  1. If the fish are spawning that might be the problem... fish locked on beds wont hit reaction baits most of the time.. look for beds and throw either a weightless senko or shakey head and you should catch em.
  2. I love throwing tubes in the spring. I usually fish them on a 1/4 oz bullet weight and drag it super slow on the bottom. Especially in the really cold water, I will sometimes have 3-5 minute casts. When it comes to the spawn a small weightless tube on a bed is really good. The slow fall drives the bass crazy. Also, you might try dropshotting a small tube or craw type plastic on beds. It may seem weird at first but works really well.
  3. I finished up fishing the FLW Rayovac series at Grand Lake on April 4th. Fishing in practice was good but a combination of weather and bad pro draws kept me away from the fish. The best fishing and warmest water was up the river near Bee Creek. Crank Baits, Spinner baits, and Alabama Rigs seemed to be the most productive lures. Weather is still cold and fishing is still slow but the fish are biting. Hopes this helps anyone thats planning on fishing Grand.
  4. Dont think i could help. Ive ordered about $400 worth of tackle and rods in the past couple of weeks haha.
  5. Looks like itll be up in the 70's for a few consecutive days so hopefully that will get the fish fired up.
  6. I'm surprised the shark didn't catch him!
  7. I would try and find out what kind of baitfish live in the ponds. When you do, stock it full of em'. Itll give all the bass a nice meal! If you cant find what type of baitfish live there, just stock the ponds with crawfish. They wont die and bass love them! A local pond where i live was stocked with alot of bait a few years back and some of the biggest bass in the state are caught out of that pond now.
  8. I would throw a 4" weightless senko if there is no wind. If the bank is windblown, a zoom super fluke will crush em'.
  9. I've caught fish on green pumpkin jigs in some pretty dirty water. Black and blue may be a better choice when the water is really stained, but never hesitate to throw green pumpkin. Its a good color in almost any visability.
  10. 1. The number 1 plastic you should have for this time of year is a 7" trick worm rigged on a shakey head. Slowly dragging this on the bottom will always catch a few bass. 2. Any grub type bait rigged on a simple jig head are always good for catching smallmouth.
  11. The 7'11" has a 24" handle on it. i would imagine this gives the rod good leverage but does it get in the way?
  12. Im looking for a good swimbait rod in the $100-200 price range. Ill be throwing 1/2-3 0z swimbaits on the rod so I don't need something super heavy. Any suggestions??
  13. 1. Big profile jig 2. Crankbait 3. Any 10 inch worm
  14. Squarebill: RED strike king KVD 2.5 Lipless: Strike king red eye shad Jerkbait: Spro Mike McClelland Mcstick 110 Topwater: Heddon super spook
  15. I have yet to catch a fish on a big swimbait, mainly because I haven't thrown one much. This year I am going to dedicate myself to catching a bass on one of these big swim baits. I believe it is more of a personal "right of passage" when finally hooking up with a bass on a big swim bait.
