  1. I read an article in a local paper today that said we (in PA) are allowed to posses, and purchase fireworks - the good ones. But we are not allowed to use them in PA. I can understand the reasoning behind it, but I still think those laws are stupid.
  2. Burn!!!! Although, most of the lakes in Ohio are rather poor too. IMO ofcourse.
  3. I know a guy who one cold, early morning before sunup is at the ramp by himself. He goes to launch his boat and does the hold onto the rope trick. He launches the boat and lightly ties the rope to a rock. He parks his truck and trailer and when he gets down to the water, he notices his boat slowely floating away. Being the only one at the lake so far, and decided to strip and swim for the boat. He goes and gets the boat, swims back and as he is standing there butt naked, on a cold morning, a bass club pulls down the road to the ramp. I don't remember what happened next. Maybe he can fill in the blanks. Jim?
  4. Sounds great!! 13lb'r huh? So when can I move into the pool house? ;D
  5. It's threads like this that remind me of Avid and Muddy. I fish alot at night too. But I don't limit myself to nights only. There are lots of bass that still stay with-in reach. Try looking for any form of cover you can find. Weeds, bushes, and trees, along with docks usually provide shelter for some summertime bass.
  6. That's awesome dad!! Keep up the good work! Anything to get the kids involved is great!!! With kids, it doesn't matter what your throwing, as long as your catchin' em.
  7. Thanks for the post!! I would like to know...... What did you learn from the experience?
  8. I'm probably going to regret this latter, but here is a list of the top lakes in Pa to catch lotsa bass. The list goes by density which means the lake could have a ton of tiny bass, or a few really big ones. The list is more for quantity than quality I would guess. WARNING!!!-If you decide to print this out, it is 33 pages long!! I found out the hard way. http://www.fish.state.pa.us/pafish/bass_black/00bass_waters_ranked.htm
  9. For me it's getting her in and grabbing her lip. The fight is fun, but nerve racking, because if I loose her I'll be beating myself up over it,-especially in a tournament.
  10. Don't most of the endings in his movies suck? They do in my opinion.
  11. Wow, lots a great terrible stories. I can't top most of them but here are a few pics of me fishing in 2006 on the Allegheny river. This is on a small pond about 12 miles from my house. Last winter I was fishing the Allegheny river with air temps in the single digits and water temps in the high 20's. Ya I know.........20 degrees, ice.......it was a river. Where the water is constantly moving so the water has to be much colder to freeze. I had to walk down a steep bank covered with ice to the river that had gone down a bit over night and left 2-4 inches of ice on every rock, stick, and pebble on the rivers edge. I walked out onto this little point and fished for a bit and had a conservation officer come down to check my license. After that we talked for a bit and I asked him if he catches a lot of people this time of year fishing illegally. He told me I was the only fisherman he has seen in weeks! No one else around is either crazy enough or stupid enough to be out in weather like that. Even though I didn't catch anything that day, I still got to be outside and throw a few casts into some water.
  12. YES!!!! The best way I can describe it is like this....... You wouldn't use a hammer to drive in a screw right? You'd use a screw driver. Same thing with a baitcaster. It is better designed for winching big pigs out of heavy cover. But that is just one advantage...... Check out the links below for more detailed explainations. http://www.bassresource.com/beginner/reel_selection.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/equipment.html http://www.bassresource.com/beginner/fishing_equipment.html http://www.bassresource.com/fish/reels.html http://www.bassresource.com/beginner/Fishing-Reels.html http://www.bassresource.com/beginner/rod_reel_line.html
  13. Wow!!!! I don't even know what to say. :o :o :o :o
  14. Turtles...he he he! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CKiGXBYLk8&feature=related I had to post this. This video is so funny.
  15. My Dad is a big gardener. He uses any type of leaves to spread around in the garden. My understanding is that the leaves help slow the growth of weeds, and maybe even helps furtilize the garden. If not this year, then for next year. He also makes and maintains a compost pile. Anything we have that is a food product that we plan to throw away goes into the compost. Egg shells, coffee grounds, bananna peels, old lettuce...etc.... Then as he plants he throws a bit of compost into the hole, or row he is planting.
  16. Totally kick a-s-s!!!!
  17. Thanks alot folks! I ended up getting 2nd place with only 4 LM, and the guy I fished with got 4 LM also. The lunker for the day was 3lbs 9oz. I only had 4 lbs 14 oz, but most of the consistant finishers in our club did terrible. I almost had a limit, but I broke off a nice fish. I also caught another 3 LM, all dinks though. We seen some nice muskie and a couple nice pike also. My partner also caught a chunky little blue gill. It was a great day overall. For me anyway. Our club has our second Mosquito tournament of the year their next weekend. Last time we fished there the guy I fished with got first place and I didn't have a bite all day. If you fish tournies that should tell you alot. >
  18. Anyone from Ohio fish the Michael J. Kerwin resovoir? I have a tournament there later this month and wonder what the place is like. Any info at all is much appreciated.
  19. How far away from Keystone state park do you live?
  20. Do you beat the bank, or take your boat out?
  21. Try whatever you want. I would throw senkos, tubes, chigger craws, jerkbaits, deep cranks that will stir up the bottom, or you could slow roll a spinnerbait. Try topwaters in the morn, evening, and anytime you got some good cloud cover. Whatever you can think of. I would suggest using the lightest line you can because of the clear water. Unless your fishing around wood, rocks, or lots of weeds, you should be ok. But even then you just have to pay attention to the conditionof the line and watch for nics. Retie after every pig, and after every other smaller fish. I usually go with 10# on the clear ponds around my way. Be sure to take a camera and snap a few pics of the pigs you catch so you can post them on here.
  22. How long would it take to get from Keystone State park to that lake? I see they're both just off of 981.
  23. What in the heck are you throwing where your catching 47 fish? How long were you fishing for too? And.....do you mind sharing the name of this "local pond"? I don't know man, it sounds like I might have to get the waders out.
  24. http://www.bassresource.com/bassfish/bass_fishing_clubs.html You can also contact your state's BASS federation to find a local bass club. http://www.federationnationofnj.org/ Or you can contact the FLW federation of NJ. http://www.njbassfed.org/ A club can offer alot. http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/bass_clubs.html http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/guide_to_tournament_fishing.html I learned more in the first year I was in my bass club than I did in my previous 24 years of fishing.
  25. Nice fish!!! Pa's LM state record is 11lbs 3 oz.
