  1. Awesome! I'm nervous about jumping in a purchasing a few without holding them for myself. Do you find the reel seat to be comfortable? All the rods I currently own have cork infront of the reel seat as well. So that would take some getting used to.
  2. Thank you! Do you feel that it is sensitive enough to fish deeper water with?
  3. I can't seem to find the options of Lews. I can find Abu Garcia, Diawa, and others but now Lews.Edit*** I did more searching and found it. Thanks!
  4. To be honest, I'm not even sure of the pros/cons associated with Ceramic inserts over no inserts. Can you elaborate as to why this may be an issue. The last thing I want to do is spend money on a rod and have it under perform.
  5. Would you say that the Aetos is worth the extra cash? Does the Aetos feel comfortable with that much blank exposed? I noticed that the Elite Tech and the Aetos are basically polar opposites when it comes to the handles/reel seats.
  6. Looking to pick up a new dropshot rod and I have been looking at these Fenwick rods. Does anybody have any experience with either rod? The Elite Tech Smallmouth looks like a decent stick for $130, and the Aetos has some pretty good reviews for just a little more $. Any input? Thanks everybody
  7. What model Endurance do you guys use for jigs (1/2 oz and under around moderate cover)?
  8. Hey everybody, I'm looking to try a bit of Carolina rigs this year and I was wondering what kind of baits do you prefer to throw? I've watched a decent amount of YouTube videos and I've seen people use everything from senkos, to lizards, to 10" ribbon tails. What is everybody's preference when it comes to c-rigging?
  9. How many people here use a Powell spinning rod as their DS rig? How do you like it? Do you prefer the Endurance or the Max?
  10. *I accidentally posted this in the tackle forum as well, so can a mod delete that one? Thank you.* Hey guys/gals, I'm in the market for a new jig/t-rig rod, and I need a little bit of input, specifically from those who own Dobyns rods. I'm looking to buy a Dobyns champion series rod. I've heard some people say that Dobyns rods typically fish a heavier power than labeled, is that true? I was thinking about the 703, is that what most of you use? It won't be used for any slop. Mainly deep water, weed breaks, etc.
  11. Let me introduce you to the "flexi-Jig"...
  12. I was wondering if this air compressor would suffice for painting Crankbaits. I don't really know much about air compressors in general, or what is required to paint cranks. About all I know is that it is a Jetstream, I didn't have a whole lot of time to look it over real well.
  13. I've been out a few times so far this year... Caught my first double digit ever! Been crushing them on 4" white tubes lately. Oh wait, are we talking bass?
  14. I agree 100%. I just feel that for $150 (the tactical series), I would be more comfortable going the Smoke, or Crucial route.
  15. I have played around with them, just had not fished with them. I noticed the same things as mentioned above: slightly tip heavy, short butt, stubby split-grip, etc. I just wasn't sure if I was just being critical or if It would really even matter on the water. However, those exact issues were brought up 4 or 5 times in this thread. So I really don't see myself going out and spending my money on an "average" rod from a "new(ish)" company. MANY other options in this price range.
  16. Thank you! This was all I needed to hear.
  17. No other place quite like it. Just wish I was closer to St. Clair, and Erie!
  18. Hey all, I am new to the site as of today. I'm an avid tournament angler who goes to school on the side...(poor attempt at a joke.) I currently live in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, where we are currently buried under 50"s of snow. (Yes it sucks, and a move is in the near future.) I'm looking forward to being an active participant of the forum and I'm hoping to learn a lot from the more "seasoned" anglers on the board. -Brandon
  19. That's what I was thinking! Looks like their "higher-end" rods are around that $160 range, and was wondering if the G.Loomis stamp was more of a gimmick or if these rods were of good quality.
  20. Hey everybody, I'm looking to do some wholesale upgrades to my rods and reels this spring, and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Temple Fork Outfitters rods, more specifically, the Tactical Series?
