishing, I had one trout guy on either side of me catching trout every other cast. The only thing I can figure is that I wasn't fishing where the bass were.
  22. X3 Fish hit cranks out of reaction, not because it "smells" good.
  23. I live in Pa. Can you guess where? | | | | | | | | | | | | | \ /
  24. My suggestion would have to be Bass Pro Shop tender tubes in 2 colors- #13 which is a dark green watermelon, and #3 which is a lightish brown color. I also like the YUM VK finesse tubes that put off a bit more vibration because of the ribbed sides. In the YUM tubes I prefer watermelon with gold flake, green pumpkin, and black neon. Those 3 colors will cover the full spectrum of water clarities you'll likely come across. For Texas riggin': Get yourself either some Lazer sharp HP hooks that have a little clip that holds the plastic, or the Gamakatsu skip gap hooks in the green pack. Your'll also need some bullet weights in as light a weight you can get away with and still maintain good contact with the bottom. As a guideline, the shallower your fishing, the lighter the weight. I have an assortment from 1/8 oz up to 1/2 ounce that I used for tubes. For areas that aren't snaggy you'll need to get your self some internal leadhead jigs. I prefer a 1/8 oz skinny head jig known as a gitzit head. As the jig falls it has a spiral spin to it that at times will drive the fish nuts. I also have 1/4 oz and 3/8 oz internal jig heads for deeper water, which I rarely use. I caught more fish on tube jigs in 2007 than any other lure so I can officially claim they are my "go-to" lure.
  25. Thanks for the review link The_Jake. In theory I think the product sounds like a great idea, bordering on revolutionary. And being thet the price isn't astronomically high, it sounds decent. I seen a show on the discovery channel a while back were they put an electrode into an area with sharks. When a shark would near the device, someone would trigger it so that it would emit a small electrical impulse. The sharks went nuts trying to find the creature that emitted the impulse. It stands to reason that bass being predators could at times feed in the same manner. Just wondering if anyone has actually used the product and noticed a difference?
